Dear Mr. Starnes,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to apply for the opening position at Mount Pleasant High School. I was informed of the position availability by my host teacher, Mrs. Carey. As you may know, I am currently student teaching two English 9A courses, one English 10A course and one Credit Recovery course under Mrs. Carey in Mount Pleasant High School currently. I was very excited to hear of this opening as, through my years of working within the district, I have grown to love Mount Pleasant High School! Aside from my passion about English and MPHS, I believe that I also have the necessary professional qualifications and skills to fit this position well for the purposes of the district, but more importantly, for the students. As this is my final semester of coursework, I will be graduating from Central Michigan University with my degree in Secondary English Education this December. In my time at CMU, I have dedicated myself to becoming involved in any events which would benefit me professionally by building my leadership skills and engaging me further in my content area. In my early years here, I was active in the university Honors Program and in my residence hall. In my second year I was elected as one of the Residence Hall Assembly Representatives for Larzelere Hall. Both communities provided me with opportunities to develop my leadership skills through conferences and service activities. In later years, I became a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an International English Honors Society, and was elected as a member of the executive board for the RSO. Through this organization I have been able to attend multiple conferences on English studies and engage with other future English teachers. In addition to my leadership and content related involvements while at CMU, I have also become an active member of the Mount Pleasant community! My husband and I have become engaged in public service at the local animal shelters as well as regularly attend MPHS sporting events. I have, at every opportunity, developed on the relationships I have formed through both pre-student teaching and student teaching with students and parents at MPHS. This community has become my home and I hope I am given the opportunity to give back to the students of this wonderful community by bringing my student-centered and writing focused background to the halls of MPHS I hope to hear from you in the near future! Please contact me by phone, 989-560-0190, or email, bann14nikp@gmail.com. I appreciate both your time and consideration of my application. Best wishes, Nicole Bannen
