2. To talk about an action that was common in
the past, but now it is not
e.g.: I cooked every evening- I do not do this
anymore
SPELLING RULES:
- The final consonant of the verb is
doubled when the preceding vowel
is short and stressed: stop- stopped,
travel- travelled;
- The final-y disappears when it is
preceded by a consonant, and the
verb takes ied termination;
e.g.: study- studied
- The verbs finished in e only take
d termination
