My name is Hai-Duong Nguyen.

I am a Registered Nurse and will obtain my BSN through the

completing of the RN to BSN program at Frostburg State University. I graduated in 2013 from

Montgomery College Nursing Program with an ADN and have been a nurse for 4 years. I have gained

much knowledge and experience within these 4 years. In this executive summary, I will discuss my

professional accomplishments, strengths as a nurse, and professional goals. I will conclude this

executive summary with a closing statement.

Within these 4 years, I have gained much knowledge as a critical care nurse. When I graduated,

I secured a position on the Progressive Care Unit at Shady Grove Medical Center and started my career

as a novice critical care nurse. I gained much knowledge in Medical/Surgical and cardiac patients. I

advanced my knowledge by transition to the Intensive Care Unit at Howard County General Hospital.

After 2 years as a critical care nurse I transitioned to home health at HomeCall, LHCGroup. I am

currently working as the senior nurse and case manager at this organization.

My strengths as a nurse was exemplified throughout my career in critical care. When I worked

in the Intensive Care Unit I had a solid understanding of cardiac dysrhythmias, resuscitation and life

sustaining treatment. I worked here for 2 years and gained much experience regarding chronic illnesses.

I would say my greatest strength as a nurse was my ability to advocate for my patients with

compassion in their time of need. My experience while on this unit increased my understanding of

palliative and hospice care. I had many instances where my patients compromised state required me to

speak for them, and my work with the multidisciplinary team allowed me to advocate for what was

necessary for my patients' wishes and quality of life. My strength as as advocate allows me to transition

to home health and provide a range of care. I am able to utilize my critical care knowledge and

understanding of life-limiting illnesses to provide quality care to all stages of life.

My goal in the next 3 years is to obtain my Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

degree. I plan on applying to Frostburg State University's Family Nurse Practitioner program. My goal

when I finish my degree is to work at an outpatient surgery center or at a dermatologist office. I have a
passion for skincare and aesthetics and would like to utilize my skills as a Registered Nurse to perform

minor surgical procedures and cosmetic treatments under the supervision of a physician.

My knowledge and goals as a Registered Nurse has truly broadened over these few years. I was

fortunate enough to be given so many opportunities to work with great organizations, and the

experiences I've gained with my patients are priceless. I hope I will continue to grow into a well-

rounded, thoughtful nurse and provide safe, quality care throughout my career.
