Radiologic Technologist
According to CNC.org, Radiologic Technologist "takes x-rays
and CAT scans or administers nonradioactive materials into
patient's blood stream for diagnostic purposes." They also
position and immobilizes patient on examining table.
You need to be able to collect and record medical information.
Enter information on computer terminals.
Helping people understand health care instructions.
Operate medical diagnostic equipment.
Work as a member of a health services team.
The minimum requirement for the career is one has to earn a
certificates, associate's degrees or bachelor's degree.
however, most radiology technicians enter the career with
associate's degrees. Related fields include Diagnostic Medical
Sonographer, Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiation
Therapists.
A professional degree is not required for this field.
The educational degree requirements will take about two years for
an Associate's degree and if you want to get a Bachelor's degree it
will take about four years.
The salary varies from state to state. However, the national
average according to www.bls.gov the 2016 median pay per year
is $58,950 the hourly pay is $28.35 per hour.
According to www.blvs.gov the job outlook for overall
employment of radiologic and MRI technologists is projected to
grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all
occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an
increase in medical conditions that require imaging as a tool for
making diagnoses.

The growth and advancement opportunities for a Radiologic
Technologist can continue education in the fields of
Mammography, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or
Angiography. Fifty percent of radiologic technologists opting for
career advancement choose MRI as their domain of study. This is
