This organization was founded by Lisa Blackburn and an Art teacher from
Michigan named John Hartom. Hartom required his students create bowls for a
project, there he developed the idea to donate them to charity.
John Hartom and other members developed the idea of Empty Bowls, an idea
to let everyone who attend leave with their bowls empty and the thought of
hunger.
The organization funds each event, sponsoring the events are local artists, artist
organizations, churches, schools, community service organizations, and the
community members who attend.
The organization supports food insecure families, refugees, and the homeless.
