Hi, I am Vivek Prakash, 24 years old Industrial Designer from
National Institute of Design. I have degree in Furniture and
Interior Design, but have always struck me objects. I consider
design into the modern world as a conversation between people
and products. I have always loved to solve problem, tinker,
tear things apart to examine and learn how they work and this
desire for constant learning and challenge drove me to choose
industrial design as an occupation. I have engaged in design of
other disciplines such as exhibition, interior, graphic and film
and video design.

From my perspective, design is a process of experimentation

and understanding, aiming in the satisfaction of human needs.
Function, form or emotions are meaningless without a deep
understanding of innovation and quality, and I am in constant
pursuit of discovering the value in essence. Hence my methodology
is based on the user, the client and the feasibility of the
project, is in a continuous development for the need to always
strike the best result. I like to design with common sense
such that it is intuitive yet simplistic. This is because of
my inclination towards Dutch design, which emphasises on a
minimalistic, experimental and innovative approach. I am a music
enthusiast and an aspiring Audiophile, who spend a lot of time
extensively following Audiophile forums in my free time, learn
the upcoming audio reproduction technologies, communicate with
passionate peoples and like to experience high end acoustics and
would also love to work on similar interest if situation grants.

Reo Chair

The Reo-Chair - The steel sunflower blooms

out of the stone bud that sits in the garden.
The robust seat was thought out to be an
extension at the grounds of a building with
conventional construction materials such as
concrete and steel. Yet the challenge remained
to convert the robustness of the materials
to a more pleasing and gentle aesthetics.
The circular form of the seat took away the
conventional forms that are expected from
such materials, at the same time the colors
added the value addition. Steel rods are
bent individually at particular angels and
shape to suit ergonomics of a comfortable
seat. These rods are placed in the hollow
concrete base for a simple outdoor garden
chair. Visually heavy chair that looks
immobile is mere 8 Kilos for a single person
to lift on his/her own.

Hat Lamp

The minimalist Hat lamp was conceived as a

derivative of a task lamp with the feature of
adaptability, floating over the table allowing
the user to use the workplace with no hindrance.
This idea creates a hybrid of a table lamp and
a Suspended task lamp. The lamp consists of a
structural wooden member with individual folded
Mild steel fins with embedded OLED panels. The
fins emits an extremely even light distribution
that ensure the color and intensity of light
closely replicates daylight. This enhances human
well-being and supports productive work. The
Structural wooden member compliments the overall
form by giving a warm and humble nature to the lamp
and breaking the monotony of the fast corporate
realm.
The lamp was designed on the idea of Light
sharing which commences a conversation between
the users, simultaneously not compromising over
the quality of the light and guarantees total
practicality making it a flexible, functional
yet highly personalized product. The Lamp can be
connected wirelessly to any personalized gadgets
allowing the user to efficiently use the lamp. In
a scenario where a user needs only one fin to be
lit on the work-space, this feature can be very
efficient for Energy saving.

Snug bag

Smthn snug is about finding solution to our daily

problem, versatile carrying system for every
day. Using our experience from previous bag pack
projects, we wanted to completely disrupt the
way people carry their stuffs. Focussing on what
todays independent commodities like to carry
and how they want to carry when they go out for
a tour travel for a 1 or 2 day trip including
business meetings, or a night out at someones
place when packing pressed folded clothes
becomes a hustle especially when you have bag
pack and turns out that none one them has been
left pressed and wrinkle free when it is taken
out from bag. Developing a new way of carrying
has taken us to a very primitive choreography
of packing folded clothes i.e., to wrap. Other
bags focus on how much stuff you can carry, but
our criteria was to question when one is not
carrying much of stuffs, will the footprint of
bag can be reduced at very ease?
Designed for professionals environments where
etiquettes are important but at the same time,
giving flexibility to do more with an everyday
pack.

feature helps the user to modify the layouts of the
office in many ways and still be allowing it to keep
the desk connected. The novelty in the design has been
achieved using Recycled Plastic Sheets processed from

Recycled Plastic Sheets

The inspiration of working with recycled

plastic came from a forum called precious
plastics, Dave hekkens, and the founder of
Precious Plastics, introduced DIY machines
for reprocessing plastics. This led us to
experimenting with melting waste products
in the domestic ovens. The whole awareness
of using recycled plastics into day to day
products, and we took this as a challenge
to slowly help establish the relation and
acceptance of the material with the people.

Floret Seating

Our brief was to design a multi-functional,

contemporary but visually context-less seating
with a touch of old-fashioned way, bridging the gap
between furniture which appeals to young as well as
mature commodities. In domestic spaces, can serves
as dining chairs, and if kept in commercial spaces,
the furniture should be able to break the hierarchy
and division of seating and lounge area and the
people who are using it. The most important concern
was to make the furniture appeals and invites users
of any age and hierarchy, be it in office space,
commercial front or domestic environment while
keeping in mind the current need of the modern
calling i.e., the need of socializing, collaboration
and active seating positions.

Taking inspiration from daily objects to a very

fundamental level, how bristles reacts to external
weights and adds a spring back force and imagining
the same effect in a real scale, we metaphorically
derived the same spring back force effect from honest
and natural material such as wood to provide comfort
for the user. We believe the sense of protection
has a lot to do with emotion of invitation towards
seating and hence the curved backrest kept in a
blooming bristle pattern encapsulates and embraces
the user, and gives a chair a very welcoming nature.

Floret Seating

Floret seating is an exercise in contrast and

simplicity, combining the dated and the modern. It
provides a psychological clue as what it is for- a
classic form of multifunctional chair for contemporary
living. The combination of bench and chairs in any
environments separates the spaces where conversation
and collaboration can takes place.
Floret can be easily accompanied into various
settings, such as private homes, restaurants and
offices, dining spaces etc. Coloured stains help
to bring out the grain texture and add further
dimension to the visuals.

The Aim was to design School Laboratory Furniture

Laboratory System, which can be used in any Generic
Laboratories and Research Facilities. The key
objective was to design the Laboratory Furniture
system exceptionally modular and the challenge was
to redesign and create a screw-less joinery for the
work benches. Such Modular joinery also allows to
create different layouts for different laboratories,
facilities according to their needs.

that the female part will have less cut out. The male

umbrella. It consists of 16 200 X 50mm Standard OLED
panels of CCT 3500k Creating total lumens of 1168 lm
which falls under EL and FPL bulb category, suitable
for home lights. The user has a freedom to shift
the axis of light, just like an umbrella, to create
different moods in the space.
One can adjust the height also by the help of height

achieved by pulling the wires which establish the
electrical connections. The wires is coated with
rubber so to provide strength while pulling. OLED

- Kiki Smith.
Kitchen signifies cooking. Preparing meals is
lot more about what we eat and being well. The
designed kitchen system will make the activity
cooking an important part of our lives. Our aim
is to provide a space or a kitchen space where the
very nature of it invites many people to involve
in cooking and sharing pleasant times together
rather than cooking be a daily routine. Kitchen
is no longer a hidden part of our home but rather
we open a new dimension where it becomes the heart
and one of the most attractive living spaces.

Rift lamp

Rift is a Wall mounted Task lamp. The concept of the

mechanism is inspired form the car wipers. When closed
it acts as a mood light, when open, can be used as a
task lamp. The user can change the angle of the light
by physically moving the hands and the light holder.
The user can alter the color of light as per their
choice as the light built in is a combination of Cool
White and Warm white which is controlled by the power
switch by pressing it twice. The Scandinavian design
has been adopted to the aesthetic by keeping it very
minimal where the function talks about the form it-
self. And as the name suggest, one can break the light
from its function to another in a way one wants. 2015
