Lesson Plan in English I

I. Learning Outcomes
At the end of the lesson, learners with 75% accuracy will be able to:
A. Recognize the importance of intonation in conversation through
watching a cut-out movie clip of Ghajini,
B. Display proper intonation in reading example sentences and
mastery in sketching intonation pattern to example sentences
during the discussion, and
C. Read a comic strip with dialogues in bubbles with the proper
application of voice intonation.

III. Learning Experiences:
A. Preliminary Activity
The facilitator leads the prayer. Have the students pick up pieces of
trash under or around their chairs before being seated. Attendance-
checking will take place after.
B. Motivation
The class will watch a cut-out movie clip of Ghajini with no English
subtitles, in which the characters are showing emotions through the
intonation of how they speak. The teacher will provide the movie clip.
The class will guess what the characters are conversing about. If
anyone hits the right answer, he or she will be given additional 3
points for the quiz.
C. Presentation
Then the class will share their observation when they watched the
cut-out movie clip of Aamir Khans Ghajini. Their observation should hit
the topic to be tackled, intonation. Then the teacher will guide them to
realization that reading, just like speaking, must also be partnered with
the tone of voice.
D. Discussion
The teacher will discuss about English intonation with the use of
examples to be given in the midst of the discussion. The class must
respond throughout the discussion by reading participation when
possible. The teacher will use example sentences while presenting the
class what is intonation while drawing a pattern above the sentences to
show the differences of rising and falling intonation.
The possible examples will be:
E. Application
The class will their own partners. The teacher will show a comic strip
with dialogues in bubbles through a PowerPoint Presentation. Each pair
must have one role each found in the comic strip given. The class will be
given 3-minute practice and will give life to the comic strip in front of the
class.

F. Assessment
The teacher will give a 10-item performance-based test.
Directions: Draw the correct intonation pattern above the sentence in
each item.

IV. Agreement
The class will work with their same groups to create a radio drama and
record it in audio. The radio drama must be at least 2 minutes in duration.
The output must be presented with a script a week before the Summative
Test.
