First of all, I am personally a student of Zhong Zhou Pai, and where there are biases
to plotting or descriptions, I will take reference to what was transmitted to me in my lineage.
Having taken formal training, I had some new inspiration and a better understanding
of . Today, I believe I am better placed to reorganise the material for added flow
and coherence. Inconsistencies where found are corrected. It is an ongoing work, and Ill be
working on reorganising existing materials rather than augmenting with more unstructured
materials.
People have generally found the material herein useful, and some have volunteered useful
links for charting or further resource.

Assessing and Bazi is like peeling an onion. There are so many levels; though
the first few levels seems so easy, it rapidly gets more complicated.

Commentary This is familiar to all of us, is it not? Their weightage of influence on our
lives is the heaviest from the top down, while the amount of control we can exert over them
is the biggest from the bottom up. It is more critical to find out our likely trends first than
to talk about Fengshui. Once we understand our predispositions can we then use Fengshui to
remedy issues. For instance, when both the structural trends and the cycle luck of Estates
Domain is good, it is easier for us to get a good house and good Fengshui. When they are
the reverse, it is easier for us to get a bad settlement and bad Fengshui.

formations play an increasingly greater role in advanced interpretations and will stand
the student in very good position to have a sound command of these stars placement.
Knowing the 14 Major Stars inside out is not about rote memorisation of how they behave
in different palace or their full details. We need to understand the content of the and
relate the characters in it to the corresponding star, not just the 14 major star. Once you
understand the character well, you will naturally able to imagine how the star would react
when encountering certain situations
Understand and remember that the corresponds to the Three Harmony of the Zodiac.
In fact, we need not know the various templates for readings if we are able to fully
understand the stars characteristics.
Yes, we can learn and memorized all the characteristic of the stars by hard but the furthest
we can go is stuck in the as hardly would a master willing to disclose the actual way they
read a to the public freely.
Unfortunately, reading the interactions between the different layers of Destiny, Decade,
Annual, Monthly all the way down to Daily requires a Master to guide. It is not really that
straightforward to learn from books.

History

Elements of the system of was devised by a Taoist named Lu Chunyang (
). It was subsequently refined, improve and properly documented by Chen Xiyi ()
during the Northern Song(960 to 1127) Dynasty and yet again later on by Luo Hongxian (
) during the Ming( 1368 to 1644) Dynasty to the present day format. Its exact origin,
however, is still debated among the different schools. Official historical records and unofficial
notes from the Song Dynasty have never associated Chen Xiyi with Chinese metaphysics and
therefore not be taken as a guaranteed historical context.
This method was popular during the Ming and Qing period and it is still very popular today.
Although has achieved the goal of providing strong competition to Bazi analysis
because has the capacity to give enormous specific details, the methodology did not flourish
for the next 1,000 years for two reasons. First, while able to provide detailed readings, the
method did not provide the logic of the interpretations, and it was seemingly not based on
profound theoretical basis like Ziping Bazi. Second, it has become the exclusive instrument
of the Bureau of Astronomy of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, used only to serve the ruling
Emperor of China. Therefore, Ziping Bazi was the only well known main stream destiny
analysis method until the recent times, when some masters began teaching openly
after World War II.
Chinese Astrology has always been closely intertwined with Astronomy. Gifted astronomer
cum astrologers were recruited as officials to work in Imperial Courts during the dynastic
eras. In those days, astrological charts were delineated for the Emperor as his personal fate
has a direct bearing on that of his kingdom. The court astrologers also played an important
role in determining the successor to the throne.
Astrologers observed the stars and noticed that among so many stars, only one was seemingly
stationary while the rest revolved around it. As it was also the brightest, the chinese courtiers
named it theEmperor Star - the celestial equivalent of the Emperor. That star is known as
Polaris in astronomy.

Due to the precession of the equinoxes, Polaris will not always be the pole star.
Over tens of thousands of years, perturbations to the Earths axis of rotation will
cause it to point to other regions of the sky, tracing out a circle. Other stars along
this circle were the pole star in the past and will be again in the future, including
Thuban and Vega.

The other is Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu. This is likely a fake as
there are errors and contradictions in the book, the most obvious being the teaching of
a different way to begin the decade cycles. It is perhaps a useful auxiliary reference for
keen students.
(translated as The Investiture of the Gods or The Creation of the Gods), also
known as Fengshen Bang (Chinese: ), is one of the major Vernacular Chinese
novels written in the Ming Dynasty. The story deals with the decline of the Shang
Dynasty and rise of the Zhou Dynasty, intertwining numerous elements of Chinese
mythology, including gods and goddesses, Chinese immortals, and spirits. It is, to an
extent, representative and descriptive of life in China at the time, where religion played
a major role in everyday life. The authorship of Fengshen Yanyi is attributed to Xu
Zhonglin (; ) (d. 1566) or Lu Xixing (; ) (d. 1601). Many of
the stars take on character roles within the novel, and it helps the student greatly by
improving the intuition and feel for the personalities.

Creation of the Gods mainly deals with the war between forces loyal to the dying Shang
dynasty and those of the rising Zhou dynasty. Warriors with magical powers are aplenty, and
Chinese readers should have no problem recognizing their beloved folk heroes and mythical
gods, including such colorful characters as the Third Prince Nezha with his three heads and
eight arms and his magical weapons (a lance, a ring, a coverlet and a pair of fire wheels) and
his brothers Jinzha and Muzha, the warrior god Yang Jian (also called the Little Sage Erlang
in Journey to the West) with his all-seeing mystical third eye, 72 magical transformations
and his immortal demon-subduing dog, Thunderbolt the thunder god, the four Heavenly
Kings (commonly seen as temple guardians in Chinese Buddhist temples) and Li Jing, the
pagoda bearing heavenly general. These characters also make cameo appearances in Journey
to the West.
3.3 Bo Yikao
Bo Yi Kao (Chinese: ; Pinyin: BYKo) is a character in the Ming Dynasty
Chinese novel Fengshen Yanyi (Investiture of the Gods). In the book, Bo Yi Kao is the eldest
son of the Grand Duke of the West, Ji Chang.
From the prophecy revealed by the oracle bones, Jiang Ziya predicted that Di Xins
loyal and benevolent courtier, Bi Gan would die soon, thereby giving a charm to Bi. Before
long, Daji, the evil vixen told her husband that she had a heart attack and only a delicate
seven-aperture heart(Qiqiao Linglong Xin) could relieve her agony. No-one in the palace
had that kind of heart except Bi, who was given a heart by the goddess Nwa, when he
drowned once during his childhood. Bi, loyal as he is, swallowed the charm given by Jiang,
grabbed his heart and pulled it out of his body to be given to Di Xin. Bi did not lose his
life, nor shed a single drop of blood. Instead, he walked out of the palace and did what Jiang
instructed: go straight home immediately without looking back. If he succeeded in doing this,
he would recover after one day.
Yet upon the last few steps on reaching home, a female huckster yelled from behind Bi,
Hey! Cheap cabbages without stems (xin)!(i.e., Baoxin Cai, literally a vegetable with a
stem covered inside; xin, heart, rhetorically refers to the stem in this case).

Bi, curious and unsuspicious, turned back and asked the huckster, How can there be
cabbages without stems? The old lady donned an evil grin and replied, Youre right,
sir. Cabbages cannot live without stems as men cannot live without hearts (xin).Bi shouted
in his loud voice, fell to the ground and died without knowing that the lady hawker was a
disguise made by the jade-made Pipa spirit. Thus, Jiang who was able to foretell Bis death,
could not prevent the tragedy from happening.
3.4 Daji
Daji (; Pinyin: Dj) was a favorite concubine of King Zhou, the last king of Shang
Dynasty in China. Known for her beauty and cruelty that brought ruin to a dynasty, she is
often portrayed as an evil fox spirit in literature, such as the famed Chinese novel Fengshen
Yanyi.
According to historical record, Daji was the beautiful daughter of a noble family named
Su () in the state of Yousu (). In 1047 BC, Zhou, the king of Shang, conquered the state
of Su and took Daji as his trophy. By then, the king was in his sixties and had been in his
throne for forty years. He had been known as strong and heroic, an orator and well-versed
in music. Under his reign, Shang had become a powerful and prosperous state. He certainly
had his Achillesheel, namely, his infatuated love for women. Ever since Zhou had Daji as
his concubine, things began to change for the worse.
Zhou liked Daji so much that he tried every means to ingratiate himself with her. Daji
liked animals, so he built her a zoological Xanadu with a large collection of rare birds and
animals. She liked dancing and singing, so he ordered artists to compose lewd music and
choreograph bawdy dances. Forgetting about state affairs all together, King Zhou began to
spend all his time with Daji. He would gather three thousand guests at one party to enjoy

his pond of wineand forest of meat,which was cooked meat strips hanging from a
wood of trees. King Zhou would allow the guests to play a cat and mouse game in the nude
among the trees so that Daji could be amused. When a maid of honor, daughter of Lord
Jiu, could not bear the sight of such debauchery and protested, King Zhou had her slain, her
father ground up, and his flesh fed to the tyrants vassals.
Eventually Daji became a brute herself. It was said that her greatest joy was to hear
people cry in physical sufferings. Once, as she saw a farmer walking barefoot on the ice, she
ordered his feet be cut off so that she could study it and figure out the cause of its resistance
to cold temperature. In another occasion, she had a pregnant womans belly cut open so
that she could satisfy her curiosity of finding out what happened therein. To verify the old
saying that a good mans heart had seven openings,she had the heart of Bi Gan, an
honest minister, cut out and subjected it to her fertile scrutiny.
On top of all those atrocities, Daji was best known for her invention of a device of torture
called Paolao (): a bronze cylinder heated like a furnace with charcoal until the sides
were extremely hot. A large bronze cylinder covered with oil was placed on top of a pile of
burning charcoal. Prisoners were made to walk on top of the slowly heating cylinder. As
the cylinder became hot, the prisoners are forced to shift their feet to avoid the burning. In
turn, the oil made it difficult for the prisoners to maintain their stance. If they fell into the
charcoal, they would burn to death. The prisoners are thus forced to dance in agony and fear,
screaming in prolonged pain, while Zhou and Daji laughed at the tortured dances. Eventually,
the prisoners would fall into the charcoal and burn to death Daji would take great delight in
the painful cries of the condemned. By the order to execute Daji from Jiang Ziya himself,
she was executed by the King Wu of Zhou personally after the fall of the Shang Dynasty.
Daji is featured within the famed Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (or more commonly
known as Fengshen Yanyi) as a major character. Daji is the first featured corrupter of the
Shang Dynasty in this novel. When Daji had first been featured however, she was simply
the average daughter of Su Hu. A major conflict arose because of King Zhous lust for the
beautiful Daji; Su Hu eventually allowed this desire to be fulfilled. During a strange wind
at night however, the original Daji was killed and replaced by an evil nine tailed fox specter
known as the Thousand-Year-Old Vixen. Within Investiture of the Gods, there is a specific
poem that tells the trickery of Su Hu and the replacement of Dajis flesh and blood with a
vixen that will fool the world to the very end. Thus following Dajis arrival at Zhaoge - the
capital of the Shang Dynasty - Daji would be considered as the greatest concubine under
King Zhou and would be the only true attention of the king.
Chaos soon spread throughout the Shang Dynasty because of the idiotic ways of the inept
king - the favoring of lust and wealth and shunning of the officials. A chapter in the two later
on in the novel, a renowned man by the name of Yunzhongzi would be the first man to act
against Daji by giving a magical wooden sword to the king that would make Daji sick and
ill and eventually die. Even after many loyal officials pleaded for change - as to avoid the
kingdoms death - Daji would always manage to grab hold of King Zhous colossal idiocy and
use it as a shield to kill the evil, including Mei Bo. Thus, following Dajis future in the
novel, she would even rise to the rank of queen and continue her mission - the destruction of
Shang Dynasty. But eventually defeated and exorcised by Jiang Ziya (Taigong Wang).
3.5. KING ZHOU OF SHANG 35
The civilians suffered greatly, and lost all hope for the Shang Dynasty. Zhous brother Wei Zi
tried to persuade him to change, but was rebuked. His uncle Bi Gan similarly remonstrated
with him, but Di Xin had his heart ripped out so he could see what the heart of a sage looked
like. When his other uncle Ji Zi heard this, he went to remonstrate with the kingly nephew
and, feigning madness, was imprisoned.
3.5.3 Fall
When Zhou Dynastys army, lead by the famous Jiang Ziya, defeated the Shang Dynasty in
the Battle of Muye, Di Xin gathered all his treasures around himself in the Palace, and then
set fire to his palace and committed suicide.
The name Zhou actually appeared after the death of King Zhou, a posthumous name.
This name was a representation of his actions of both dishonor and cold-heartedness. King
Zhou would go down in history as the worst example of a corrupted king in China.
3.6.1 Background
The last rulers of the Shang dynasty (16th - 11th century BC) was a tyrannical and debauched
slave owner who spent his days carousing with his favourite concubine Daji and mercilessly
executing or punishing upright officials and all others who objected to his ways. Jiang Shang
had once served the Shang king and had come to hate him with all his heart. He was an expert
in military affairs and hoped that some day someone would call on him to help overthrow the
king. He waited and waited till he was 80 years old, continuing placidly with his fishing in
a tributary of the Weihe River (near todays Xian) using a barbless hook or even no hook
at all, on the theory that the fish would come to him of their own volition when they were
ready.
3.7 Bi Gan
Cai Shen (traditional Chinese: ; simplified Chinese: ; pinyin: Cishn; Wade-Giles:
Tsai2 Shen2) is the Chinese god of prosperity. He can be referred to as Zhao Gongming (Chao
Kung-ming) or Bi Gan (Pi-kan).[1] Though Cai Shen started as a Chinese folk hero, later
deified and venerated by local followers and admirers, Taoism and Pure Land Buddhism also
came to venerate him as a god.
Cai Shens name is often invoked during the Chinese New Year celebrations.[1] He is often
depicted riding a black Tiger and holding a golden rod. He may also be depicted armed with
any one of several iron weapons.
Several versions of Cai Shens political affiliation and subsequent deification are circu-
lated.[1] It is unclear whether he is a genuine historical figure, though the vast majority of
stories agree that Cai Shen lived during the early Qin Dynasty. It is believed that Bi Gan
had a wife with the surname Chen (), or Chan in Cantonese. His son is Quan (). After Bi
Gan was assassinated, his wife and son escaped into the woods. His death eventually marked
the collapse of the Shang Dynasty. Later on, Quan was honoured as the ancestor of all Lins
by Zhou Wu Wang.

In 1048 BC, King Wu called for a meeting of the surrounding dukes at Meng Jin. More
than 800 dukes came to the meeting. In 1046 BC, seeing that the Shang government was in
a shambles, King Wu launched an attack along with many neighboring dukes. In the Battle
of Muye, Shang forces were destroyed, and King Di Xin of Shang set his palace on fire and
burned himself to death.
Following the victory, King Wu established many smaller feudal states under the rule of
his brothers and generals. He died three years later in 1043 BC.

3.9.1 Biography
The Zhou state was located in the Wei River valley in present day Shaanxi Province. At one
point, King Zhou of Shang, fearing Wens growing power, imprisoned him. However, many
officials respected Wen for his honourable governing. So they gave King Zhou many gifts, and
requested Wen s release. These gifts included gold, horses and women. Zhou agreed, and
Wen was released.
King Wen planned the conquest of the contemporaneous dynasty in power, the Shang
Dynasty, but he died before he could accomplish this.
His family name was Ji (Chinese: ; pinyin: j). He married TaiSi (Chinese: ;
pinyin: Tis) and had at least ten sons, two are Zhou Gong Dan and Zhou Gong Wu
(Chinese: ; pinyin: Zhu Gng W). His second son became King Wu of Zhou and
completed his fathers wishes by defeating the Shang army at their capital. He eventually
became the first king of the new Zhou dynasty.
King Wen is also known for his contributions to the Yi Jing, a manual of divination. King
Wen is attributed with having stacked the eight trigrams in their various permutations, to
create the sixty-four hexagrams. He is also said to have written the judgements which are
appended to each hexagram (the line statements are attributed to his son, the Duke of Zhou.
The most commonly used sequence of the sixty four hexagrams is attributed to King Wen
and is usually referred to as the King Wen sequence.

General Pojun). Regardless of how many other stars are present in a domain, when a domain
is void of any of the 14 Major Stars, we have to use the stars present in the opposite domain.
All the stars in the two groups of 73 stars (32 plus 41, in yellow fonts in the slide) found in
the opposite domain must be mirrored into the domain to be interpreted. Merely mirroring
the first 14 Major Stars, as it is widely taught, is wrong.

Chinese literature distinguishes several ways for stars MEETING each other in the
chart; this section is aimed at addressing that issue. Usually, when stars are said to meet in
the english treatise, they are to be taken to mean stars that are present in the Matrix. Those
able to read the chinese text will note what follows. Advanced material distinguishes between
the following positional interactions of the stars:
tonggong Same house. It also refers to stars present in the same domain.
zhao Shining (onto). It is the short form, and the combined meaning, of (gongzhao)

The 14 Major Stars are the closest to the North celestial pole and were regarded as
the most essential stars. These fourteen stars form the North and South Dipper in ancient
chinese astronomy. As a group, they are diversified in their traits, each with their distinctive
attributes. In order to fully understand and have a feel for these stars in reading, it will be
helpful to personify the stars to get an intuition for the stars personalities.
These 14 Major Stars sets the general scene for interpretation. Each star can be perceived
as a major character in a performance, governing different aspects of our lives depending on
which domains they influence. The impact is felt across the entire life, with different emphasis
and effects in different time frames.
Every Major Star has a varied and diversified range of characteristics. They are just like
people. We do not find an absolute saint or a total evil that often among us, do we? One
observation on how they manifest themselves is how bright they are. Otherwise we must
not take a single facet of their qualities as their only characteristics. Therefore, Tanlang the
Pleasure Star has as much positive qualities as negative qualities.
That being said, traditionally, meaning in classic texts, Jumen the Dimming Star and
Pojun the Forward General usually get more negative comments than others. This is because
the old Chinese society prefers humility and settledness, which are not exactly the qualities
that these two stars excel in. Conversely, Tianfu the Finance Minister traditionally gets the
most praises as it represents stability.
(Polaris) Emperor
As the first star and the leader of the pact, Ziwei can be likened to a ruler, the ultimate in
power. The Emperor (or King, depending on your culture) is most apt for describing its traits.
Sun
Symbol - humane, idealistic, bright, with many ideas to contribute, extreme, and active.

Person - for a man-representing his father, himself, his son, his male friend, and superior.
for a woman-representing her father, her spouse and her son. It also represents politician,
guardian, and principal. Body - eyes, face, blood and intestines.
Moon
Symbol - soft, romantic, clean, and observant. For a male subject -represents his mother,
his spouse, his secretary and his daughter. for a woman-represents her mother, herself, and
her daughter. It also represents fortuneteller, prostitute, and moonlighter. Body - skin, the
womb, and urethra.
Contentment
Tong means agreement, thus it represents peacefulness and harmony. The star is about taking
life easy, being passive and non-antagonising, and hence, contentment is acquired easily. It
possesses the traits of going for comfort and pleasure in life.

Symbol - recalcitrant, free thinking, sentimental, seeking self-improvement, and a little psy-
chopathic. Person - justice, soldier, traveller, masseur, risk-taker, and prisoner. Body -
intestines and pimples. It is very difficult to use one name to personify its diverse qualities.
In fact, Lianzhen in Chinese - chastity and honesty hardly give a clue to what it actually
means. Perhaps perceiving as a consummate politician may be apt, where the outward
colourful predisposition belies a potentially wicked inner nature. This star is primarily about
emotions, money, and blood, but more about the indulgence in feelings and emotions. Al-
though all of them carry a diverse range of traits, some of them are more complex than others.
Lianzhen is basically artistic, passionate, and very emotion-driven, and it can represent luck
with reference to wealth, blood or feelings. Moreover, Lianzhen is also very sensitive to other
Major Stars and Main Stars (the supporting cast of Auspicious Star, Adverse Stars, and the
Enhancers) present, therefore, sometimes, merely looking at Lianzhen alone cannot reveal

enough information. Lianzhen is one of the two major stars that experience the greatest shift
in gamut when found in a good versus a wanting star field.
(Dubhe)
Symbol - generous, impatient, spontaneous, amorous, selfish, risk-taking, entertaining, and
day dreamer. Person - entertainer, teacher, priest, guest relations officer and gambler. Body
- genitals. Tanlang carries a very wide range of qualities too. While it may be the most
materially/physically indulgent, it has also the quality to be very spiritual. Tanlang is one
that has the most natural inclination to metaphysics too. With Lianzhen, it is one of the two
major stars that can exhibit bipolar behavior - it can also be selfish and accommodating at
the same time.
The representative of this star is the eldest son of Zhou Wen Wang (), Bo Yi().
Heavy, strong and full appearance. The subject is honest, modest, polite and frank. Though
at the same time the subject is pretentious and easy to be affected by the words from other
people. The one is capricious, suspicious, narrow-minded, acts impetuously rather easily.
, of Earth element, is the leader of all the stars; the chinese name for this star is
the basis for the name of this numerological system. Where it falls in the subject chart rep-
resents one area of main focus; where the subject may also come across as demanding and
imperial.
It represents dignity and esteem. Likening to an emperor personifies the quality of high
ambition, far-sightedness, pride, power and might. It represents a strong character person in
Self Domain. It is one of the two natural leaders among the 14 Major Stars. However, its
capacity to lead shall depend on other stars present in the Matrix ().
The most esteemed structure consists of a court filled with good officials in the matrix. It
indicates an Emperor who is strongly supported. Preferably with stars that occur in pairs are
both present, for instance, the Left Deputy and the Right Deputy both appearing
in the Matrix. It is equally good when the pair-stars are placed in the two adjacent houses
on either side of the domain. The placements of pair-stars in the two adjacent houses create
the Flanking Effect, which exerts great influence to the domain concerned too. A team as
such paves the way for an illustrious and brilliant career for the Emperor.
Next, we have the grade of a capable ruler. It is an Emperor who finds Auspicious Stars
(good officials) and Inauspicious Stars (bad officials) both present in the Matrix. However,
the Auspicious Stars have to outnumber the Adverse Stars. The presence of imperial subor-
dinates ensures that the ruler is capable of achievements.
An isolated Emperor is one who gets no subordinates at all. This means that both the
Auspicious Stars and the Adverse Stars are absent in the Matrix. It is like an Emperor who
roams the wilderness alone without any accompanying officials. For a personality, this in-
dicates one who holds pride, vision and ideology dearly, but without any assistance, these
dreams cannot be brought to fruition.
7.1. ZI WEI EMPEROR 71
The worst grade is a despotic ruler occurs when his imperial court is void of Auspicious
Stars for assistance, but rather, many or all of the Adverse Stars are present in the matrix.
There can be some achievement in life, but they will be overshadowed by many failures, or
drastic failures. In , it indicates the negative personality traits typically associated with
a person in power, such as arrogance, prejudice, being extremely opinionated, dominating
and generally unreasonable.
In summary, does not fear the effects of adverse stars, rather it is the lack of able
assistants to carry out his grand visions that is worrying.
The less appropriate domains to be placed with the Emperor are the interpersonal

The representative for this star is Jiang Ziya(), who was military strategist for King
Wen() and assisted King Wen with conquering his states. Jiang Ziya was known for his
kindnesss, wisdom and gentle nature. He has long and thin face and moderate figure. He is
not tall but not short. Yet, he is quick-tempered, oversensitive and sentimental.
Tianji, of Wood element, represents kindness and rules the Siblings Domain. This star
is chiefly about wit, adaptability, and changes. For a person, it means the most intelligent,
and possibly the most learned, among the Fourteen Major Stars.
A Tianji person is quick witted, learns fast and thinks fast, and is capable of multi-tasking.
He is an analyst, a planner, and a strategist all in one. However, it does not possess the stature
of a leader. An ultimate leader does not need to be intelligent, but he must be decisive, strong,
and steadfast. Tianji the Chief Advisor represents the opposite. For this reason, it is not
advisable for Tianji to go into traditional business, especially in sole-proprietorship.
Other than the fundamental observation of how bright it is, the main assessment for Tianji
the Chief Advisor is whether it gets to meet the Status Star and the Reputation
Star. They provide it with many opportunities in life, in addition status and reputation. A
wise brain needs the right opportunities to shine and gain recognition.
A principle of is balance. Therefore, it is not that appropriate when Tianji the
Chief Advisor gets to meet the Literacy Star or the Eloquence Star. Wenchang and
Wenqu represent talent and intelligence too. combined with and is considered
unbalanced. However, it is fine if it is placed with Tiancai , and and , because
these stars represent talent in special skills.
As is not as strong as a true leader, it is considerably negative when it gets to meet
the Adverse Stars and the Negative Enhancer. These stars would expose its weaknesses,
including indecisiveness, fickle-mindedness and inconsistency. You can notice well that these
descriptions are the negative manifestations of those same qualities that we have talked about.
The Adverse Stars would also make life considerably hard for a person, as compared with
for people of the Major Stars of more steely nature.
Since the Chief Advisor is about changes, it is basically not too appropriate to be
placed in Wealth Domain and Properties Domain. Changes means impermanence, and thus
the connotation of coming and going nature, and it is not the best description for wealth and
assets.
The coming and going nature, manifests in the Peers Domain too, therefore, it pays for

turnover rate of subordinates. In Siblings, Love and Offspring Domains, it also means that

When a new one does not how to carry out, the god will give him good fortune to help

increased to supply the shortage of good fortune.
2. Intelligence: Some artists have plenty of spirit life but shortage of substance. It is not
easy to have good fortune and intelligence at the same time. Common people have
thick happiness, the ingenious people have thin happiness. The intelligent star such as
and , it is absolutely not hua-lu.
3. and disasters: Happiness might hide disasters and disasters must be the depen-
dence of happiness. Do not be arrogant and do bad thing due to having authority,
otherwise the disasters might come.
4. Content: means not content to the reality. Happy is he who is content. Then he
will not be insulted in lifetime. For the salary, commanding officer, or elders, content
still is the suitable for the one facing to these people.
Tiantong is one of the two Major Stars that are well liked by the traditional Chinese
society because it is peaceful and non-antagonising. It is of Yang Water and it represents
blessings, or blessedness. The other Major Star that gets all the praises is Tianfu the Finance
Minister. In a feudal society, an element in the society must be conforming and not rebellious.
Tiantong the Contentment Star is not so much about being a conformist, but it definitely is
easy going.
For the 14 Major Stars other than the Sun and the Moon, which need no expla-
nation in their names, I have preferred to personify the rest when giving them English names.
However, out of the twelve stars, there are four that are not easy to do it. If I were to stick
with naming Tiantong as an officer, it can be likened to one who takes charge of dining and
entertainment for the Emperor. Obviously, there is no common name in English for such an
appointment, but from the description, it will help one to remember that Tiantong is about
going for fine taste and pleasure in life, and not about fighting for achievements in life, or to
conquer life. And, by adding the English word contentment, one would have a good grasp of
its basic traits.
7.5. TIAN TONG PLEASURE SEEKER 97
Basically, Tiantong the Contentment Star is the least driven to go for high achievements
in life, unless what the person enjoys doing much does provide room for achievement. This
implies that a Tiantong person has to go into trades that he/she loves in the first place. It
could be food and beverages, hospitality trades, beauty trades, the music industry, and so
on, and I realise that an area in the modern world could allow many young Tiantong people
to be accommodated: the computer gaming industry.
Some classic texts described a Tiantong structure that is placed with Lucun the Treasurer
and Hualu the Flow Enhancer as excellent. I beg to differ, if it is not a structure that comes
with Tiankui and Tianyue, the pair of Auspicious Stars that brings great opportunities. If
Tiantong the Contentment Star person is blessed with double Lu (Lucun and Hualu) but
not Tiankui and Tianyue, the subject can become too indulgent in emotions and hobbies,

is attached with Huaquan the Power Enhancer, and the combination makes a person more

A special feature of Tiantong when it is placed in the Self//Triangle (San-
fang) is that there are many chances in life to strike out into some hobby business from
scratch, and I call it the start-anew nature.
In interpersonal relationship domains, the blessedness of Tiantong indicates generally
good bonding with the counterparts, except in Love Domain, where its start-anew nature
may also rule, suggesting bad omen for marriage. Thus, Tiantong the Contentment Star in
Love Domain does not give a straightforward analysis.
The star is a happy-go-lucky star. It lacks direction and a sense of urgency to get
anything done, or to control anything. Often people with the in their main Courts, like
Self, , , find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that good things come
with adversity.
This is because while harmful transformation by , and harmful stars cause him stress
and difficulties, they also help make this star more disciplined and better able to progress.
Good stars and transformations make him happy, but he may not get anywhere in life and
develop unhealthy habits, like promiscuity, substance abuse...etc.
also makes it difficult to stick to commitments, so late marriages is advised, or if the
marriage has recovered from a bad patch, chances are, itll be good later on.

, of Fire property, is the most complex star among the fourteen Major Stars because
its traits vary most widely. The Chinese words Lian and Zhen mean honesty and chastity, but
it takes stringent conditions for to live up to these meanings. For a start, there must not
be any Adverse Stars in its matrix. Next, it matters much what dual Major Star combination
does it form (these would be discussed in dual star chapters).
At the other end of the spectrum, Lianzhen is also the Secondary Peach Blossom - the
capacity to captivate the opposite gender, and it is about indulging in emotions, hence, the
Star of Passion. If you have grasped these characteristics of Lianzhen, you would comprehend
why it represents Confinement/Imprisonment (hua qi wei jian) in the classic text. For a
person who has not the highest grade of Lianzhen in Self Domain, he/she is always easily
trapped/confined/imprisoned by his/her emotions.
A person can be gracious and often exudes humour and friendliness, but he/she may
be very rigid with principles. Thus, do not expect a Lianzhen person to bend the rules easily

To assess affinity, compare the Annual Spouse domains of the two persons, followed by as-
sessing the Decade and Destiny spousal domains for the big picture.
To assess the compatibility between the personalities of the couple, first look to the Des-
tiny Domain master star and assess the compatibility between the to stars of the person.
Assess the Decade and Annual Destiny master stars then after. If the Destiny master stars
are compatible, the couples relationships are pleasant and feel close to each other, so too
does the effect of the Decade Destiny master stars.
If the Decade master stars are in conflict, the couple is not exactly suitable for each other,
quarrels and fighting are common, until separation or death.
Yin-Yang Theory
The Yin-Yang Theory is a rather a good way to fit people together, though society is now
more balanced in the way of power-distribution tolerance between the two genders.

Assessing Twins
A commonly asked question of Destiny consultants, whether with the intention to provoke
dispute, or out of a genuine desire to learn is: How do you read charts for twins? Since the
times are the same, does it not imply a same destiny?.
Psychology has long answered the behavioural issues between twins. Though genetically
predisposed to have the same diseases, actual documentations of twins have showed that
beyond that, they do not share much else in common by way of life. So then, is there any
need at all in to change the chinese hour for the later twin? We do not need to fudge
the time parameter, but we perform one of the following operations.
1. After we have made the chart according to the input, the elder twin takes the original
chart. With all the positions of the stars intact in the chart, we shift the domains using
the Siblings Domain as the Destiny Domain for the younger twin.
Therefore, the younger twin has the positions of the twelve domains move one space
like a dial in anticlockwise manner.
2. OR: The younger twin takes the original chart. The elder twin takes the chart with the
positions of the twelve domains rotated one space clockwise. The stars are not rotated
along with the domains.
Choose whichever is suitable for that particular pair of twins. I must emphasize that
throughout the entire treatise the stance we take has always been about obtaining accurate
practical results rather than a theoretical argument about which would be correct.
With the above method it is immediately apparent, merely from the charts,that
the personality and the trends in life for twins are never the same.

More often than not, on the first analysis - if your charting is right and you have recorded
your birth data correctly - you might see things that dont fit. Remember when you are
looking at your natal chart, you are seeing your life as a whole. That is many years squeezed
into 12 boxes.
Next, check the Decade chart. Where is the 10-year Self court located? What are the new
transformations for these decade? Where are the flying stars?
The Decade chart presents the life situation for a particular decade. It governs the
medium-term happenings and changes in the subjects life. While the natal readings still
hold true, this decade has its interesting events. Enjoy the good things, ignore the bad...no
dont ignore the bad, just bear them in mind, take steps to avoid the pitfalls but dont mope
over them.
If you wish, you can try to analyse the 1-year charts. These describe the small changes,
the ups and downs we face day to day.
Annual readings are not suitable for use in long-term planning. There is no need to analyse
them for detail, but very useful to get a feel for what is to come in a coming year, or trying
to assess the reasons behind certain accidents etc.
