MUST BE BASED ON GOD'S WORD

INTRODUCTION: The Real Value of the Present Day Bible Study.

DID NOT READ THE FINEPRINT: There was once a man who spent a month on a
luxurious cruise ship. However, while on the trip he did not eat the delicious food they served.
He was sure he could not afford it. He lived for the whole time on milk and crackers which he
had brought along. He did this, because he never bothered to read his ticket which stated that all
the delectable food served on the ship was free!

MILLIONAIRE LIVING IN POVERTY: There was another man who lived in poverty for
Fifty years until he read the contents of a document kept under his bed. It stated that he was the
sole heir of a hundred million dollar property!

In the same way, there are blessings that we do not yet enjoy, because we do not read the
Scripture. It's too bad that many people have yet to read the Bible.

Jesus said in Matthew 22:29, "You are in error because you do not know the scriptures or the
power of God."

(What did Jesus say are the sources of errors? Answer: not knowing he Scriptures and not
knowing the power of God.)

Why should we be miserable in life when we can know and experience the wealth of God's book,
the Holy Bible?

Dark History: The Holy Bible used to be one of the Forbidden Books named by The Catholic
Council of Toledo, 1229.

But God has changed that today.

There is a worldwide movement today toward studying the Bible. The Bible has become more
and more popular.

WHY ARE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE TODAY DRAWN TO THE STUDY OF THE
BIBLE?

I. BECAUSE IT IS THE SIGN OF THE LAST DAYS!

The excitement today is because of the Bible's SIGNIFICANT INFORMATION

CONCERNING THE END TIMES!

A. (Mat 24:3) As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him
privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your
coming and of the end of the age?"

(Mat 24:14) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a
testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

What is the sign of His coming & the end of the age?

B. (Rev 1:3) Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are
those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Read It... for the time is near!

C. (Luk 12:46) The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect
him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place
with the unbelievers.

(Luk 12:47) "That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does
not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.

(Luk 12:48) But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will
be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be
demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be
asked.

Ignorance of His will excuses no one!

D. (2Th 1:7) and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen
when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

(2Th 1:8) He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our
Lord Jesus.

(2Th 1:9) They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power

(2Th 1:10) on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at
among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our
testimony to you.

Faith, and obedience to the Gospel are important in preparing for the time that Jesus will come
again.

II. BECAUSE OF ITS SUFFICIENT MESSAGE!

Enough information is available in the Bible to teach us what we need to know about Jesus
Christ.

A. (Joh 20:30) Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples,
which are not recorded in this book.

(Joh 20:31) But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Not everything that Jesus did was recorded, but what was written is sufficient to accomplish its
intention:
"That you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, and that by believing you may have life in His
Name!"

B. (Pro 30:5) "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in
him. (Pro 30:6) Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

Man is prohibited to add anything to God's Word!

See also (Rev 22:18) I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book:
If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
(Rev 22:19) And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take
away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in
this book.

(Rom 3:4) Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: "So that you
may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge."

"Let God be true and every man a liar!"

C. 1 Co. 4:6. "Do not go beyond what is written!"

D. Dt. 29:29. The secret things that God chose not to reveal belong to the Lord our God, but the
things revealed belong to us and to our children forever!

III. BECAUSE OF ITS SAVING POWER!

The interest today is not in religion but in SALVATION!

A. The Gospel is God's power to save those who believe!

(Rom 1:16) I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the
salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

B. The Scriptures is able to make you wise for salvation.

(2Ti 3:15) and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able
to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

C. Accept the Word planted in you, which can save you.

(Jas 1:21) Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and
humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

D. Hearing God’s Word is essential to salvation:

JOH 5:24. "Whoever hears My Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will
not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

CONCLUSIION:

1. After the nations of the world have been given a chance to hear, Jesus will come!
(Mat 24:14) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a
testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
2. Then a famine of hearing the word of the lord will come!
(Amo 8:11) "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send
a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of
hearing the words of the LORD. (Amo 8:12) Men will stagger from sea to sea and
wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find
it.

PRAY FOR PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS.

1PE 1:24-25. "All men are like grass that withers and falls, but the Word of the Lord stands
forever!"
