The Benefits of Great Music

Real music is art, entertainment, pleasure, and medicine or the body and soul. I love

music and I listen to music since Im a child. My father showed me what great music is and he

helped me to find my style in music. Unfortunately, Im not playing in any instrument, but I

always loved to hear live music. Still, music has a great meaning and place in my life and in my

heart. I have the certain type of music to all of my activities. For studying, I used to listen to

some classical music like Mozart, or Beethoven. For the everyday life, I would like to listen to

some soft-pop music, those always make me feel better. And for sports and basketball, I used to

listen to some dynamic hip-hop or rap songs, because it always helps me to focus my mind and

body. There are several types of research that support my observation and my theory: music

keeps the body healthy, helps the body to focus, concentrate and helps the mind to generate more

and more information while a person is learning.

First of all, music has a great effect healing and managing pain. Listening to your favorite

song, artist or album can help you regenerate health, strength, relieve pain and sickness. New

York Academy of Sciences has conducted studies about musics positive effects on health and

immunity. Music has a direct effect on the brain, and brain activity. It also helps reduce the

sensation, postoperative and chronic pain. With the effect of pain relief, it also reduces

depression and reduces the need for medication and painkillers. The particular rhythm of a song
can also help with a persons health. Music can control the heartbeat, blood pressure and breath-

taking habits of a person. For example, by listening to slow, relaxing music a person can reduce

his or her blood pressure, at the same time with fast songs, our heartbeat and concentration gets

sharper, and our mind gets in the alert thinking zone. Musical tempo brings other positive

effects. Different types of music with different rhythm have an influence on the heartbeat at it

can also help with high blood pressure. Another interesting fact, a daily portion of ones favorite

pop melodies, classical music or jazz, can speed recovery from debilitating strokes, according to

the latest research.

Secondly, listening to music next to studying can increase the focus and concentration of

a person. Classical (Baroque and Mozart) music, with 60 beats per minute beat pattern, activates

the left and right parts of the brain. The simultaneous left and right brain action maximize

learning and retention of information. The information being studied activates the left brain

while the music activates the right brain. Listening to Classical music, particularly Mozart has a

great effect on a persons performance on cognitive tests. However, listening to a personally

amused song has a positive consequence on cognition, and keeping up attention.

Lastly, music can improve physical performance. Music reduces muscle tension and

improves body movement and coordination. Listening to music that, motivates you will make

physical work easier and helps you warm up faster. It also activates muscle memory. Particular

music activates muscles and higher the blood pressure, which also helps with physical activities

and body movement. This is one of the main reasons why dancing is so enjoyable. Dancing,

most of the times, an easier physical activity than any other sport, the music and the rhythm

effects the body and makes the dancing movement easier.

Overall, music has a lot of benefits and helps to be a healthier person. Listening to music

has an enormous effect on health conditioning, pain relief, reducing blood pressure, reduce the

need for medication. It also effective with brain activities, enhances intelligence, learning and

IQ, and last but not least, music helps with physical performance. Music is clearly one of the

greatest inventions in the history of the mankind, listening to it, is not only enjoyable and make

people happier, also its that, it makes people healthy and helps them improve their intelligence

and concentration. I would recommend 1 Classical song or 1 overture for every single day, who

wants to study more effectively. It helped me a lot, and I also feel more intelligent, and more

relaxed. Music truly is a medicine.
