Final Evaluation
General Comments: N/A - No opportunity provided for performance, not witnessed
As the university supervisor for Courtney Williams, I am able to 1 - Novice - Candidate shows awareness and beginning skills
2 - Developing - Candidate skills and awareness levels are developing
offer several reflective comments about her professional 3 - Effective - Candidate consistently demonstrates competence with
development during the sixteen-week student teaching experience minimal assistance or prompting
in the social sciences at Baxter Springs High. Under an effective 4 - Advanced - Candidate consistently demonstrates a high degree of
role model, Courtney was extremely reliable, positive, and competence functioning independently
professional. Throughout the experience, she consistently
possessed a caring and calm interactive demeanor all the while
trying to learn something new every day. She openly showed a
strong personal philosophy that all her students would learn and
consistently tried various strategies to make it happen. It was
obvious that she made a positive impact both on her students and
even on her cooperating teacher. From day one, she was invested
in the education of her students and truly wanted to help each one
learn what was being taught. Over the semester, it was evident that
she had a very positive learning experience and acquired a number
of skills and attitudes to be a very effective educator.

As she assumed her duties, Courtney identified and effectively

practiced numerous policies and procedures that created an
encouraging classroom atmosphere. In her lesson planning, she
was always organized around clear objectives connected to
standards, and she effectively tried numerous innovative strategies
and instructional technologies to meet these outcomes. She had a
strong history and governmental knowledge base and made her
teaching fresh and appealing to the students by using project-
based learning, cooperative strategies, and interesting class
discussions. Her classroom management system effectively
covered specific rules, and she efficiently practiced a discipline
hierarchy of positive and negative actions to reinforce desired
behaviors. She set high expectations for her students behavior and
clearly communicated those expectations to her students who
responded well and followed her rules because of the respect she
developed. In watching her and in talking with her students, it was
evident a very positive student rapport and mutual appreciation was
developed, even with struggling students. Her teaching was always
sequential, appropriately paced, and used available educational
technology to orchestrate a well-taught class. She effectively
developed the skills of questioning (equal distribution, wait time,
probing, and level variation) to involve all her students. In essence,
she showed the skills of a highly effective teacher.

To supplement her experience, Courtney is to be commended for

participating in a number of after-school activities. She attended
staff development opportunities, parent-teacher conferences, as
well as faculty and departmental meetings, and demonstrated the
necessary social skills to professionally interact with other faculty
members and school administrators. Over the course of the
semester, she developed a strong school law knowledge base and
practiced what she learned through ethical interaction with her
students and staff. From the first day of her experience, she was an
active and involved student teacher.

In her course work, Courtney analyzed her teaching and learning

styles through multiple instruments and constructed lessons that
varied instructional and assessment methods to fit her students
diverse learning styles. She was exceptionally attentive to relating
the lesson's material to the lives of her students. Her professional
portfolio website helped to document most all these teaching
competencies. Her Teacher Work Sample was successfully
completed and showed quantitatively documentation on how she
made a difference in student learning. As a result of her
experience, Courtney developed a very strong foundation to begin
her first year of teaching. I am very proud of her and know she will
become an excellent teacher. She will not only be a great asset to
any school but a positive role model for the next generation.
Without reservation, I highly recommend Mrs. Williams.
