VMRC Intergenerational Choir Rehearsal Plan 2
Goals
Good Morning VMRC! Im Maggie and Im so happy to see you this morning!
Please open your music booklets to page 29 to our song What Child Is This.
My goals for today are to learn to B section, and to then run the whole piece with both the
A and B section.

Teach Section B: Bass

I am going to sing m. 9-16 twice, once on solfege and once on text. The second time I
sing, everybody please hum the bass line as I sing.
Sing m.9-16, bass, twice
Choir hums second time through
Now can just the basses sing that much on text.
Basses sing m.9-16 on text
Now lets move on to the alto line.

Teach Section B: Alto

I am going to do the same thing and sing the alto line two times. The second time
everyone be an alto and hum along with me.

Now just altos sing that much on text.

Now lets teach the B section to the tenors.

Teach Section B: Tenor

Tenors, please listen as I sing m.9-16 on solfege.

Tenors, that part is very similar to the A section for you, so I think you all can jump right
in on text!

Lets go ahead just add the sopranos on, since I think they know the melody well.
Run Section B

Lets run that again, and this time focus on singing even more correct pitches and
listening across the choir.

Everybody please start at the beginning of the piece, and well sing the whole thing on
text.

*Asses and fix as necessary, run any individual parts that need help
Lets run the whole thing one more time, and this time focus on looking up at me for
dynamics.

Learning summary
Well done today in this song! We are now about 75 - 80% of the way through this piece
and it is sounding lovely! Next time I see you, we will put the whole piece together on
the first verse, and then refine our harmonies and texts on the other verses!
