This exercise is designed to

Circle of 5ths
be played with a metronome.

The circle of +ifths gives a musician a quick reference to a lot of information about all 12 major scales.
Each scale name (i.e. "C") is a +ifth higher than the previous scale name and each step through the circle
adds a +lat (or sharp, depending on direction) from the previous key.

Additionally, the order of +lats or sharps in a key signature can be reproduced using the circle. For
example, four +lats (key of Ab) are Bb, Eb, Ab and Db.

This exercise is designed to teach players every major scale in the order of the circle of fifths. It can be broken
up by scale or to challenge yourself, start on a different scale than the beginning and finish the exercise (be
sure to play all the scales until you arrive back at your starting point).

Do repetition at ALL Dynamic levels and mix up the tempos. Start out slow and gradually get faster while
changing the dynamic being focused on.

*Note: This exercise is designed to played with each hand leading throughout. Utilize this to avoid being a
one-sided percussionist! Make sure quality of sound, volume and height match from hand to hand. Also
check contact points to be sure you are playing in the center of the bar. The mallet shaft is parrallel with the
bar at the attack.
