CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE

VERSE 4.1;-

the royal order should understand the


science of Bhagavad-gt in order to be able
to rule the citizens and protect them from
material bondage to lust.
In the Mahbhrata (nti-parva 348.51-52)
we can trace out the history of the Gt as
follows:
tret-yugdau ca tato
vivasvn manave dadau
manu ca loka-bhty-artha
sutyekvkave dadau
ikvku ca kathito
vypya lokn avasthita
"In the beginning of the millennium known as
Tret-yuga this science of the relationship
with the Supreme was delivered by Vivasvn to
Manu. Manu, being the father of mankind, gave
it to his son Mahrja Ikvku, the king of
this earth planet and forefather of the Raghu
dynasty, in which Lord Rmacandra appeared.
Therefore, Bhagavad-gt existed in human
society from the time of Mahrja Ikvku."

Lust can be conquered by power of
knowledge.
When there is joining of brahamana and
ksatriya then that particular theory
spreads/ becomes socially influential.
Combination of intellectuals and
administrator.
In preaching we give to everyone but
influencing powerful people will spread the
movement far and wide.
VERSE 4.2;-

Gt was especially meant for the saintly


kings because they were to execute its
purpose in ruling over the citizens.

Krishna telling the standard way to receive


this knowledge, in disciplic succession.
Raja controls outer world, rishi controls
inner world. Combination of both is
rajshree.

That knowledge was lost means people were
not behaving ideally, so some doubt may
arise about their activities.
BG message has been misinterpreted
/exploited by many not caring for original
intent.
People can write books but misinterpret the
BG that is grave offence. Ex translator,
translating independent of the speaker.
VERSE 4.3;-

Commentary is bonafide when it is in line


with arjuna ,accepting krishna to be
supreme.

Uttama is that which takes one out of


darkness.
To understand this knowledge one need to be
devotee, every feed needs certain
qualifications.
Ex;-1
1) prof of english cannot make one to
understand quantam physics.
2) mere knowledge of sanskrit cannot make
one understand BG.
VERSE 4.4;-

Arjuna enquiring like this to clarify those
who do not believe krishna to be god /dont
like him to be god.

When we have doubt and somebody doesnt


answers then we need to car park our
question and ask to proper devotee, having
questions is not wrong.
Human body has inate psychological mechanism
to forget pinful mechanism.
Death and rebirth are traumatic so one
looses memory.
Changing body also changes the refrence so
one forgets.
VERSE 4.5;-

a living entity, however great he may be in


the material estimation, can never equal the
Supreme Lord.
a living entity forgets everything due to
his change of body, but the Lord remembers
because He does not change His sac-cid-
nanda body.
The word my, or tma-my, refers to the
Lord's causeless mercy, according to the
Viva-koa dictionary.
VERSE 4.6:-
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
You, the Supreme Lord, are without a subtle
body, and you are all pervading and control
karma, time and all other elements.

Both soul and supersoul are aja and avyaya


but lord is controller of jivas.
Prakritim swam material nature is mu

Prakriti = nature/ body maya = mercy.\
Lord comes by mercy ,never comes under the
control of maya.

VERSE 4.7:-

Dharma has many meanigns.


1) At ultimate level,To love and serve
krishna .
2) Material dharma given by varnashrama.
3) Sadhana bhakti.
Krishna here refers to social arrangement by
which people practice dharma.

lust.
Very inclusivist verse lord saying whereever
there is decline of dharma lord will come .
Externals may be different,butpurpose is

Ex. way of offering prayers may be different
of hindu,muslim , christian.
VERSE 4.8:-

As far as the atheistic are concerned, it is


not necessary for the Supreme Lord to appear
as He is to destroy them, as He did with the
demons Rvaa and Kasa. The Lord has many
agents who are quite competent to vanquish
demons. But the Lord especially descends to
appease His unalloyed devotees, who are
always harassed by the demoniac.
Lord r Ka descends for the specific
purpose of mitigating the anxieties of the
pure devotees, who are very anxious to see
Him in His original Vndvana pastimes.
Therefore, the prime purpose of the Ka
avatra is to satisfy His unalloyed
devotees.
sasthpanrthya [Note: The prefix sam
stands for samyak, correctly. The meaning of
sasthpanrthya therefore is for
correctly establishing dharma which others
cannot do properly.]).

Three purposes of Krishnas coming;-

Adharma means people who are adharmik, they


grab power, pursecute dharmic people, spread
adharma.
Lila avatar; - while doing Lila establishes
some principles of religion.
Yugavatar; - comes to establish dharma.
VERSE 4.9:-

This is one of the most quoted verses by


Prabhupad.
Krishna comes not just make world enjoyable
for us but to call us back.
1) Terrestrial = earthly
2) Celestial = heavenly
3) Spiritual,
Krishnas activities are spiritual not
celestial and certainly not terrestrial.
Westerners could not understand how can god
steal the butter,actually krishnas stealing
is not stealing as everything belongs to
him.
Krishna does such activities to attract the
heart of devotees.

Krishna is hero , yogamaya is
director,although krishna actor he controls
yogamaya, as krishna is script writer.
Yogamaya causes forgetfullness of krishnas
opulence to increase love for him .
Mahamaya causes forgetfullness of krishna.
Without tattva krishna lila is amusing with
krishna tattva krishna lila is amasing.
eko devo nitya-llnurakto
bhakta-vyp hdy antar-tm.

Tat tvam asi should be applied to supreme


lord ,you are that lord.
tam eva viditvti mtyum eti
nnya panth vidyate 'yanya
One can attain the perfect stage of
liberation from birth and death simply by
knowing the Lord, the Supreme Personality of
Godhead, and there is no other way to
achieve this perfection." (vetvatara
Upaniad 3.8)
VERSE:-

it is very difficult for a person who is too


materially affected to understand the
personal nature of the Supreme Absolute
Truth.
because they are too materially absorbed,
the conception of retaining the personality
after liberation from matter frightens them.
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
When they are informed that spiritual life
is also individual and personal, they become
afraid of becoming persons again, and so
they naturally prefer a kind of merging into
the impersonal void.
Some people are too materially attached and
therefore do not give attention to spiritual
life, some of them want to merge into the
supreme spiritual cause, and some of them
disbelieve in everything, being angry at all
sorts of spiritual speculation out of
hopelessness.
One has to get rid of all three stages of
material consciousness: attachment to
material life, fear of a spiritual personal
identity, and the conception of void that
arises from frustration in life.
To get free from these three stages of the
material concept of life, one has to take
complete shelter of the Lord, guided by the
bona fide spiritual master, and follow the
disciplines and regulative principles of
devotional life.

Three obstacles in attaining Krishna.
1) Attachment:-materially attached
one thinks in terms of matter, we

this world that we want from lord.
They think forms means must be matter
2) Fear: - due to fear of failing
relationship, personal dealing, they
become afraid of becoming person
again.
3) Anger: - due to skepticism, they
are frustrated due to varied
opinions, dont commit to any
process.
But diff paths are meant to
understand in different way.
By giving up this attachment, fear, anger
one can practice spiritual life.
Krishna gives assurance that by practicing
like this many in past have attained me.
Hearing about Krishnas glories purifies us.
Bhava: - feel spiritual affection for
Krishna.

VERSE 4.11; -

Gyanis who dont believe in lords eternal


form attain repeated birth and death.

Gyanis who believes in eternal nature of
lords form, seek liberation lord award them
liberation.

Prapadyante is related to upasrita in


previous verse.
1st part of verse shows reciprocal nature
of lord, that think lords activity
transcendental their activities become
transcendental; those who think Krishna in
material way their activities remain
material.
Al path leads to Krishna doesnt make sense
when seen in comparison to other verses and
mood of BG.
Prabhupads logic if all path lead to
Krishna then why Krishna spoke BG.
This verse means to whatever the people are
attracted to they are attracted to some
aspect of Krishna. But attraction to these
things doesnt lead to Krishna, some lead
to Krishna.
We can have infinite longing or we can have
longing for infinite.

VERSE 4.12:-

People do demigod worship in mood of


business, Krishna also fulfills material
desire but also want to protect us from
getting entangled in material things.
If we choose object of worship depending on
quickly attaining the results then those
results may go away also quickly.
VERSE 4.13:-

Brahmana goodness
Ksatriya passion
Vaisya passion and ignorance.
Sudra ignorance.
VCT- The suffix ya in the word ctur-varya
indicates self-interest in the four orders.
Know me as the creator (krtram) of the
system, since it is created from the guas
of prakti which is my energy.

These four are four human types they are


found everywhere in the world.
Brahmana interested in studies
Ksatriya want to be class monitor
Sudra want to serve not much inclined in the
study.
Varnasrama provides social structure for
spiritual advancement, advancement whether

materially or spiritually needs social
structure, Varnasrama provides time wise
support.
Multiple choices create confusion, in
Varnasrama a person gets training in the
profession since his childhood, so easy to
grow.
Lord is not the doer of Varnasrama means he
has not put the people in particular Varna
they are put according to their karma, in
various divisions.ex; divisions in the
school according to intelligence of
students.
VERSE 4.14:-

The living entities are entangled in the


fruitive results of material activities
because of their propensity for lording it
over material resources.
The proprietor never desires the low-grade
happiness such as the workers may desire.
vaiamya-nairghye na spekatvt: the Lord
is never partial to any living entity.
The living entity is responsible for his own
acts. The Lord only gives him facilities,
through the agency of material nature, the
external energy.
He who acts with desire for results is
contaminated by the results.
nimitta-mtram evsau sjyn sarga-karmai
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
pradhna-krabht yato vai sjya-aktaya
The Lord is only the efficient cause for
creation of bodies for the jvas with
mentality of men and devas. The causes of
the variety in the mentalities of men and
devats are the powers of their previous
actions. Viu Pura 1.4.51
He who knows that the Lord is transcendental
to the material world attains liberation.

Work has outside result and the inside


effect, but doesnt happens in case of
Krishna as he complete.
Krishna is transcendental, transcendental
understanding is not theoretical but
transformational.
Devotees are not interested in the battles
but they are interested in the battle of
kuruksetra as it is connected with Krishna
why we are interested in the Krishna because
he is transcendental.
To know Krishna :- doctor knowing about the
report of child ,but mother knows the child
To know about Krishna
For principal neutrality is ideal (gravity),
but a person is reciprocal Krishna is a
person so he is reciprocal. Reciprocity
makes the person lovable.

VERSE 4.15:-

One need only know how to act. To retire


from the activities of Ka consciousness
and to sit aloof making a show of Ka
consciousness is less important than
actually engaging in the field of activities
for the sake of Ka.

Krishna telling that this is time tested


process.
Krishna consciousness is not modern or
ancient but eternal process.
Work itself causes bondage, if done for
fruitive intention but if done with
devotional intention in detached way leads
to liberation.
VERSE 4.16:-

Even wise get bewildered in determining what


karma is and what is akarma, ex yudhistir
getting bewildered after war blaming him.
VERSE 4.17:-

Way of karma is difficult to understand but you
understand what is karma, vikarma and akarma.

Karma: - actions that bring good reactions.
Vikarma: - action which are against
scripture which bring bad reaction.
Akarma: - inaction, action that bring no
reaction.
VERSE 4.18:-

Tongue twister and brain twister.


Karma= action/reaction/system of action
and reaction/one kind of action that is
pious action.
Akarma= inaction/action that produces no
reaction (action on behalf of Krishna no
reaction).
Inaction in action i.e. no reaction to
action. If working for lord ex Prabhupad
vision transformed bad areas into
vaikuntha.
Action in inaction reaction in no external
activity. Inactivity can be criminally
culpable. If doctor not treating the
patient. If arjuna doesnt do activity he
will get the reaction, if renounce then
meditate o sense gratification is more
dangerous
Call of verse goes beyond externals, look
deeper.

Seed of karma will be destroyed by the fire
of knowledge.
Budha people with deep knowledge understand
that although one may be acting will not get
bound as acting without desire for
enjoyment.
Not the renouncer of action but the
renouncer of selfishness is budha.
Krishna recommending renounces selfishness
not the action to Arjuna.

Motive for the person transcendental to


material world act only to maintain body and
soul together.
Maintainance of body and soul together is
according to varna and asrama.
Coperation with supreme whole is out of
love, not the mechanical.

He does not accept engagement in anyone's
service if it might hamper his own service
in Kna consciousness.

Envy of someone is envy of krishna


ultimately.
Not overjoyes in success and depressed in
failure as knows that success depends not
only on me but beyond my efffort.
VERSE 4.23:-

Yagya is not just the fire sacrifice but act


of selflessness.

The more the activities of the material


world are performed in Ka consciousness,
or for Viu only, the more the atmosphere
becomes spiritualized by complete
absorption.
Matter dovetailed for the cause of the
Absolute Truth regains its spiritual
quality.

Words are referring to the componants of
sacrifice.
Brahma is generic word meaning spiritual.
When one acts in the spirit of yagya then
all of ones existance becomes sacrifice.
Spritual masters body is spiritual means it
is being used in the krishnas service.
Arjuna may ask if you want me to yagya then
we will do it somewhere not in the
battlefield.
Krishna explains that battlefield is
sacrifice.
Yagya is not the specific activity but the
principle.

VERSE 4.25:-

All the different varieties of sacrifice


can be placed within two primary
divisions: namely, sacrifice of worldly
possessions and sacrifice in pursuit of
transcendental knowledge.

Different kinds of sacrifices in vedic


fold, for demigods, jnanis sacrifice soul
by merging in brahman.

Cristian understanding true god and false
god, so when they get new terrotery they
destroy the existin places of worship .
Vedic understanding is multilevel
monotheism.
VERSE 4.26:-

naiik brahmacrs, offer the senses such


as ear into the fire of the controlled mind.
This means that the senses completely
disappear in the pure mind. [Note: This
means that the senses stop functioning in
relation to external objects, turning inward
when the mind attains samdhi.]
less controlled brahmacrs, offer the sense
objects such as sound into fires of the
senses. The sense objects disappear in the
senses. [Note: This means that the senses
contact sense objects, but remain detached.]

Essential principle of sacrifice is whatever


we would use un sense gratification to be
used in Krishnas service.
Offering ear in mind means using the mind to
control the the ear will hear, i.e. hearing
only about Krishna not the material sound
vibration.
Offering sense objects in senses means
regulated sense gratification.

VERSE 4.27:-

Here Krishna is talking about the jnana,


regulation over breathing to turn
consciousness inwards.
Jnanis may take shelter of astanga yoga,
bhakti yoga, speculation to turn the
consciousness inwards.
Pran vayu is generic name for all the vayu
and also the one of the vayu.
VERSE 4.28:-

Yataha those who are endeavoring to


advance.
Sp doesnt condemn the others way of
sacrificing like opening the hospital,
school etc. as they are at least doing some
good sacrifice and not engaging in bad
activities.
VERSE 4.29;-

Reducing the eating process is very helpful


in the matter of sense control. And without
sense control there is no possibility of
getting out of the material entanglement.
When the pras become weak, the senses,
being dependent on the pras, become

incapable of grasping the sense objects, and
become merged in the pras.

If we regulate quantity and quality of


prasad it helps in long run.
VERSE 4.30;-

Sense gratification is the root cause of


material existence; therefore, unless and
until one is situated on a platform apart
from sense gratification, there is no chance
of being elevated to the eternal platform of
full knowledge, full bliss and full life.

Initial result of yagnya is purification and


ultimately one attains brahman.
Common principle for all these yagnya
ispurification and liberation although the
external form may be different.
VERSE 4.31;-
Ignorance is the cause of sinful life, and
sinful life is the cause of one's dragging
on in material existence.

Kurusattma means you are best of kuru
dynasty so you will perform scrifices.
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
By being I centered just trying to enjoy
for oneself one doesnt get the
happiness,by sacrificing principle one get
the fulfillment.
Although externally people may be enjoying
but their hearts are empty, smiling faces
but crying heart, just to hide failure.
Highest level of sacrifice is love for
krishna.
Sacrifice means to give up something little
for something great.

VERSE 4.32;-
Karma jan - born from activities of the
body, mind and words
these sacrifices are so arranged that one
can work either with the body, with the
mind, or with the intelligence. But all of
them are recommended for ultimately bringing
about liberation from the body. This is
confirmed by the Lord herewith from His own
mouth.

various yagyas are coming from the vedas.
By understanding the underlying principle
one attains liberation by doing some kind of
activity.

Dravya maya, meaning composed of material
elements such as giving charity, stands for
all the external methods mentioned such as
sense control and starving the pras.

JNANA:- knowledge about our eternal
position and our eternal activity.
Spiritual knowledge, not the impersonal
knowledge, actually it is knowledge about
the Krishna as mentioned ahead in BG.
People who engage intellectual faculty is
better.
Charity is good but better is to increase
our knowledge that Im soul and need to
serve Krishna.

VERSE 4.34;-
The path of spiritual realization is
undoubtedly difficult.
Satisfaction of the self-realized spiritual
master is the secret of advancement in
spiritual life.

Inquiries and submission constitute the
proper combination for spiritual
understanding.
Unless there is submission and service,
inquiries from the learned spiritual master
will not be effective.
One must be able to pass the test of the
spiritual master,
Both blind following and absurd inquiries
are condemned.
When the student is submissive and is always
ready to render service, the reciprocation
of knowledge and inquiries becomes perfect.

Tad vijnrtha sa gurum evbhigacchet
samit-pi rotriya brahma-niham
With fuel wood in his hand, the student
should approach the guru, knowledgeable
of the Vedas and fixed in Brahman, in
order to attain knowledge of Brahman.
Muaka Upaniad 1.2.12
CCP:-
Tap his grace with humbleness,
inquisitiveness and service mindedness.
Humbleness = to admit that I dont know the
way, launching pad to get the knowledge.
Iquisitiveness = by this start seeing what
guru sees.

Sevaya = important to start moving,
knowledge is important but more important is
the aplication.
We should get realisation that serving
krishna we get the happiness more than in
this world.
Spiritual master should come in
parampara.spiritual master lives the
principles taught in scripture which
inspires the disciple to serve in selfless
way and their heart get linked.parampara is
the link of heart based on selfless devotion
.
Piety is in goodness itself not the
spirituality it transforms into spirituality
by connection with the guru.
Guru doesnt come in between us and god but
removes the wall of false ego in between us
and god.
Wall between soul and supersoul is
misconception of bodily
identification.spiritual master removes this
misconception.
Spiritual master connects us with krishna by
telling the authentic way of bhakti.
He who is his own guru is as fool as his own
disciple.
Krishna can do anything but he wants us to
approach the guru by this verse.
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
Krishna rewards exalted devotee by giving
authority over the way out this world. Which
is the most precious thing in this world,
which is like prison,as pure devotees dont
want anything of this world, so in
reciprocation krishna gives them this
authority.
Without surrender to devotees knowledge will
not sink in our heart only theoretical
knowledge will not help.

VERSE 4.35;-
The whole teaching of the Gt is targeted
toward this end: that a living being, as
Ka's eternal servitor, cannot be
separated from Ka, and his sense of being
an identity apart from Ka is called Maya.

Understanding that you are not the body but
the soul, you will not have bewilderment,
which is the quality of the mind.

Free from illusion, see all living being as
spiritual or mine.

(not that you only concerned about the
others, fighters, but they are all mine I
want good of them all)
Freedom from illusion and gaining the
spiritual vision are the two result of this
knowledge.
Seeing anything separate from Krishna is
Maya, even other incarnations should not be
seen as separate from Krishna.

VERSE 4.36;-
Proper understanding of one's constitutional
position in relationship to Ka is so nice
that it can at once lift one from the
struggle for existence which goes on in the
ocean of nescience.
The boat of Ka consciousness is very
simple, but at the same time the most
sublime.

This knowledge can purify everyone and
anyone is Krishna intended to say.
It not as important where we are as where we
are looking.
Indian people who are in goodness are close
to Krishna but they are looking away from
Krishna.

But hippies who were in ignorance/passion
are away from Krishna they were looking
towards spirituality Krishna.
Logical paradox = how sinful person can be
knowledgeable, how he can cross by the boat
of transcendental knowledge
This is rhetorical from karmi point of view
but factual from bhakti point of view.
Prabhupad has given this boat of Krishna
consciousness we need to in this boat dont
jump out, whatever may happen even if there
are conflicts difficulties.

VERSE 4.37;-
Perfect knowledge of self and Superself and
of their relationship is compared herein to
fire.
Though the prrabdha karmas are extremely
weakened by the influence of this knowledge,
they are still situated in the person with
realization of tm, by the will of the
Lord, in order to preach the proper path of
conduct. [Note: If the prrabdha karmas were
completely destroyed, the body of the
devotee, the result of prrabdha karma,
would also disappear, and thus there would
be no one to preach the Lords message.

Krishna describes here how a person doesnt
get bound in karmic reaction.
Knowledge from spiritual master becomes
fire.
In previous example of ocean it was told
that ocean remains but we come out here
everything inside also gets destroyed.

Internal is not mental but spiritual.

time, we have to be patient ,we cant expect
instant things.each mahamantra we are
chanting is purifing us.
Dont be too much problem conscious, with
advancement in spiritual life we will be
naturally happy in simple things.
Our focus should be on krishna not too much
on the short comings , be aware of our short
comings but dont get too much intangled.
We are following the process of purification
and it will happen with time if we stick to
basics.

VERSE 4.39:-
One is called a faithful man who thinks that
simply by acting in Ka consciousness he
can attain the highest perfection. This faith
is attained by the discharge of devotional
service, and by chanting Hare Ka, Hare
Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma,
Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare, which
cleanses one's heart of all material dirt.
Over and above this, one should control the
senses.
A person who is faithful to Ka and who
controls the senses can easily attain
perfection in the knowledge of Ka
consciousness without delay.

Thi verse talk about the glory of having
faith.
Requirement to attain knowledge- faithful
,spiritually attached, dedicated to
practice.
Last verse was kalena so to assure arjuna
here krishna is saying acirena.
Here krishna is saying faith leads to
knowledge.

Knowledge and faith are symbiotic ,
initially one needs a preliminary faith,by
knowledge faith is inreased.
All nine stages in bhakti are progression of
faith,deepening of faith.
Faith has to translate in our action.
I need to regulate my attachment in this
world, regulate the senses.
Academic scholar dont know the inner aspect
of spirituality,as there is know
involvement, without being tat para /
samyantendriya no transformation will
happen.
Only academic study much transformation will
not happen.
Basis of peace is whatever may happen im
servant of krishna and I will keep serving
him. Even if mood not good, surroundings not
favorable, challenges will be there.
When mood is of enjoyer we want many things
to be happening our way but when mood is of
servant we will keep serving whatever may
happen.
Some things we will understand directly by
experience like lust inside,
Something we will understand by
contemplating, like Im not the body but the
soul.
CHAPTER 4 TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE
Somethings we will realize after years of
practice. Like relation of Krishna and
gopis.
Somethings we will be convinced after
purification like sense gratification leads
to misery.
We cannot doubt everything; focus on what is
important, what is central that is the way
of understanding in any field of knowledge.
Our faith will get checked and choked if we
dont categorize the things, like keeping
aside what we are not able to understand
right now, keep peripheral aside and focus
on central.
Reasonable faith doesnt mean we will
understand everything immediately.
VERSE 4.40:-
Out of many standard and authoritative
revealed scriptures, the Bhagavad-Gita is
the best.
Men without faith in God and His revealed
word find no good in this world, or in the
next.
CCP:-
Ignorant, faithless, doubtful will fall
down.
Ignorant = no botheration of spiritual life,
live like animal.

Faithless = know BG but dont have faith in
it.
Doubtful = follow process but doubtful about
result.
They will not be happy as soul is not
situated in its proper state.
Elimination vs. suspension certain thing we
will understand with purification and will
get eliminated but we need to suspend
certain things for time being.
Dont get much bothered about peripheral
things.
We can see the difference happening in our
life by practice of Krishna consciousness we
are becoming more sense controlled, calm,
composed.
Faith is awarded or earned, chosen or given?
It is both we can increase our faith by
practicing things which will increase our
faith like reading scriptre, associating
with advanced devotees seeing them and avoid
those things which causes doubt like
unnecessary reading of iskcon controversy.
There is material available to clear doubts
like cosmology, evolution.
But faith is also awarded.
For increasing faith by choice act for grace
wait.
VERSE 4.41:-

CCP:-
1ST karma is fruitive activity, 2nd karma is
reaction of karma.
Whole focus of chapter is to make Arjuna
work.
VERSE 4.42:-
The yoga system instructed in this chapter
is called santana-yoga, or eternal
activities performed by the living entity.
Ka consciousness is awakened by different
types of sacrifices to the demigods,
sacrifice to Brahman, sacrifice in celibacy,
in household life, in controlling the
senses, in practicing mystic yoga, in
penance, in forgoing material possessions,
in studying the Vedas, and in partaking of
the social institution called varrama-
dharma.
The Lord is definitely the supreme person,
and His activities are transcendental. One
who understands this is a liberated person
from the very beginning of his study of
Bhagavad-gt.
CCP:-
Doubt arisen out of ignorance should be cut
by sword of knowledge.
Knowledge that im not the body but the
soul,when one acts with detachment one will

not get the bondage this kknowledge will cut
all doubt about reaction, bondage.
Krishna asking to fight with the weapon of
this knowledge.
