EDUC 230- education Field Experience

Fall 2017

Rationale Statement-Standard # 6

Standard and Title: Standard #6

Critical Dispositions:

The teacher is committed to the ethical use of various assessments and assessment data to identify
learner strengths and needs to promote learner growth.

Artifact: Lesson Plan 1 Education Field Experience married to Lesson Plan 1 Foundations

In my observations in both lesson plans I realized that teachers strive to accommodate students in
multiple ways. Students who experience hands on guided discovery learning lesson benefit to retaining
the material versus a non-hand on experience. Both lesson plans are mathematical lessons. Students
that are exposed to multiple ways to be assessed with materials that are being used are going to
perform better. When students work together in groups they can also learn from their peers that role
model for them.

In connection to what I learned about teachers that provide guided discovery learning students learn to
multitask, while discovering new findings. Working together helps students stay motivated as well. The
overall goal for the teacher is to see where the students may fall short within their collaborating working
stations. A teacher may ask a question, and observe if the student understands the lesson. Math data is
most helpful where the teacher can recognize who falls short of then lesson.
