Therefore, we recommend beginners to start these projects as these are capable of working for them on their first
attempt itself. Before proceeding with these projects the beginners should know how to use a breadboard and basic BECOME

1. FM Transmitter
FM Transmitter allows you to send as well as receive any external audio source played through MIC with FM (frequency
modulator) band. It is also called as RF (Radio Frequency) modulator or FM modulator.

When the audio from portable audio devices like iPod, phone, mp3 player, CD player is connected to the FM
Transmitter, then the sound from the audio device is broadcasted through the transmitter as an FM station. This is then
picked up on your car radio or other FM receivers when the tuner is tuned to transmitted FM band or frequency.

This is the first stage wherein the converter converts the external audio source output to frequency signals. In the TRENDING ART
second stage the modulation of the audio signal takes place by using FM Modulation circuit. This FM modulated signal
is then laid on to a Radio frequency transmitter. So, by tuning the FM receiver or local FM devices one can hear the Capacitor

audio that is actually sent by the transmitter.

FM Transmitter Circuit

This circuit is used to transmit noise-free FM signal up to 100meters by using one transistor. The transmitted message
from the FM transmitter is then received by the FM receiver passing through three stages: oscillator, modulator, and
amplifier stages.

By adjusting voltage controlled oscillator: VC1, the transmitting frequency of 88-108MHZ is generated. The input voice
given to the microphone is changed into an electric signal and is then given to base of the transistor T1. The oscillated

frequency depends upon the values of R2, C2, L2, and L3. The transmitted signal from the FM transmitter is received
and tuned by the FM receiver.

2. RAIN ALARM
This circuit alerts the user when its going to rain. This is helpful for the home maids to protect their washed cloths and
other material and things that are vulnerable to rain when they remain inside the home most of the time for their work.

Components Required

Probes
Resistors 330K, 10K
Transistors BC 548, BC 558
Speaker
Battery 3V
Capacitor .01mf

The circuit diagram of the rain alarm is shown below.

The rain alarm begins to work and becomes operational when rain water comes in contact with the probe, and once this
happens; there is a flow of current through it, which enables the transistor Q1 that is NPN transistor. Conduction of the
Q1 makes Q2 become active which is a PNP transistor.

Subsequently the Q2 transistor conducts and the current flows through the speaker and the speaker alarms. Until the
probe is in contact with the water, this process repeats again and again. In this system, the oscillation circuit changes
the vibration frequency, and thus changes the tone.

Applications:

The rain alarm system is used for

Irrigation purposes
Increasing the signal strength in antennas
Industrial purpose

3. Flashing Lamps Using 555 Timer

The basic idea here is to vary the intensity of the lamps at a frequency of one minute interval, and to achieve this, we
have to provide oscillating input to the switch or the relay that drives the lamps.

C2-0.01uF

In this system, a 555 timer is used as an oscillator that is capable of generating pulses at a maximum of 10 minutes time
interval. The frequency of this time interval can be adjusted by using the variable resistor connected between the
discharge pin 7 and the Vcc pin 8 of the timer IC. The other resistor value is set at 1K, and the capacitor between the
pin 6 and pin 1 is set at 1uF.

Flashing Lamps Using 555 Timer

The output of the timer at pin 3 is given to the parallel combination of a diode and the relay. The system uses a normally
closed contact relay. The system uses 4 lamps: two of which are connected in series, and the other two pair of series
lamps are connected in parallel to each other. A DPST switch is used to control the switching of each pair of lamps.

When this circuit receives a power supply of 9V (It can be 12 or 15V as well), the timer 555 generates oscillations at its
output. The diode at the output is used for protection. When the relay coil gets pulses, it gets energized.

The common contact of the DPST switch is connected in such a way that the upper pair of lamps receives the supply of
230 V AC. As the switching operation of the relay varies due to oscillations, the intensity of the lamps also varies and
they appear flashing. The same operation occurs for the other pair of lamps as well.

These are the three basic electronic projects for beginners to make them to learn about the components working and
the way of implementing the projects. If you have any doubts regarding these projects or any other information
regarding latest projects and their implementation, you can comment in the comments section given below.
