The students are working on their project.
Talking about recording, and learning about sound waves.
Do a listening log
o They listen to a song and then answer questions as it applies to music technology

National Standards Addressed
Anchor #7. This anchor talks about perceiving and analyzing musical works.
VA SOLs Addressed
They didnt really go through any of the traditional standards, as the standards dont talk
about music technology. This class had a very broad view on music that is more covered
in the core arts standards. It was more about appreciation than understanding.

How did the teacher accomplish the objective?
They used an online google slides presentation to start. Then Mr. Todd gave a
demonstration where they recorded their voices to learn about sound waves.

How did the teachers assess the students?
The students had a worksheet to fill out. They filled out the first couple pages separately,
and then collectively went over the packet, and filled out the last page.

What does the teacher do that helps student learning?
Asks questions that help lead the students to thinking about the answers
Guide them in the right direction without giving them the answers

What does the teacher do that hinders student learning?
Sometimes he allows the students to get a little off task. Other than that nothing really.

What do students do that helps learning?
They willingly participated, even though they didnt necessarily like the song that was
being played.

What do students do that hinders learning?
They were very often off task.
They made comments on the video that were irrelevant to the conversation.

What teacher actions would improve learning?
Nothing really. This was a very effective classroom.
What student actions would improve learning?
Staying on task would help immensely.
