Three young murderers were
sentenced in Marin Superior
Court on Tuesday after listen-
ing to their collateral victims
condemn them as brain-dead
addicts and monsters.
The trio received a collective
165 years to life for a 2015 crime
spree that left two people dead
in Fairfax and San Francisco.
Morrison Lampley, 24, the
gunman, received 100 years to
life. His girlfriend, 19-year-old
Lila Alligood, received 50 years
to life. Their accomplice and
eventual turncoat, Sean Angold,
got 15 years to life.
All three killers offered state-
ments of remorse in the packed
courtroom, partly occupied
by relatives of murder victims
Steve Carter and Audrey Carey.

The sentenc-
ing concluded a case that began
on Oct. 3, 2015, when Carey was
found dead in Golden Gate Park.
She was a 23-year-old tourist
from Quebec, Canada.
Two days later, Carter, a
67-year-old resident of San
Geronimo, was shot to death
while walking his dog along
Old Railroad Grade Fire Road
on Whites Hill. The dog, Coco,
survived a gunshot wound to the
head but lost an eye.
The killers stole Carters car.
Two days later, they were ar-
rested in Portland with the car,
its ranks to flourish.
The gang is known for hack-
ing and stabbing victims with
machetes, drug dealing, prosti-
tution and other rackets. Their
recruits are middle- and high-
school students predominantly
in immigrant communities and
those who try to leave their risk
violent retribution, according to
officials.

quell hate

Task force planned
to address issues

Responding to acts of hate and
anti-Semitism in Mill Valley, the
City Council this week unani-
mously adopted a resolution re-
affirming its commitment to re-
spect, tolerance and compassion
with a plan to appoint a task
force committee to reinforce the
effort.

town, Mayor Jes-
sica Sloan said at
Mondays meeting, McEntee
in which the coun-
cil also decided to
continue a conversation on sanc-
tuary city practices.
A half-dozen incidents of
swastikas scrawled on Mill Val-
ley school campuses and at city
parks are just the most recent acts
of intolerance in the city. Coun-
cilwoman Sashi McEntee said she
was bullied and harassed when
she ran for council in 2015.

Bills target
for-profit
charter
schools

Vowing to fight public school
profiteering, Democratic state
lawmakers have introduced leg-
islation that would either block
or seriously limit for-profit com-
panies ability to operate charter
schools in California.
The two proposals seek to ad-
dress a growing concern among
legislators that Wall Street-traded
companies managing some of
the states charters are raking in
mountains of state aid while pro-
viding students a poor education.
Democratic Assemblyman
Kevin McCarty of Sacramento au-
thored one of the measures, As-
sembly Bill 406, because he said
for-profit firms havent proven
they can manage high-achieving
schools and shouldnt be allowed
to fail any longer on taxpayers
dime even if the Trump admin-
istration thinks otherwise. When
we allow private companies to run
public schools, we invite them to
focus on shareholders and profit
margins instead of on children and
student achievement, McCarty
