The second phase of the governments ambitious mass plantation programme begins on an encouraging note across the State The second phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram (TKHH) programme of mass plantation of saplings got off to a colourful start in Karimnagar town on Friday. The pleasant cloudy atmosphere and intermittent mild showers had come as a blessing for the massive plantation programme in various parts of the town. The programme was launched with a massive colourful cultural rally from the Collectorate office to Circus Grounds, which was flagged off by Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etala Rajender in the presence of Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, MLA G. Kamalakar, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Collector Neetu Prasad, and other district officials. All the dignitaries lead the rally to Circus Grounds. Cultural artists performed amid drum beats and empowered the people about the importance of plantation for the protection of nature. Similarly, some women performed the kolatam dance. Later, the dignitaries participated in the plantation drive at the Circus grounds, Sri Gidde Perumandla Swamy devasthanam in Rampur, and also on the shores of LMD reservoir on the outskirts of Karimnagar town. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that some people have destroyed Mother Nature for their selfish gains in the name of development. He called upon all sections of society to take up plantation and nurture them as their children for bearing fruits in the future. Plants consume carbon dioxide and providing oxygen for the survival of mankind. Mr. Rajender also administered pledge to all the participants for the protection of nature by taking up plantation of saplings. Physicians gesture Similarly, the members of the Telangana Physicians Association, API Karimnagar chapter, also took up plantation and distribution of saplings to their patients. They distributed pamphlets detailing the importance of plants and its protection for a healthy living. TPA leaders D. Raghuraman, Tirupathi Rao, and Sesha Shailaja were also present.
