Preparation

Preparations Take down wing fabric covers and jack up the aircraft. 2.5.5.2 Oil-filling Conduct oil-filling
as per the following procedures: (a) Check piston rod of buffer for fully protruding. (b) Screw out cap of
QXF-32 air charge valve and fit special air charge equipment. (c) Close air relief cock, then open air
charge valve and record indicated pressure value. (d) Slowly open air relief cock to reduce pressure of
the inner cavity of buffer to nil. CAUTION Ensure oil should not flow out. (e) Remove screw from oil
metering hole in upper end of the strut and keep the state for 1.5~2.0 hours so that air in oil can be
fully separated out. (f) Keep piston rod to be perpendicular to the ground, and compress the buffer
strut by 9.6460.039 in (2451 mm) at a speed of not being more than 0.787in/min (20 mm/min). At
this moment, oil level in inner cavity of buffer strut should be flushed with the lower edge of thread
hole of oil metering hole. If the oil quantity is insufficient, fill appropriate hydraulic oil through oil
metering hole and keep it for 20 minutes. Then protrude out the piston rod slowly for 9.6460.039 in
(2451 mm). Compress the piston rod as per the above mentioned method and check oil level till it
meets the requirements. (g) Tighten the screw in oil metering hole (sealing washer should be
replaced). 2.5.5.3 Inflation Charge the buffer strut as per the following procedures ensuring that the
strut is off loaded. 2-16 (a) Check piston rod of buffer for fully protruding. (b) Unplug QXF-32 air
charge valve and connect with special charging equipment fit with a pressure gauge. (c) Connect pipe
of nitrogen bottle with the special charging equipment. (d) Close relief cock of the special charging
equipment. Open charging cock of the nitrogen bottle to slowly charge the inner cavity of the buffer to
255+ 14 psi (18+1 kgf/cm2). Then close the charging cock and keep the pressure for 30 min. If the
pressure keeps unchanged, close the cock of nitrogen bottle. (e) Open relief cock to release the
residual gas from the charging equipment. (f) Remove the charging equipment and plug the charging
valve. Note If charging pressure exceeds specified value, close the cock of nitrogen bottle. Slowly open
air relief cock to reduce pressure to desired value and keep the state for 30 min.. The pressurization of
buffer is generally done indoor at 20oC. Pay attention to the fact that the inner cavity pressure will vary
with ambient temperature after the buffer is fit onboard. If the ambient temperature changes by 10oC,
the pressure in the buffer will vary by 4%. Therefore, inspection is required at the time of season
change for re-pressurization so that the inner cavity pressure of buffer keeps at required pressure
value within operating temperature range. 2.5.5.4 Final process Jack down the aircraft and cover the
wings. 2.5.6 Oil draining and air bleeding of main-wheel strut buffer 2.5.6.1 Preparations Take down the
fabric cover from wings and jack up the aircraft.
