Introduction I will start with a YouTube clip that sings the 5 senses. This
5 mins will get them to calm down from recess and bring them to
the carpet. I will then ask them to recall our 5 senses. As we
talk about them I will ask the students to show me their
body parts as we talk.
Touch Hands On-
Teacher Actions
After we have talked about our 5 senses I will be using
a matching review game. We will play all together. I will
have a seashell, feather, tin foil and pinecone. Students
will have to determine which group they belong to. This
will help check for understanding to create a concrete
start to our lesson.
I will then read I can Tell by Touching by Carolyn
Otts. We will talk about the things we can touch. I will
get them to touch things as we read.
I will explain the activity that students will do when
they get back to their desks. They need to feel the
balloons and match them to the paper. Once they have

tables Students will have time back at their desk to work on
(Activity #1) this activity.
Once they are done I will hand them a next activity to
work on. I can touch a _____. They will draw a picture
of something they can touch.
I will have extra books and literacy words for students
to learn with if they finish early.
Clean up : I will ask students to return the balloons and
papers back to me. Clean up their tables and sit quietly
for a table tally mark.

Student Actions
Students will be answering question on the carpet. They
will be using their prior information they have learned
and applying it to activities on the carpet. Then I will
have them back to their desk to work on an activity.
They will work together as a table and share with each
other.

Assessment Evidence
I will know they have learned when I can see many
students answering the correct 5 Senses. I will know
they have understood the types of feeling when they
can label correctly.

I will ask students to return the their seats and we will talk
Closure: about each textures inside of the balloon. I will review what
5mins was in each balloon. We will sum up with how we knew what
they felt like by using our sense touch.
