My name is Efrian Muharrom, I am 23 years old. I have been taken the Bachelor
degree in Forestry and graduated with honors from Forest Products Technology
Department, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with GPA 3.10/4.00.
My thesis for the completion of study titled Cajuput Oil Production Cost Analysis; A Case
Study in Jatimunggul Lama Cajuput Oil Factory, KPH (State Forest Enterprise) Indramayu,
Perum Perhutani (Public Company of Indonesian Forestry) Unit III West Java and Banten.
I was working this topic due to my interest on forest economic, further more with forest
valuation, which plays important role in establishing policies to support both economic and
social welfare growth, especially in developing countries.
Learning is a never ending process, more over related to the importance of
developing human resources in order to contribute to the development of nations, therefore
I am really interested to join MSc-EF program. Even more with my previous strong
background and experiences, I want to study in the field of environmental management
policies in Europe especially that links with sustainable forest management; Forest resource
economics and finance, Forest policies, Forest industries, Land use and other related
courses.
In the future I am planning to do my master research that concern about forest
valuation in Europe and its influences to policies in European forestry, in order to
benchmark and comprehend the implementation of forest valuation in Indonesia.

My previous education was medicine. Since the beginning, I have strong passion and
curiosity on European studies in interdisciplinary context. As we know that this regional has a very
great history of civilization. Furthermore, many scholars mentioned that the countries in this region
will be the next worlds main power as it shows many developments in many sectors; not only in
the term of hard diplomacy but also the soft diplomacy. I have very high curiosity and passion
on how international people relate each other through many kinds of interaction, communication
and cooperation in the term of interdisciplinary studies. Furthermore, in this globalization era,
international relations are not dominated by the state actors anymore but already spread to grass-
root actors (multi-track diplomacy). I want to connect and build up my international networks, and
also promote Indonesia Europe relations through medicine.
For my career goals, I want to be a clinician and researcher with Europe expertise. I have
a strong commitment to realize the concepts of clinician; 1) emphasizing knowledge, 2) growing
the maturity and 3) developing the good manners. Of course, to be a good clinician and commit
with those concept, I have to increase my quality of knowledge and research. Beside of being a
clinician and researcher, in the future I want to be the head of international office in my institution.
Nowadays, building up and maintaining an international network between the medical educational
institutions is highly needed, especially in this more globalize world. My mid-long term goal is
developing the Europe-Indonesias relations and cooperation, not only in political, economic, and
security aspects, but also in medical aspects.
When I read this program, I found that IMAS NCCU has a comprehensive curriculum on
Asia Pacific Studies, specifically in East Asian Studies, that is suitable with my study focus and
passion. That is why; I am highly motivated to continue my study in IMAS NCCU Taiwan. Having
an IMAS degree from NCCU will help me to broaden my perspective and knowledge, and also
increase my capability to be a qualified lecturer and East Asian studies expert. Furthermore,
Indonesia and Taiwan relations are still developing and I do hope that in the future it will grow
more and more. With my experience studying in IMAS NCCU Taiwan, it will give me a direct
experience and knowledge about Taiwan itself.

I am interested in Obstetrics and Gynecology field. As for my research, I will focus on..
So, I want to learn and do a comprehensive research about this topic during my study in.. The
reason why I am interested in this topic is because Indonesia has there are a lot of conflict
which. To get a better understanding and comprehension, it is important for me to do
comparison studies.
Having research in this field will give me a vision about how to manage the minority issue.
Furthermore, in my opinion there is some similarity between Indonesia and Europe on it. By
comparing the medical issue between Indonesia and Europe, I hope I can have valuable
knowledge and understanding, so that it can be implemented in Indonesia to manage the
problems. As for the reason why I choose and conduct this research theme in Europe is because
of the educational atmosphere in Europe that is conducive and supportive.
After seeing the curriculum, I found some courses that are suitable with my study and
research focus. Beside of taking the required courses, I will also take the elective courses that
are related to my research. Those courses are:
Chinese Philosophy and Religion
Ethnic Development of Mainland China
International Status of Mainland China
Political Development of Mainland China
Research Methods in China Studies
Spatial Development of Mainland China
Social Development of Mainland China
Cultural Ethnic Structure of Taiwan
During my stay and study period in Europe, I also planning to increase my ability in English
language and learn more European culture. As for the length of time, Im planning to complete
my degree in ..in two years (until mid-year 2020), including for my thesis. Of course,
during these two years, I will do my best effort to finish my study on time, without ignoring the
quality of my research and study.

I have good academic record and achievement, not only in my bachelor degree time in
University of Jenderal Achmad Yani but also in... I ever joined several international events and
conferences in The Netherland, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Romania and Thailand, which gives me
adaptability skill in multi-cultural and international atmosphere. It also helps me to increase my
ability on using foreign language and communication fluency.
I also join several organizational activities which increase my leadership skill, such as;
managing work, adaptability, decision making, and initiating action. In my organization Research
and Learning Unit, I am responsible to provide scholarship information to the university students
and also give some seminars/ workshop to increase their motivation and courage to study abroad.
From it, I learn how to develop and coach others. And from my working experience, I got chance
to increase my skill on writing and engaging the public through online and printed media, where I
responsible for the communication and content management.
Beside of that, I always interested with something new such as cultures. So thats why,
during my study in European, Im planning to increase my proficiency in English. In exchange, I
would be very happy for introducing and discussing about my origin country, includes its cultures
and languages with other students in..
Indonesia has many diverse cultures inside herself. There are hundreds of ethnic, local
languages, and also various traditional customs which is spread in thousands of islands.
In my opinion, by understanding the other cultures and languages, we can communicate and
understand each other which can support the people to people understanding. Im sure by sharing
and discussing, these can help us to broaden our perspective and knowledge. The more
experience we will have, the more knowledge we will gain. By gaining more knowledge, we can
increase our chance to create a better understanding about others.
With those explanations above, I am sure that I am the suitable candidate for the..
program. I hope it can be helpful for the admission committee to consider my application. I am
really excited and highly motivated to be the part., Germany.

I want to study Medicine because it has a core importance in todays most emergent field
of. Medicine is becoming a defining.
In addition to that, it plays a vital role in the advancement of todays Research & Development
sector by introducing the concepts of

My favourite areas of interest in medicine are Obstetrics and Gynecology. In Obstetrics and
Gynecology fields are quite attractive for me. I am highly motivated to play an active role in the
advancement of Obstetrics and Gynecology field in our country and putting my country into new
era equipped with most modern Computer Science methods, tools and techniques. In our
country, numbers of IT companies are in their infancy and will be a very good source for
implementation of my knowledge & skills after the completion of my Master/PhD degree.

Studying in Europe will also help to fulfill my personal career ambitions as I wish to work
internationally to improve my language capabilities and my career prospects as will
continue to be strongly influenced by world hospital institution. I wish to study the course in the
Edinburgh because Edinburgh educational degrees have a good reputation worldwide. In World
Medical Forum 2004, the Network Readiness Index Rank (NRIR) of Finland in Global IT
Competitiveness is 3 among 102 countries. This fact clearly states Edinburgh as an medical
nation and also acts as a strong argument for me to study there. And finally for me its been a
wonderful experience to meet new people and to know about there cultural diversity.

With regard to my personal lifestyle and interests I moved to the Capital from a provincial (rural)
area to improve my work opportunities but now have also discovered that I enjoy the dynamics
of city life. The city provides me with opportunities to pursue my interests in live music, games
and reading as there are so many bookshops and libraries. I hope that you will give my application
serious consideration and would be pleased to provide you any further information about
myself.

Medicine personal statement

The complex structure of the human body is a unique beauty. However, when witnessing my
uncle deteriorating due to cancer it showed that complexity inescapably meant that problems
arise. I realised the effects such illness can have on the patient and their families and appreciate
how fulfilling being a doctor would be in such circumstances.

I have experienced first-hand how diverse a doctors job can be; not just prescribing drugs or
performing surgery but also empathy and compassion being key to delivering an effective care.
This fact was highlighted during a period of shadowing a Professorial unit at a Department of
Psychiatry. Here, I realised the importance of treating patients in a holistic manner; doctors need
to be skilful enough to deal with the health implications of both physical and psychological
complaints. I was able to observe doctors communicating in difficult situations such as witnessing
the emotional despair of a patient suffering from profound depression, where key skills such as
empathy, patience and compassion are essential to enhance the doctor-patient relationship.
Having observed clinical multidisciplinary team meetings, I am able to appreciate the input various
teams have in providing effective care and ensuring a better outcome overall for the patient and
their families.
Having worked in a care home, I was able to work closely with elderly patients. This made me
aware of their specific healthcare needs and challenges in relation to their care. Healthcare needs
are influenced by various other factors including gender, ethnicity and social class. Doctors need
to demonstrate the capability of recognising these specific healthcare needs and addressing them
appropriately. Many patients were in a poor state of health and usually in terminal phases of their
illness. This environment exemplified how healthcare staffs are often faced with emotionally
stressing situations. My experience of shadowing a GP and the attached community staff
exemplified how modern primary care in partnership with secondary care is central to an effective
NHS.
Furthermore, I understand the research aspect of medicine providing an evidence base for
modern medicine as well as the need for clinicians to undertake lifelong learning for the benefit of
their patients.

Having attended a medical summer school, I had the opportunity to speak to medical
professionals and students; Speaking to them made me aware of the challenges associated with
a career as a doctor such as the proactive balance between work with long hour shifts with social
and family life.

I have completed my Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards, which enabled me to develop
my interpersonal and speaking skills whilst teaching a range of children with different abilities. I
am the founder member of my schools debating club from which I have learnt methods of critical
thinking and respectful discourse which may benefit my career in multidisciplinary meetings and
case conferences. Within my role as a science prefect, I have been proactively involved in
organising open days. Being chair of Doncaster Interfaith has enabled me to discuss and develop
my views on ethical and moral issues. Involving me delivering lectures to the public, furthering my
skills in public speaking and leadership. I have started the Crest award to independently explore
science alongside my A levels. Biology and chemistry allowed me to develop analytical skills and
Physics and Maths have developed my deduction skills in following logical processes to infer
results. I love reading as a hobby to increase my knowledge and as entertainment.

The medical world is full of intellectual, ethical, physical and emotional challenges which doctors
face on a daily basis, but yet this creates a dynamic profession which is one of the most rewarding.
My aspiration for excellence and to succeed within the medical profession will no doubt help make
a difference to the lives of the future.

I have visualized in attaining my final goal in the following steps which I have enumerated below.
I did my bachelor in Medicine field in University of Jenderal Achmad Yani, one of the oldest
universities in Indonesia. Academically I was comfortably placed among the top ten percentile of
my class. This did not hindered me from actively contributing on extra curricular activities
organized by our educational institution which compliments my extrovert personality. I actively got
involved in the Research and Learning Unit. I also regularly got involved with activities in the
science clubs such as RLU, English Debate Club, as well as in my departments group band as
a pianist/keyboardist.

[Pengalaman Magang]
I did my internship as clinical research assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology field at Dr. Cipto
Mangunkusumo which is one of the biggest hospital in Indonesia, from October 2015 until
February 2016. In RSCM, my research task was to improve and to develop the future concept of
collaborative engineering manufacturing department in [Nama Perusahaan]. Officially the
research was named: Framework Development for Collaborating Engineering/Design
Department and Manufacturing Department. My task closely related to issues of how to improve
the management system of the designers including the product data (i.e. drawings); the
management of those data as released from engineering department to the remaining production
processes. The main aim was actually to speed up time-to-market with a high level of product
quality as well as sophisticated product data and product knowledge management system.

[Pengalaman Tugas Akhir]

When stepping forward to the next phase after completing my internship, I found that I have such
a tremendous broad possibility for my thesis project. My bachelors program gave me a lot of
opportunity in different mechanical fields like: product design, manufacturing technology, logistic,
supply chain management, production management, automation in industry, quality control
systems, and even in the field of marketing. As my thesis project, I was working in Virtual
Prototyping area which is dedicated to the Virtual Reality Laboratory in [Nama Universitas]. In
specific, I was working with several application softwares (i.e. Solidworks, 3DStudioMax, Lumo,
Visual C++). I was the part of UT virtual reality software development team. My research task was
to assess the performance of existing VR system, especially the haptic system and to modify the
programming script for further development.
However, bigger opportunity to continue my study and some other activities of being a lecturer
also strongly encouraged me to decide choosing this vocation.
This decision laid the seed for my future and prompted me to take up my master program in the
near future.

[Atau, untuk proposal S3]

With regard to my vision and dream of clinician and researching, my next concrete goal is to
obtain PhD position in the near future.
Concerning to what I have been accomplishing during my study in [Nama universitas], and further
to subjects and researches that I currently conduct, indeed, I would say that my main interest is
about[Nama topik riset] area.
Due to this reason, I indeed would like to apply position in your university. In addition, I am open
to improve my knowledge if necessary. And I would like to work in groups.

To Whom It May Concern,

Im writing this letter to show my desire to apply for the Postgraduate Certificate in Geothermal
Energy Technology (PGCertGeothermTech) and Master of Energy (MEnergy) programs. In this
letter I would like to present my general background and my reasons for choosing this programme.

My name is Pandu Wicaksono, and I was recently graduated from Institut Teknologi Bandung,
Indonesia. My undergraduate major is Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering, and my thesis
research topic is Development Study of Landslide Hazard Monitoring System Using Geodetic
Methods for Geothermal Power Plant Area. There are specific reasons why I choose that
research topic, which is related with my plan of continuing my study to Master degree.

Indonesia is known as part of the worlds Ring of Fire, because it is crossed by a line of volcanoes
lining across the country. While it brings a potential threat of disaster, it also has a magnificent
potential of renewable energy known as geothermal. The utilizations of geothermal energy can
be used as a solution to fulfill the need of electrical energy supply that keeps increasing from time
to time in Indonesia. With the development of new technology, geothermal energy also can be
used to provide fresh water by desalinating salt water that is taken from sea. Another interesting
fact from geothermal is that it is considered as an environmental friendly energy, widely known
as green energy, which needs to be developed more and more to reduce the threat of global
warming by the emission of a greenhouse gases.

As mentioned earlier, Indonesia has a great potential of geothermal energy. Unfortunately, we

have only exploit about 3% from the total amount of potential up to 27 Giga Watt equivalent, and
97% usage of the exploited energy are concentrated in Java Island. Furthermore, Indonesia has
252 potential geothermal areas spread across the country and most of the exploited areas are
managed by foreign companies. It strengthens the fact that Indonesia faces the inequality of
development in most of its parts and lacks of capability of handling its own resources. Indonesia
needs a lot of experts with a great sense of nationalism and a great plan of its geothermal
resources future development to be able to independently develop its own potentials.

In order to be able to actively contribute in the process, I decided to develop myself to be an

expert in geothermal. Therefore, the first step I have taken to enrich my knowledge of geothermal
is by taking an undergraduate thesis topic that is directly related with the geothermal industry.
The next step I will take is by continuing my study at PGCertGeothermTech and MEnergy program
in University of Auckland (UOA), which has been acknowledged as a great place to learn about
geothermal.

I am sure that UOA is the best place for me to continue my study. I have discussed with many
geothermal experts in Indonesia, and most of them recommend me to enroll to this program. I
have also read the description of the programs, attending many educations fair where UOA was
participated, to make sure that I have chosen the best choice. In the end, I believe that the course
offered in the programs are simply the ones that meet my area of interest in geothermal.

I realize that by studying in UOA means that I have to leave my country for a while as an
international student. For me, meeting a new friend, a new culture, a new way of study is a great
opportunity to be able to develop myself. It will be a great, once in a lifetime experience, that will
help me to become a better person. When I finished my study, I will use every knowledge I have
learned and every effort I could do to help Indonesia to develop and maximize its resource
potentials. This is a promise to my beloved country, Indonesia.

My motivation to attend this summer school program is to seek the experience of studying
medicine in the European style (University of Groningen the Netherlands) and to open wider
horizons of medical sciences, particularly in the field of pediatrics from the way it handles the case
untill its treatment. This will be very useful for me, mainly to serve as the new reference for the
development of medical science that I have got in Indonesia that would be very different from
what I get when following this summer school program in the Netherlands.

I also want to know more about how the learning system which will be given at this summer school
program. It is like I get from an experience of discovery in the cases of pediatrics area who would
have been different with the invention cases that usually found in Indonesia as a tropical country
in terms of epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, treatment, until its prevention. I also wanted
to deepen my practical knowledge in the use of medical devices to find out what kind of
sophistication of the use of medical devices available and commonly used in Europe. I will
contribute to the maximal in the summer school program by following all of the variety of events
and the study tour. Because I would not waste the opportunity that I get to study in the
Netherlands.

On the other hand, by following the summer school program at University of Groningen in
Netrherlands, it will make a very valuable experience for me because for the first time that I can
go to Europe, especially with a view to expanding my knowledge of professionalism as a medical
student to become a doctor someday. A tremendous pride for me is to be able to serve as basic
reference materials for me to be ready to go international doctor in the future.

In addition, the most valuable thing when following the summer school program is to further
expand my relationship with fellow medical students from various countries. I want to know the
culture from each medical students from various countries from their personality, especially in
everyday life as a medical student. I want to get through sharing of their medical learning methods
such as what and how to handle a variety of illnesses like. It will become a capital good for me
whether I could have medical students are not only limited in Indonesia, but also has many links
in other countries than in Indonesia. This is useful as a reference to further enrich my knowledge
to become a doctor someday.

These activities will certainly be very useful for meto attend. First of all, I want to make both
parents and my family proud of the achievements that I have gained by being able to follow the
summer school program which must be obtained through selection. Moreover, I want to make my
college is also proud of the students who can follow the summer school program, so it can be
used as reference in the future so that every medical student at my college to go back to have a
strong will and motivation to study medicine in Europe later.

Subject: Motivation Letter

With this letter I hereby wish to state my interest and apply for Master of Science degree
program in Epidemiology. I always had an interest and passion for Medicine, and therefore it is
not surprising that I have finished my Bachelor studies in the field of medicine in just five years
instead of six.

I have developed this strong passion towards Epidemiology thanks to my father who is a
Epidemiologist, working in the MoH in the Statistics Department. Thanks to him and his
scientific work, I became keen to learn more about this field. Therefore I have enrolled into and
completed in 2015 my Bachelor studies of Public Health at the [UNIVERSITY NAME]. While
attending college, I focused primarily on biostatistics and the use of biostatistics to evaluate
health impacts. During my studies I finished a capstone project analyzing time to event data in
approximately 1000 patients at four single nucleotide polymorphisms of interest for potential
development of a heart condition. I have also designed many of the research frameworks and
analysis methods, based on the prominent research I had on my disposal. In processing data I
have used MATLAB in cooperation with other college fellows.

Theoughr my life I have often been involved in volunteering, in order to gain experience, but
also to give my personal contribution to the community. Before attending college, I volunteered
at St. Agnes Nursing Center where I have been supporting the elderly in eating, playing games,
and talking to them. While attending college, I have volunteered in Kenya, where I worked and
observed the children with Ebola.

Through Master program offered by Your University I tend to develop skills and competences in
the Epidemiology, through full understanding of risk factors for the diseases, and its impact on
population. Moreover, since my IT skills are not so strong at the moment I hope to develop
stronger computer skills for data processing in using software such SAS, MATLAB and SPSS.
Last, but not least I perceive this as an opportunity to get the insight in the Epidemiology
medical practice in one of the best hospitals in the country, in this field.

I am applying after carefully reviewing the course curriculum. Since the research focus and
facilities available in your department complement my research interests and requirements, I
believe that being a student in your department would not only empower my career
development, but would give me the framework my utilize my full potentials. Moreover I feel that
as a Masters student at your University, I can benefit from the numerous challenging career
opportunities.

Sincerely,
Name and Surname of the Applicant

Motivational letter template for an internship

Respected Sir/Madam,

I, (Your Name), currently in my first year at (XYZ) University, would like to apply for a 6 month
internship for a post in the <name of department> department of your company.

I am currently pursuing my Masters in <Name of degree> and at our University, we understand

the importance of gaining practical knowledge which will complement the textbook knowledge
and help a student gain a wider perspective of the subjects.

During the <name of the course> course I have found that I am decently skilled in the art of
persuasion, as my teachers and my former employer of 5 years will rightly testify. Ive had a
knack of getting my point across very well, communicating with people, understanding their
needs and providing them with a value proposition which is truly hard to refuse. My skills lie in
my ability to comprehensively read and understand the situation and act quickly and yet smartly.

But of what use is a raw skill, unless it is sharpened? Therefore, I decided to enroll myself in the
prestigious <NAME> University to help me understand more about the subject I truly adore, to
help me understand the mind of the consumer better and to learn some soft skills which have
proven to be effective over many years.

Laden with textbook knowledge, I wish to implement the skills that I have learned, in the real
world. What better way to prove that I have truly been benefited by this education, and what
better place to start, than a company as reputed as yours?

So an internship with you, is something I look forward to very keenly.

I have enclosed my resume and cover letter as well.

Thanking You,

Dear Mr. Jones,

I recently learned about the Lab Assistant Summer Internship at ABCD Biotech through the
AJGJKG Newspaper. I would like to be considered for this position. I have had opportunity to
speak with Ms. Carson in the Research and Development Department about the internship at
your companys goals in the future. With the lab experience and analytical skills you are
seeking, I would be a strong candidate for the position of the Intern at your company.

I am aware that your company discovers, manufactures, and markets leading prescriptions
medicines for human and provides related health care services to the people who need them.
With your goal of finding sustainable solutions to the health care challenges of our changing
world, I feel that my problem solving skills coupled with my demonstrated lab experience will
enable me to help achieve your goals.

As you can see from my Resume, I have a strong knowledge of lab techniques including
electrophoresis and media preparation, as well as the ability to follow detailed instructions and
protocols. In addition, I have experience working in a health-related environment with the
American Heart Association which has helped me develop communication and leadership skills.

I would like to set up an appointment to talk further with you about how my skills and experience
could benefit ABCD Biotech. I will contact you in about a week to see about this possibility.
Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

Ms. Josephine Alon, Director
White Mountain Academy
162 Mountain Street
White Brook, NH 03577
Dear Ms. Alon:
I am writing to apply for the clinician position posted on the White Mountain Academy website. I
will be earning my MSW this August from the Smith College School for Social Work and would
bring to this opportunity strong clinical skills working with at
-
risk youth in therapeutic schools and
experience in environmental education and leadership training.
During my clinical placement at the Serramonte Therapeutic Day School, I provided individual
and group therapy to a culturally diverse adolescent population similar to yours at WMA,
experience that built on my prior role as a program and dorm supervisor at the Academy at Swift
River, a therapeutic boarding school. What I find most interesting about this age group is how
their self
-
esteem and growth are affected by their success in school, activities, and relationships
as they attempt to find their place in the world. Developing individual treatment plans for
adolescents at Serramonte drew on my flexibility, imagination, and ability to establish and
maintain rapport, skills I would be excited to bring to WMA.
Im particularly attracted to White Mountains structured, safe, and nurturing residential
environment and comprehensive approach to the therapeutic, academic, social, and physical
needs of
each student. Ive found that the small community size stressed by your board member
Malcolm Gladwell fosters more meaningful relationships, helping students lead lives of curiosity,
courage, compassion, and develop friendships that may last a lifetime.
WMAs unique outdoor offerings and leadership training further appeal to me. My experience at
Swift River initiating an outdoor leadership program for at
-
risk teens would, I believe, support my
clinical work with your students and contribute to your leadership programming. Ive seen
firsthand the value of such programs in developing students self
-
esteem, academic performance,
and long
-
term commitment to their physical and emotional wellbeing.
I look forward to discussing my interest in this position, and I will call shortly to see about
arranging a meeting. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Philip Lakey
