any point on XY other than A.Is OB < 5 cms? Justify your answer.

4)Four cubes each of side 5 cms are joined end to end. Find the T.S.A. of

the new cuboid formed.

SECTION B (6x2=12)

that angle BAC = 30 0. Tangent CD is drawn at C to the circle to intersect

AB produced at D. Show that BC = BD.

6)From a point on the ground at a distance of 300 m from the foot of a

vertical tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 30 0. Find

the height of the tower.

7)A box has 10 sheets in which first 10 natural numbers are written one

number in each sheet. One sheet is chosen at random from the box. Find

Page 1
the probability that number written there is (i) a prime number(ii) a
composite number.

8)Find the point on x axis equidistant from (4,6),(2,8).

9)Find the area of a sector of a circle whose radius is 21 cms and length of

the corresponding arc is 22 cms.

10) A metallic sphere of total volume 108 cc is melted and recast into

the shape of a right circular cylinder of base radius 7 cms. Find the height

of the cylinder.

SECTION C (10x3=30)

11)Find the condition for the roots of the equation ax 2 + b x + c = 0 to be in

the ratio 7:8.

12)In an A.P., t 3 = 14 and t 7 = 34, find S 10.

13)Construct ABC with measurement AB = 5 cms angle ABC = 60 0,

BC = 6 cms. Draw ABC ~ ABC such that the corresponding sides are in

the ratio 5:6.

14)In the drawn diagram, O is the centre of the circle. OP is equal to

the diameter. PA,PB are tangent segments drawn from P to the circle.

Prove that ABP is an equilateral triangle.

15)If from a point 200 m above the ground, the angles of the depression of

two objects due south on the ground are 30 0 and 45 0, find the
Page 2
distance between the objects.

16)An observer 150 cms tall is 38.5m away from a chimney. The angle

of elevation of the top of the chimney from his eyes is 45 0. Find the height

of the chimney.

17)Two unbiased dice are thrown. Find the probability of (i) getting a

prime number in the first die and sum of the numbers to be 8

(ii)a doublet iii)product of the numbers to be 8.

18)A box has 40 sheets numbered from 1 to 40. One sheet is chosen at

random. Find the probability that the number written over there is

(i)not a multiple of 3 (ii)a number which is divisible by 4 or 3.

19)Find the number of plates 1.5 cms in diameter and 0.2 cms thickness that

can be placed completely inside a right circular cylinder of height 10 cms

and diameter 4.5 cms.

20)In the diagram, O is the centre of the circle and radius of the circle is

SECTION D (11x4=44)

21)Rs.6,000/- were divided equally among a certain number of persons.

23)Solve for x : (3/(x+2)) + (2/(x+3)) = (3/2) (x -2,-3)

24)A sum of Rs.2000/- is to be used for five prizes for the academic

performance of the students. Each prize is Rs.100/- more than the

previous prize. Find the amount of each prize using concept of A.P.,

25)Prove that the lengths of the tangents drawn from an external point to
a circle are equal. Hence, prove that parallelogram becomes a rhombus if

a circle circumscribes it.
