Reflection
What I learned about teaching/learning:
From this experience I learned the significance of receiving applicable classes to allow for
one to be properly prepared with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and strategies
necessary to successfully teach in the special education field. The students that I service
would be greatly impacted had I not been prepared appropriately. For example, by taking
Assessing Children with Disabilities, I was provided with the knowledge necessary to give
administer assessments. This directly pertained to my teaching experience as I as required
to administer assessments as apart of student evaluations. Had I not taken this course, I
would not have been appropriately prepared to administer assessments.
What I learned about myself as a prospective educator:
I have learned that my effectiveness as a teacher is grounded heavily in the strategies,
skills, and content knowledge I gained as apart of my cross categorical certification course
work. In order to continue meeting student needs in the future, I intend to continue to seek
out other professional development and learning opportunities to allow me to grow in my
skills and abilities in order to be the most effective educator I can be.
