Lesson Plan (Direct Instruction)

Standard:
 S2C1:PO1: Construct charts, graphs, and narratives using historical data.
Objective (Explicit):
 Students will formulate ideas for a personal narrative using historical and cultural information
regarding how Dia de los Muertos and the Seven Generations celebrate life and death.
Sub-objectives, SWBAT (Sequenced from basic to complex):
 Read a brief synopses about Dia de los Muertos and the Seven Generations
 Compare the two traditions
 Select a tradition to research further
 Assess how the tradition is similar or different to their culture
 Modify and integrate the tradition to help the student with grief and paying respects to those who
have passed
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable, include variety of methods of checking for understanding):
 Students will submit a summary of the tradition they selected with 83% accuracy.
