a. Ask the pupils: If you have two 5 peso coins and I have 10 peso coin, would you
like to exchange them with my money? Why?
2. Group Activities
Activity 1
Using the pocket chart or show cards, show different denominations to the class and
have them write the correct symbol.
Activity 2
Game: Bring Me
Example: 20 peso bill and 10 peso coin
Divide the class into four groups. Give each group play money and different coins. Ask
the pupils to bring bills and coins with the same value as the amount called for. The
first group who can give the correct set of bills and coins gets a point.
The group that gets the most points wins.
- Bring me an amount greater than P5 but less than P8.
- Bring me an amount equal to P30.
- Bring me an amount less than P68 but greater than P65.
Valuing: Talk about how to take care of the coins and paper bills.
- Ask: Have you seen coins, which are flattened and paper bills which are torn?
Which have drawings and writings? Should we do these things to our money?
Why?
(We must use our money carefully. We must take care of them so that they will
last long. We must respect our money because we use them for buying food and
things.)
