Football Announces 2018 Signing Class

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati football head coach Luke Fickell announced the Bearcats 2018 signing class Thursday, during the NCAA’s inaugural early signing period for football.

The Bearcats added 22 student-athletes to the fold, with 14 hailing from Ohio and eight from the Tri-State area. It is UC’s highest-rated recruiting class, sitting No. 46 in 247Sports’ composite rankings and No. 47 in the Rivals.
com rankings.

UC’s haul included three of the Top-20 players in Ohio, TE Josh Whyle (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle), DL Malik Vann (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) and WR Meechi Harris (Xenia, Ohio/Xenia) and seven of the Top-50 players in the state of
Ohio, CB Arquon Bush (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid), DL Daeshon Martin (Akron, Ohio/Hoban), RB Ryan Mongtomery (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) and LB Ty Van Fossen (Columbus, Ohio/De Sales)

The class includes 13 offensive and nine defensive players. There are four defensive linemen, four wide receivers, three running backs, two cornerbacks, two offensive linemen, two safeties, two tight ends, an athlete, linebacker
and quarterback.

Offensive lineman Colin Woodside (Lancaster, Ohio/Fairfield Union) is a second-generation Bearcat as his father, Ray, was a four-year letterwinner at UC (1990-93) who earned All-Independent FB Alliance honors at offensive
guard in 1993.

Coach Fickell and his staff reached across the ocean to snag defensive lineman Lorenz Metz from Kirchdorf am Inn, Germany in Bavaria. The 6-9, 276 pound recruit is an under-the-radar prospect with some huge upside.
