posting summer and part-time job opportunities
(both on and off campus) and graduate job

is frequently a competitive process and it is ultimately the students’ responsibility. The
Career Services department can offer guidance through individual appointments and
preparation sessions. There are also resources such as job postings, to assist students
in seeking a Co-op.
Niagara College follows the criteria of CAFCE (Canadian Association for Co-operative
Education). CAFCE information can be found at www.cafce.ca
This approach to education relies upon a three-way partnership: the student, the
institution and the employer. Success depends upon the co-operative efforts of each
party.

As soon as you have secured work and prior to starting your position, you must supply
information on the employer and your job by submitting an I’ve Been Hired form to ensure
your Co-op employment is documented and approved.
Your Co-op Career Consultant will review the I’ve Been Hired information and determine
whether the position is suitable for a Co-op work term in your program of study. You will
receive an email once your I’ve Been Hired has been reviewed.
Note: Co-op jobs posted to your program by the Co-operative Education Office have
already been approved as a suitable Co-op position, however the I’ve Been Hired form
must still be submitted prior to starting work. Any job opportunity found by students
through their own job search must be reviewed for relevancy and approved by your Co-
op Career Consultant prior to starting work.
Enter information into ALL FIELDS of Job Description #1, Scroll down and click on
Submit I’ve Been Hired at the bottom of the screen. Job Description #2 and #3 are to be
used for students with multiple Co-op work terms or jobs.

and PRIOR to starting work. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation email from
your Co-op Career Consultant. Review your email carefully as it has important dates and
reminders regarding completion of your work term.
Your employer will receive an email from the Employer Relations Consultant. The email
will contain details of your I’ve Been Hired and additional information about the Co-op
process, along with a copy of the Employer Evaluation. It is essential that all information
entered into your I’ve Been Hired is accurate.
A Work Term Record will be created in MyCareer. Please allow a minimum of 5 business
days from the date of your confirmation email. During busier times of the year, additional
time may be needed for your Work Term Record to be created.

experience, for each Co-op work term(s). It must be 3-5 pages in length,
excluding the cover page, table of contents and pictures.
A brief overview of the company and description of the products/services it offers.
Provide an explanation of your major duties and activities, mention in detail any
specific projects that you worked on.
Offer feedback that is pertinent to the work experience, and would be beneficial
information for your Co-op Consultant to be aware of. This will be helpful
information for the future.

you met these objectives, what additional knowledge and skills you believe you
acquired, and how this Co-op job has influenced your career goals.
To access the Work Term Report page, click on the Work Term Record, Work Term
