Guidelines and Mechanics for Sociocultural Events

CHEER DANCE

1. DEFINITION

Cheer dance - is a combination of tight, precise and motions of cheerleading,


cheerleading jumps, the funky style of hip-hop and the technical aspects of
jazz and pop performed on a designated area.

2. RULES, REGULATION AND GUIDELINES

The set of rules and guidelines provided hereunder shall define, limit, restrict, and
provide for all of the acts, procedures, decisions and other endeavors undertaken by
the cheer dance committee, the judges, the participants and other parties directly
involved in the said competition. In addition to the definition, limitation, restriction
and provision made by these rules and guidelines on the actions of the parties
directly involved, it shall control the influence of the execution, flow, hosting and
overall conduct of the said competition.

a. Each cheer dance squad shall be composed of at least twenty (20) and not more
the forty (40) cheer dancers. This shall include spotters, musicians and props
men.
b. Each cheer dancing squad shall be identified by their designated year level
colors. (Freshmen-Green, Sophomores-red, Juniors-Blue and Seniors-Yellow)
c. The attire of the each group must be decent. Skirts are limited up to one and half
(1 ½) inches above the knee and shirts must be properly worn.

3. THE COMPETITION

a. The performance time is limited to a maximum of seven (7) minutes and a


minimum of five (5) minutes including entrance and exit. Any excess will
result to point-deduction of 1 point from the final score for every minute
after the ceiling time.
b. Dancers are allowed to use gymnastic routines, jazz and hip-hop dance
movements in their presentation. The following are the allowed gymnastic
routines/stunts:
1. Split
2. Egg roll
3. Human Ball
4. Skin the Snake
5. Cartwheel
6. Forward and backward roll

c. Recorded music, CD or live musical instruments are allowed.


d. Human Pyramid must be up to first level only. This includes:
1. A member who steps on the legs of another who is bending
his/her knees.
2. A member who sits on the shoulder of another.
3. A member stands on both hands of another whose hands rise NOT
higher than chest level.
4. A member stands at the back of another member at a crawling
position.
5. A member sits on one hand of another member.

e. A member who will do the stunts, tumbling and pyramid MUST be supported
by 2-3 spotters.

4. THE CRITERIA

Over-All Impact (Choreography, Timing and Coordination) 35%


Cheers and Yells 25%
Costume and Props 25%
Showmanship, Expression and Creativity 15%

5. Other Prohibitions:

The following are STRICTLY prohibited for the cheer dance competition:
1. The use of live animals
2. The use of any fireworks and pyrotechnics or incendiary materials.
3. Sabotage
4. Resorting to mid-air pendulum, cartwheel (with hands not on the floor) or
free fall and tossing.
5. Mounting and dismounting above shoulder level.

6. REQUIREMENTS

1. Submit a CD or Soft Copy of the music to be utilized by the group on or before


September 8, 2017 to any Lex Circle officer.
2. Submit a copy of the list of the official members/dancers of the cheering
squad on the date mentioned above.

MISTER AND MISS SPORTS FEST 2017

1. The competing year levels must send one (1) pair of candidates, (1) male and one
(1) female to wear a Sports (Production) attire.
2. Each candidate will pick from a bowl of topics. He or she will be given 30 seconds to
prepare his answer and one minute to discuss or express her
view/stand/understanding on the topic she picked.
3. Candidates must be present at the venue thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled
start of the activity.
4. Candidates must not wear very provocative attire, such as those the reveal the
breasts, butts, very skimpy skirt, see-through attire, very tight-fitting attire and any
other attire that is not in accordance with the Paulinian standards of decency. Skirts
must not exceed two 92) inches above the knee. The committee reserves the right to
disqualify a candidate who will not adhere to the rules agree upon prior to the
competition.
5. Judging shall be based on the following criteria:

Beauty 20%
(Wholesome and appealing looks, figure, physical fitness)
Poise 30%
(Self-confidence, composure, stage presence, projection)
Personality 50%
(wit and intelligence, Communication Skills, Grace under Pressure)
Total 100%

TEAM BANNER COMPETITION
1. Definition
a. The Team Banner is a 6 X 8 ft tarpaulin designed by the competing class which will serve
as their official banner.
2. Design
a. The Team banner must be 6 ft in width and 8 ft in length. Deviation from the prescribed
size specification will result to a 10 point deduction in team’s final score for the Team
Banner Competition.
b. The design must be original, creative and must represent the team’s identity and
collective attributes.
c. The design must include the official batch name and wear each team’s official color (1st
year = green, 2nd year = red, 3rd year = blue, 4th year = yellow).
d. Lewd, offensive, radical and derogatory pictures, design and terms are strictly
prohibited. The violation of this rule will automatically disqualify the team from this
contest.
e. Deadline of the posting of each banner is on September 2, 2017, 3:00 PM. Failure to
post this banner on the specified date will result to a 20 point deduction.

Concept - 40%
Creativity - 40%
Appeal - 20%

1st place - 400 points
2nd place - 300 points
3rd place - 200 points
4th place - 100 points
TEAM UNIFORM COMPETITION
1. Definition
a. A uniform refers to the T-Shirt/Polo Shirt/Jersey/Jacket that a batch registers as their
official team uniform during the Law Days 2017. In any activity which prescribes that a
member/s should wear their official team uniform, this will pertain to the one the team
has registered as such.
2. Design
a. The design should be original, must contain the name/logo of each batch and must don
the official team color of each competing team 1st year = green, 2nd year = red, 3rd year =
blue, 4th year = yellow).
b. Printing of lewd, offensive, radical and derogatory pictures, design and terms on the
official team uniform is strictly prohibited. The violation of this rule will automatically
disqualify the team from this contest.
a. Deadline of registering each team uniform is on September 9, 2017, 10:00 AM. Failure
to register the team t-shirt on the specified date will result to a 20 point deduction on
their overall score for this contest.
