Palmview is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas. The population was
5,460 at the 2010 United States Census. It is part of the McAllen–
Palmview, Texas
Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. City

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total
area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km2), all land.

Demographics
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,107 people, 1,093
households, and 977 families residing in the city. The population
density was 1,712.5 people per square mile (660.7/km²). There
were 1,671 housing units at an average density of 696.7 per square

Palmview is served by the La Joya Independent School District. Palmview High School is
one of the two new high schools in the district built to accommodate the large student
population residing in the area. It is located on the boundary between Palmview and
Mission, Texas.

In addition, South Texas Independent School District and IDEA Public Schools (Charter) operates magnet schools that serve the
community.
