I am really excited glad and happy to speak and write to you.

Story of Life

I am Khurram Masood, and proudly write that I am son of an educationist retired primary school teacher
of a small village away from city life. I started my education from the very same school with no room
and electricity sitting on bare muddy ground. I studied up to 5th grade there and topped the whole
District. I moved to higher school 10 Km away from my home and travelled 20 Km daily on my Bicycle for
5 years and passed my matriculation being topper from 6th to 10th grade. I done my Pre-Engineering
from a well renowned college being topper.

My grandfather was a mechanic in British Army before Indo-Pak partition and after listening his stories
of life being mechanic, I found craze of Mechanical Engineering. I passed my BSc in Industrial and
Manufacturing Engineering in 2011 from the best university of Pakistan. I started my part time
professional career as detailer and draftsman very early in 2005 during my study in engineering
university due to severe financial problems and to support my four siblings who were all excellent in
academic. From those four siblings, one of my brother is serving Wales UK as a Doctor. My studies do
suffered due to this heavy work load.

I got my first job as trainee static equipment design engineer in 2007. After my graduation in 2011, I was
taken by the largest EPC Company of Pakistan Descon Engineering as Mechanical Design /Stress
Engineer. Now I am working as Lead Mechanical Design/Stress Engineer for Power Boilers.

Technical Expertise

Hand on 9 years’ experience of applicable research and development of industry related issues,
materials, fabrication and stress engineering of large power boilers and process equipment. Expert in
solving research and development, Stress Engineering and materials related industry problems using
Ansys, Autpipe and Staad Pro V8i. Practical experience of interpretation and dealing with ASME and EU
Codes for design of thin and thick pressure vessels by formula and by analysis.

Why do I want to Masters?

In most of my professional career, I have worked for power and industry boilers with high temperature
and pressures so I have natural swing and taste for stress engineering, creep, fatigue and fracture,
structural integrity, advanced materials sciences for power and nuclear boilers. Now my passion is to do
research and development in design and fabrication of subcritical, supercritical and especially nuclear
boilers and components.

Why do I need Scholarship?

Due to my financial situation I was not able to continue my studies since I am not in a position to finance
my studies in UK. I have a wife and two children to support but on the other hand, I have my dreams to
fulfill. I am of the view that “When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help
that person to realize his dream.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Therefore, I will be very grateful to be provided with scholarship to improve my education and incent
my career prospects. Knowledge gained on the studies at your University I see as an extraordinary
career opportunity, and therefore I would be very glad if you could support my education with
scholarship and to further inform me about any scholarship opportunity that may appear.

At the end I would like to point out that I am determined to make the most of this opportunity. I believe
that being a student in your department would not only empower my career development, but would
give me the framework to utilize my full potentials.
