Dear Admission Staff The University of Essex,

With this letter, I am appllying for a place in the Master of Data Science, available at The
RMIT University. At the present, I am running a Growth Hacking company, focusing on
providing analytical services to help small medium enterprise in Indonesia to grow their
business. With my current experience, I wish to expand my technical knowledge of Data Science
and turn my focus towards their wide-scale applications in Data Science Practitioner. By
studying the course curriculum available online, I have found that the subject material will
cover best suit for my future goals.

I have been in the programming and web development for over 6 years and for the last
4 years I have specialized, exclusively, in Search Engineering Optimization (SEO). In this field, I
combined my programming, data analytical, and research skills to analyse and apply the best
way in improving website traffic. Currently I am running a small business, namely Bigro, which
provides services and tools to help a number of businesses to grow their business. We do a
research on what the most searched by the user in the search enginee according to the
category of the website using keyword planner tool such as Google Keyword Planner and
Similar Web. After collecting the data, we analyze the keyword and the user behavior to decide
and apply the best model to increase the search signal ranking. Furthermore, we use our
analytical tool and Google Webmaster Tool to track the increase position and performance and
make the report.

I have had my first professional career by working in the biggest online media in
Indonesia, called detik.com, as a front end programmer and SEO in year 2015. As part of my list
job, I developed and maintenanced the website of detik.com. Beside that, I also analyzed the
user behavior in terms to improve its ranking in search engineering, which is almost 50% as the
source referral from the traffic share. As a result, the website ranking in the internet increased
signifincanly from position 10 to position 5 most visited website in Indonesia and it claimed that
detik.com is the most accessed Indonesian website with about 2 million unique visitors
everyday. During this role, I have many experiences in understanding data.

I graduated with a Bachelor Applied of Science with majors Computer and Network
Engineering from Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. During my
degree, I was very active in many aspect of university life. In semester 4, me and 3 friends were
chosen as one team that awarded in Program Mahasiswa Wirausaha (entrepreneurship
program). We were funded by the Higher Education, Research and Technology Directorate in
Indonesia called DIKTI to run an IT company (website development service). This gave me a real
opportunity to apply my the oretical knowledge in a practical setting and also increased my
interest in Data Research and Business. I was a project manager. One of our successful product
is the Online Registration of State Polytechic of Ujung Pandang. We assisted the university
reaching their peak in the number of registrant from around 500 to over 2000. The benefits
that I got from this program are that I can train my leadership skills, business skills and public
speaking.

It is well-known that British higher education and qualifications as high quality and ranked
as the world class. Fruthermore, University of Essex is One of the UK's top research institutions, which
means that I will be taught by top researchers and experts in data science. Further to this the UK
Geographic location and economic power now attracks industry expert from around the world, which is
would be be the perfect base to build the next step of my professional career. In addtition, I am a big fan
of Manchester United, and British football as a whole. I learn more about British from this.

Eventually, with all the experience that I listed, I believe that I fulfil all the criteria for the
program. I am highly motivated on the Big Data and Text Analytic to support my future goal as a
Data Science Practitioner and help more entrepreneur in Indonesia growing their business.

Yours Sincerelly

With the addition of the Channel Tunnel and low cost airlines such as EasyJet and Ryan Air, Europe is easier to
access than ever. You can reach most areas of Europe from the UK within a few hours by train or direct flight. For
example, if you are studying in London or Manchester and you want a weekend away in Italy, you can fly Ryan Air
direct to Rome, Milan, Pisa, Genoa, Venice or several other cities in Italy. The direct flight would take around two
hours and cost anywhere from 30 to 100 pounds, depending on when you travel and when you book. Visit
our Getting Around section for more UK travel information.

Dear sir or madam

I am applying for this program in order to continue studying my favorite domain in a

newenvironment, with new people surrounded by a new culture. My ambition is to become a
computer science specialist. In school I've been always fond of science and mathematics. At
the moment I am a student at the Technical University of Moldova, and in several months I
will finish the second year.

Complementing my performance I want to mention that I have teamwork experience, also I

try toenhance my communication and leadership skills. I am confident and hard-working
student, alongsidewith my academic tasks I participate in various projects and
extracurricular activities. It would be awesome to continue my study in Chez Republic,
to achieve more knowledge from adifferent source. I am sure that not all of the objects in
Technical University from Prague are the same asin Technical University from Moldova. I am
sure that I will learn the same domain but from a bit differentvision and in dependence of
needs in that country. And these are the main expectations. It would be awesome to
continue my studies in Czech Republic; I expect to achieve acomprehensive knowledge from
a European university. The most attractive point is outstandingeducational system, expert
knowledge that I will gain and excellent facilities. I am sure that I will studythe same domain
but from a bit different perspective. And these are the main expectations. My student life
consists not just from studying, but also from interaction with different people,
from Moldova and other countries. It happens due to BEST . BEST is an international, non-
governmental ,non- profit organization directed on students of technology.

Currently I am on board in Local Group “BESTChisinau”, in a secretary position. My

job implies communication with other Local Groups from all around the Europe as well. This
makes me feel comfortable while interacting with people from different countries. Thus
itmakes my desire to study abroad even stronger. Due to the fact that this NGO also exists in
Prague (andother 90 cities from whole Europe) I want to see with my own eyes their
performance, not just to hear, read or suppose.

I chose Prague because it’s an architectural miracle which I haven’t visited before, but I
already have a good impression , due to my friends who were there, inclusively my brother.
He stays veryimpressed about the architecture of the city, people and culture. I am confident
of my decision and know that I will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm tothis
program. I am sure to overcome your expectations due to my academic and
communicational skillsas well as due to experience I gained from my extracurricular
activities.
My name is ___________ and I am a ninth year student at the Faculty of Information
Engineering, Tishreen University, Syria. Since I was child, I have a dream to become a
software engineer. I love Mathematics and programming and I am very good at solving
problems. Moreover, I am interested in artificial intelligence and its various applications.

Actually, after I got the baccalaureate, I went to the Faculty of Information Engineering at
Tishreen University. Unfortunately, I found that my university lacks the practical experts that
this branch of science needs. There are many theoretical materials and no enough equipment,
as there are no modern computers, and there is not a good connection between theoretical
aspects like mathematic and physic and their practical sides.

Considering the things mentioned above, I decided to complete my undergraduate study in

Germany. I would like to get my bachelor in IT from a German university. I chose Germany
because it is the home of science. In addition, the German university degrees are highly
recognized all over the world. I hope I can get a degree in IT, the thing that will enable me to
find my place in the world of research or work, wherever I go. Moreover, I have a big love to
the German culture, and learning German Language may help me to know and understand
more about the heritage of the tenth most spoken language in the world.

After I started my corresponding with universities, finally, I chose to apply to Technical

University Ilmenau, computer science program and I found that technical university Ilmenau.
It seemed to me the best choice for many reasons: firstly, because technical university
Ilmenau is between the top ten German university in computer science studying according to
the “WirtschaftsWoche” 2014 ranking. Secondly, the topics in the course of computer science
studying plan in this university are very interesting and offer an excellent knowledge, which
makes excellent engineers. Finally, I heard from many student that the interactive relation
between the professors and the students in this university is very fruitful and important for the
students; not to mention that, this makes studying there is a pleasure by itself.

In conclusion, I am sure that Studying computer science at technical university Ilmenau will
the right step on the road of my dream that is to get the master degree in computer science.

I was involved in some experience such as supervisor in the program handling food-insecure
areas in Seram Bagian Barat District, Moluccas, East Indonesia by Ministry of Rural,
Development of Disadvantaged Areas, and Transmigration and was involved in some voluntary
experiences such Green Village Klabanan (voluntary action to make a green environment based
on organic farming), as a coordinator. By taking this Master’s course I hope I can deepen my
knowledge, improve the quality of my work and continue my contribution for Indonesia.

During my degree, I was very active in many facets of university life. I completed a number of
internships around my university campus, working for small business owners. This gave me an outlet to
apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and also sparked my interest in Market Research and
Business Consulting. Further to this I remained engaged in university affairs by volunteering for the
Student Ambassador program. In this program my duties varied from taking prospective students on
tours, introducing and guiding guests of honour, and speaking to schools around Australia regarding
scholarship programs. Furthermore, I was highly committed to the development of a hitherto non-
existent University Tennis Club. Taking over the tennis committee in my first semester I had plans on
developing the club to be a self-sustaining, award-winning, and socially interactive club. Forming a
committee of tennis enthusiasts, our club achieved all of the aforementioned goals within the duration
of my degree and were awarded numerous accolades, listed in my up-to-date resume. Lastly, with all of
the responsibilities at hand, I remained vigilant with my academic performance. I was hence awarded a
Deans Honour for high academic merit and, in Industry Management, received the highest grade
amongst my peers.

I graduated with a Bachelor Applied of Science from Politeknik Negeri Ujung

they learnt in campus. Furthermore, I was Steering Committee of KARCA (Knowledge,
Sharing and Community Gathering). I have responsibility to guide new students and open

their mind about what happen in other university around the world. The last event with
KARCA that I attended was touring around National University of Tokyo and Institute
Technology of Tokyo.

Motivation letter for a Master in Food Safety

Dear Committee,

Allow me first, to express my deepest gratitude to [university name] for allowing me to take part
in the selection process. I am [student name], a fresh graduate from [university name2],
Indonesia. Herewith, I would like to request your kind permission as to request a review and
further assessment for myself to be considered as a student for a Master’s degree in [university
name]. Kindly allow me to briefly elaborate the reasoning of my request.

Since I want to deepen my previous education in Food Process Engineering, the perfect choice
for my graduate study is at [university name]. I would like to conduct a Master of Food Safety as
my first preference and Master Food Technology as my second preference. I’m interested in
studying food production processes as an integrated system and their relation to the legal,
economic, risk management and communication aspect of food safety. I consider that I can get
valuable knowledge about the determinant factor of sustainable development. And I also believe
the course will give me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge about legal and policy aspects.

This Master course offers everything I need to become an expert in food safety. The program is
taught through collaboration between academics with world-class expertise in diverse aspects
of food safety and gives students an opportunity to learn about a wide range of problems in food

along with skills to review and measure the properties and quality of food. I learnt further when I
did an internship for one of Indonesia’s biggest research institutes, Indonesian Coffee and
Cacao Research Institute, working in the product process and quality department. Working with
this institution has given me many important insights on the importance of delivering high-quality
food. This was very rewarding as it led me to gain a grant for my final research entitled “Process
Analysis of Sorghum Crackers Drainage Using Hybrid Type Dryer with Energy Sourced From
Solar Light and Biomass”. This research aimed to improve the quality of drainage food product
properties and the potential to produce best quality food based on local resources.

[University name] is also known as one of the best for its specialisations in food safety, which
means that I will be taught by top researchers and experts. Studying in [university name] also
offers opportunities for professional networking, and will be my collaboration partner in the

Motivation letter for Master in International Information Systems

Dear Madam or Sir,

With this letter, I am applying for a position in the Masters of International Information Systems
programme, offered at [university name]. With my current experience as a Pharmaceutical Market
Research professional, I wish to expand my technical knowledge of information systems and turn my
focus towards their wide-scale applications in hospitals and pharmacies as a Clinical Workflow
Consultant. By reading the course curriculum available online, I have found that the subject material
covered will best suit my career goals. Lastly, the prospect of participating in a mandatory exchange
program is an excellent way to observe divergent information systems, as well as build upon my cultural
cognisance.

By trade, I specialise in Pharmaceutical Market Research and provide decision support solutions to large
pharmaceutical companies. As part of my role I liaise with clients regarding their marketing and
management objectives, create and update surveys to capture consumer behaviour, assist with
technical data quality management, code complex responses and in turn, produce insightful reports.
Additionally, as it is a small company, my role often demands that I gather primary data from academic
papers, adapting content and converting them into real market practices. During this role, I undertook
and completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics. The purpose of which was to better my
understanding of clinical trials, improve in survey design, and to learn how to program and store
statistical data sets. My responsibility, diligence and management aptitude were integral to the role,
however, it was clear that my progress was decelerated by my lack of technical, information systems-
related, training.
The customised introduction to International Information systems addresses the next step in my
professional development. The Australian health care system is changing from a paper-based recording
system to a digital enterprise/network. This remodelling of a national health system implies the need for
large investments in hardware and software infrastructure and in people with the right skillset to meet
this demand. The combination of subjects such as ‘Advanced Service Management’ and ‘Fundamentals
of Enterprise-wide IT Architectures management’ in the Management stream and ‘Data Warehousing’,
‘Knowledge Discover in Databases’ and ‘Process-oriented Information Systems’ in the Informatics path
would contribute to my professional ambitions.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from [university name] in Australia. During my
degree, I was very active in many facets of university life. I completed a number of internships around
my university campus, working for small business owners. This gave me an outlet to apply theoretical
knowledge in a practical setting and also sparked my interest in Market Research and Business
Consulting. Further to this I remained engaged in university affairs by volunteering for the Student
Ambassador program. In this program my duties varied from taking prospective students on tours,
introducing and guiding guests of honour, and speaking to schools around Australia regarding
scholarship programs.

Before moving to Australia I had spent much of my earlier childhood living in the Philippines and Sri
Lanka. Having exposure to these experiences at an early age sparked my interest in cultural interactions
and how information is shared by means of globalisation. With this upbringing, I became interested in
languages and henceforth learnt Spanish in both schools and in my free time. Learning intensively in
Spain for a month, I reached an A2 proficiency. Learning about this program some time ago I set aside
Spanish and began learning German. As I write this I have reached a B2 level and am capable of
communicating effectively. Given the opportunity, however, I would use the mandatory language
program to improve on my Spanish and look at potentially studying abroad in Spain or Spanish-speaking
Latin American countries.

My ambition to study in Germany stems from a dearth of equivalent professional programs offered in
Australia. As mentioned earlier, the future of healthcare in Australia will demand a workforce with a
specialised skillset. With this degree I would like to meet this demand and, in the future, be a pioneer in
the architecture, management and protection of information systems. Furthermore, Germany’s
geographic location and current economic strength attract industry experts from around the world.
With the notion of idea-sharing in mind, this would be a perfect ground to establish the next step of my
professional career.

With all of my experience listed, I am in search of bringing my career to the next level. The subjects
offered in this program are specifically in line with my professional goals. Additionally, the mandatory
study abroad semester provides a great grounding in which to further experience divergent cultures and
exchange knowledge. I am certain that the knowledge and skills learnt from my professional experience,
university, and extracurricular activities would make me a valuable addition to the Masters of
International Information Systems program offered at [university name].

Thank you in advance for considering my application,

Motivation letter for Master in Advanced Optical Technologies

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am very glad to apply for Master’s study in Advanced Optical Technologies (MAOT). I am from
Ethiopia and I graduated from [university name], one of the top-ranked universities in the
country, in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Communication) with a Bachelor of Science
degree program. I awarded a distinction honour’s degree with a CGPA of 3.62/4.00 and I am
among the top three ranked graduates in this field of study in the year 2013. After my
graduation, I have been working as an assistant lecturer for undergraduate electrical and
computer engineering students in the same university and department I have been graduated,
[university name].

A couple of reasons motivate me to apply for a Master’s degree study in advanced optical
technology. Firstly, when I attended my undergraduate study I came across the adventures of
scientists, researchers, engineers and technologists to make the data transmission effective and
easy by the use of optical technologies. I often spend most of my work time on reading and
assimilating different journals, articles, papers and research topics about optics as a whole and
specifically on its impact in communication. Considering the current advancements of fiber
optics and laser technology application in communication, impresses me a lot and thereby
motivates me to pursue my postgraduate study in optical technology and related study area. I
demonstrated good understanding and grades in subjects related to optics during my B.Sc.
study. Besides, I attend some public lectures and laboratory demonstrations in optics. My
secondary tertiary and B.Sc. study are in schools and universities where English is the medium
of instruction. Besides, I scored 7 in IELTS academic module which clears my English language
proficiency. Therefore, I strongly believe that my educational qualification and motive towards
the subject matter makes me a suitable candidate for your program.

It is well-known that Germany is one of the best countries in Europe where there are a number
of best universities. My desire to pursue my postgraduate study emanates not only from this but
also from the similarities in academic organisation between my country and Germany since
most of educational curriculums in my country are created from the experience of German’s.
Besides, from my early age, I am highly interested to know the culture and norms of German
people.

The concrete reason for my choice to take part specifically in MAOT is the in-depth trainings in
the fundamentals of optical technology and the chance to get a highly interdisciplinary program
which brings together experts and knowledge from different related fields of Engineering,
Physics, Computer Science and Medicine, unlike other universities in optical technologies. The
presence of optical communication infurtherapplications of six main topics of optical technology
where two will be major makes my choice ideal. But my intention to apply in your program is not
only due to the presence of the discipline but also to benefit from the scholarship. Indeed, it is
true, there is no other program that meets my need like MAOT, since it provides detailed
training in the basics and applications of optical technologies and has six different, currently
demanding, specialisation areas which include optical communication.

Generally, I believe that I fulfil all the criteria for your program and I am highly motivated on the
field of optical technologies. So, I will be glad to take part in your program and I hope I will join
your academy in this session to achieve my educational and future career goals.

Thank you for your time to consider my application. Hoping to hear from you soon!

With best regards!
