Carson City attorney Caren
Jenkins was the first of four
candidates for district judge in
Carson City/Storey County to file
for office in 2008. She also hopes
to be the first woman rural district
judge in the history of Nevada.
Women in Clark and Washoe
Counties have held district judge
seats since Miriam Shearing
broke the gender barrier 1982.
But, to date, no rural Nevada
district court judges have been
women. Jenkins intends to
achieve that “first” in 2009.
As a judicial candidate, Jenkins
should be more recognized for
her qualifications than for her
shot at making history. In 2006,
she and seven others applied
to the Nevada Commission on
Judicial Selection for an open seat
due to a retiring judge. Jenkins
was among only 3 attorneys
other candidates in the current
judicial race also applied, but
were not among those applicants
forwarded for the Governor’s
consideration.
Judicial candidates often
have experience as district
attorneys, public defenders and
attorneys general. And this race
is no exception—three of the
candidates are former district
attorneys, having served in Carson
City, Elko or Lyon Counties. But
the largest portion of cases before
the district courts involve family
law and general civil cases—the

Play It Again Sports,
located in the Carson
Valley Plaza in Carson City,
has been locally owned
and operated by Joe and
Tami Stein for the last
11 years. As the name
would imply, Play It Again
Sports deals in used
sporting good supplies.
But as some may be
unaware, Play It Again
Sports also stocks plenty
of new sports products
and is a large supplier of
equipment and jerseys to
local teams and leagues.
According to Stein, “We
carry 75% new and 25%
used.” Stein says that, “I
have always had to focus
on promoting the fact that
we carry new products
because our name gives
people the impression that
we only carry used.”

opened the doors to their

Dr. Clint Euse explains,
“We wanted to create a

a beverage bar, waterfall,
and even a big-screen TV.”
Dr. Clint Euse is a Carson
City native whose education
and early practice took
him to Nebraska, Iowa,
and Utah. His father is a
well-known veterinarian in
Carson City, and Clint always
looked forward to the day he
could open his own practice
in Carson City.
“I was very happy to get
back to the west coast,” he
said. “There really isn’t a

practice with Dr. Randy
Wright since July 2005. They

years to come. Dr. Wright
has been in Carson City
for over 20 years now, and
sees this new office as a
way to bring dentistry to
people in his home town in

just didn’t appeal to me
either.”

twenty employees, all
with an average of 10
years of experience in
the cosmetology industry.

perms and Redken for
their hair color services.
Prices are very reasonable
and seniors are entitled to
discounted haircuts (only
$10) weekdays before 3:00
P.M.
TeamClips caters to
every member of the family,
especially children who find
the salon very welcoming.
Kids are greeted with toys
and a play area including
an X-Box or PS-2 to keep
them entertained while
they are waiting for their
turn. There are also styling
chairs (pictured) shaped
like cars in order to make
the smallest patrons feel
comfortable. Televisions
are set up at each station
so the big game or favorite
cartoons can be viewed
while the staff makes you
look great. After the haircut,
kids can choose their own
toy from the treasure box.
TeamClips is possibly the
only salon where kids do not
cry when they come in, but
they do sometimes cry when
it is time to leave.

Care has been operating in
Carson City for the last ten
years. Owned and operated
by Dr. Matti Vazeen, having
received his Medical
Degree from North Western
University in Chicago,

owned and operated
by Kirk Wentworth
since 1985 after his
graduation from the
University of Arizona.
The philosophy behind
