Used Oil Analysis Kit

The Used Oil Analysis Kit allows to monitor the condition

of lubrication oils using an ALPHA-T, TENSOR or VERTEX
FT-IR spectrometer equipped with an adequate transmis-
sion cell. Predefined integration methods for trend analysis
according to the official standards ASTM E 2412 – 04, DIN
51452 and DIN 51453 are included. Applying these methods
on the IR-spectrum of engine oils, hydraulic fluids and other
fluids used in machinery operation allows to monitor the
depletion of additives, increase of contaminant concentra-
tions and ongoing degradation. The user can setup addi-
tional integration methods and calibrations in a very easy
manner.

The kit contains a dedicated software-wizard (Fig. 1) that

guides the user in a few steps through the complete analy-

analysis result (Fig. 2). Any data processing that is required
for data evaluation like correction of the optical path length
and calculation of difference spectra is performed automati-
cally. The simple and intuitive user interface allows opera-
tion even by spectroscopic inexperienced personnel.
The use of an optional database allows the display of trends
in the analytical results. Changes of individual analytical
parameters of the monitored oil can be followed in a graph.

FT-IR spectrometer ALPHA-T or TENSOR series
or VERTEX series.
Transmission cell with 100µm optical path length;
recommended for manual use: A148S-B Omni-
Cell liquid transmission cell with KBr windows
F148S-05.

Options:
O/DB Software package for storing and manag-
ing analytical data in a database. Includes trend
display of data.

Applications:
Measurement of oil quality and oil degradation pa-
rameters. The Kit includes a set of more than 25
different integration methods grouped into several
categories.
