TSLB3073 Reflection

During my involvement in the TSLB3073, teaching of reading and writing in the primary
ESL classroom, I have been assigned in a team of three to perform a simulated teaching
session. During this session, we were told to apply the skills of teaching reading and writing
during the teaching of a topic in the primary ESL classroom.

During this session, I have learned a lot of skills in the teaching of reading and writing
skills and during those times, I have developed the correct reading and writing skills. Other
than that, I have also mastered a few of the reading techniques that are applicable in the
primary ESL classroom, mainly the skill of speed reading and comprehensive reading.

Other than that, during the session, I have also improved upon my skills of managing
a reading and writing class where all the pupils in it seems uninterested in the lesson. My
incorporation of a colourful presentation as well as an interesting topic to discuss with help me
a lot in making sure that the class’s attention is on me.

On the other hand, there are still a few flaw that I have to fix by the time the future me
steps into a classroom. One of which is when I skipped a few steps in the lesson plan that are
vital to the topic that is currently being taught in the class. In the future, this will not happen
again as it will disturb the flow of the lesson during classes and due to that, will lower the
efficiency of the lesson itself.

As a conclusion, during this course, I have learned, experienced and also improve on
a lot of things. My weakness are to be overcome with in the near future. This course really did
help me in improving myself as a teacher to be.
