I saw you: Bryant Ordinario and his extraordinary love story

“Two less lonely people in the world

Love is just a four letter word, but has non- identical meanings, we use the word love to express
our sentiments. We, may use it in day to day colloquy like saying, I love your status updates or OOTD in
social media. Sometimes, we get drifted with the strong emotions shown in the melodramatic movies and
television dramas that we watch or novels that we read. In Greek, different words are associated to
describe the different kinds of love. Phileo- a love that is celebrated with our friends, familial love- a love
shared between parents and child, Eros- passionate love stipulated by our senses, and Agape- an absolute
kind of love that is sacrificial and unconditional.

As of October 2017, the current world population record is 7.6 billion, definitely a huge number
to consider. But the more important question is? How can a man and a woman meet and finally feel the
most unexplainable and immeasurable feeling in the world? How can strangers cross paths and feel an
unfathomable kind of romance? How can a sightless man meet the love of his life? So many questions but
definitely one answer- Love.

“ Kita Kita” or translated in English as “ I Saw You” is a movie that gathered millions in the box
office, a romantic comedy that evolves around two strangers in Japan, the lovely “Leah” a broken hearted
and undirected tour guide who lost her vision because of a painful break up and “ Tonyo” the guy who
has a face only a blind woman can love, happens to be her neighbor who consistently comes to her place,
cheers her up and helps her pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Without seeing “Tonyo” Leah broke
her walls, moved on from her bitterness and eventually romance blossoms between them. The movie
gathered the public’s admiration and gives hope to the hopeless that “True love wins” and that “Forever”
really exists. Nonetheless, some movie goers’ say that this kind of love story only happen in the movies
but, certainly not for Sir Bryant Ordinario, a newly hired computer teacher in Tumaini National High School
and his wife Vilma. Unusual as it may seem for a sightless man to marry a woman having a clear vision.
Many people find it strange and some even say “Love literally is Blind” according to sir Bryant he was born
with a clear vision, until one day his vision became blurry, his parents brought him to an ophthalmologist
but instead of fixing his vision he lost it, the eye practitioner gave him eyeglasses that did not match his
needs, his retinas in both eyes were damaged, for him it was the end of the world, this painful catastrophe
made him feel depressed, that he even tried to commit suicide. However he still struggled to reach his
dreams and finish his studies. Now, his disability doesn’t make him economically nor physically vulnerable
for he works as a computer teacher to earn a living for his family. Vilma his wife literally becomes his eyes,
Vilma goes to school too, divides her time attends to his needs and the need of their seven year old son
named Aron Eisen Claude Ordinario.
According to sir Bryant Vilma’s parents opposed about their relationship because they see Bryant a not
functional individual, they questioned his ability of raising a family but, sir Bryant proved them wrong,
eventually wheels turned romantically between them and they said “ I Do” in San Mateo Catholic Church
on May 28, 2010.

Love indeed, is unconditional and sacrificial, their love story exudes magic in the ordinariness of their lives,
their story highlights that true love is not meticulously calculated on currencies in the bank, fair
countenance or admirable physique, They give an inspiration to all that true love is given and received in
spite of obvious limitations, truly the heart feels what the eyes cannot see. Although, like normal lovers,
their relationship is not honey all the time, there were inevitable battles along the way, they shed rivers
of tears and was once at the verge of giving up, but their bittersweet battle to forever, made them love
each other more.

Yes, Love is the most wonderful and enchanting feeling in the world, you don’t choose whom you’re going
to fall in love with, love chooses you. Sometimes when true love appears right before our eyes we do not
see it, because we are too busy looking for it elsewhere, all we need to do is close our eyes, disregard
everything that we can see or hear outside- Stop, focus, and listen to the beat of our hearts and feel that
extra ordinary feeling of magic.
