"Bitcoin Jesus" Is Trying To Create A Sovereign "Libertarian Utopia"

Roger Ver - a.k.a bitcoin Jesus - and Olivier Janssens are trying to transform a long-sought after libertarian ideal into a reality. As CoinTelegraph reports, the
pair has announced that they’re in the process of creating the first independent state governed by libertarian values – and they’ve invited any like-minded
individuals to join them.

The pair said Friday that they’re working with a team of lawyers to try and figure out how to legally create their own independent country. Ver is a longtime
advocate of bitcoin who surrendered his US citizenship and became a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis a few years back.

The pair have yet to disclose the location, nor has indicated what entry standards would be required.

The country, which would be reminiscent of Ayn Rand’s Galtian paradise, is intended to be a place where those who reject governmental controls and seek to
maintain libertarian freedoms can gather and promote a truly free society.
CoinTelegraph reports that the locations being evaluated include areas that are safe and conflict-free, but also enjoy proximity to economic centers in the US,
Europe, and Asia, while also being accessible by water. The team is hoping to offer a stable government with substantial national debt a way to eliminate some
of that debt with a land lease to FreeSociety. On its website, the team says they’ve started preliminary talks with governments and interest “is much higher than
initially expected.”

While Ver told CoinTelegraph that the country “isn’t an ICO”, it’s unclear how the FreeSociety team would acquire the money needed to purchase land upon
which to build their sovereign nation.

Of course, Ver & Co. aren’t the first to attempt this. In 2008, billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel launched an initiative to develop a floating city, called a
seastead, that would serve as a permanent, politically autonomous settlement. He invested some $1.7 million in The Seasteading Institute, and resigned from
its board in 2011. Back in February, he told the New York Times’s Maureen Dowd. However, it appears the Seasteading Institute plans to soldier on without
Thiel.

According to Business Insider, the group recently met with officials in French Polynesia, an island chain located in the South Pacific, and discussed plans to
develop a seastead off its coast. If things go as planned, the institute might break ground as early as 2017.

They already created Ayn Rand's paradise.  It's called Isreal.

What if we are, all, TRULY, in-Hell, and that is the honestly-to-God explanation for why this "world" is so God damned miserable?

This is a terrifying possibility that "no one" wants to even consider, but I think that it is something that is VERY probable, given all that we see
happening, INCESSANTLY, despite the prima-facie evidence for all of the malevolence being manufactured...

THINK ABOUT IT, Folks.

Does not take a supreme deity to make humans miserable.
The Tribe makes us miserable through entertainment, politics, monetary policy, social engineering, and theft.

Happy, satisfied people are not the rabid, miserable consumers that are necessary to transfer wealth to a few.
Look at what happens to nations surrounding Israel. Look at what happened to the 1947 UN Partition of Palestine.
The only way for this to attributed to God is if God really chose the Tribe as His People.
Now think about what sort of deity would do such a thing.

There is a disconnect somewhere.

Theil of palintar and the CIA? Seasteading is already illegal under international law so...

Laws are made to be broken.  USA broke many international laws, so have other countries.
As long as they can make it work and no one blows it up, why not?

Maybe a lot of what is written including Holy books are 'fake news'  There is quite a bit of evidence to back up that statement.
I believe there is a deity, beyond the senses and undeniable and indescribable as it beyond our comprehension and it designed to be that way.
We attempt to put human attributes and emotions to God, such as love, anger and so on.
However, whatever is behind this thing we call life is surely beyond all those things.

1. You generally cannot buy land when you are an (Israelian) Arab- Yandex "Jewish National Fund"
2. You get ethnically cleansed if you are not a Jew and at the wrong tme at the wrong place
3. It is a police state - just travel there and see for yourself (sudden checks at the airport; checkpoints)
4. It is a rogue nation and interventionist (nothing libertarian), a land grabber (Golan heights; Sheba Farms) and aggressor nation (Libanon)
5. It has no banking secrecy; banking in general is extremely cumbersome when it involves currency transfers - ask anyone having to do business
with Israelian customers
6. Iti defines itself offficially as a Jewish state - exercising a hard form of Apartheid
7. It has nukes - and stole it from the US
8, It killed American Servicemen on the USS Liberty when trying to sink the ship - to incite a war
9. It finances ISIS and Al-Quaida
10. It aims for the destruction of Syria, one of the few secular nations in th near east
I could go on for hours with this list.
NOW THE FUCK TELL ME WHAT IS EVEN REMOTELY LIBERATRIAN WITH ISRAEL?

You're right, I should give it more thought.  Let's see, Ayn Rand said that Isreal needed to be defended by the United States and that the Middle East
needed to be tamed.  Numerous neocons cite to Ayn Rand when they tell us about the benefit of American hegemony.  Ayn Rand's co-author was
Alan Greenspan, who supports Isreal and the BIS.   I'll continue giving this some more thought.

NoDebt  LetThemEatRand • Sep 25, 2017 11:41 PM

"Israel" was my first thought, too.
Ok, ok, let's calm down and thing about this rationally.  What part of the globe do they intend to displace the people already there to create this
new "country"?  Unless they're thinking about Antarctica, I can't image this undiscovered land they intend to populate.
So let's assume they DO find it (or create it on a coral reef or something).  What then?  It just gets branded as an illegal tax haven and the IRS
swoops in and takes it all (backed by a few platoons of well-armed US Marines).

Buy into this insanity at your own peril.

I dunno if this dude is connected/the same as the other FP SEZ but I strongly suspect they had a quiet agreement with the gov not to steal all the
women lol.  They are going to be on shallow water and 'create' land.  Reef restoration, aquaponics, nearby airport, special zoning.

The Resource Based Economy is coming.  This will be Version 0.1 where money (bitcoin proceeds) is used as seed capital.

In later generations when the cost of food, shelter, clothing and education is reduced to zero the currency of this libertarian country will be the skill
set of the individual which should, very broadly speaking, be uniform.
This was predicted by Jacque Fresco decades ago.
Go for it!

After the first city state has passed proof of concept adoption will follow.

None of us are going to live to see it, or afford to live in the prototypes, but this is encouraging.
... Unless this is where bitcoin billionaires go to get their freek on and live lives of pure consumption and vice while the rest of Tech focuses on
destroying mankind.

any_mouse  Clock Crasher • Sep 26, 2017 12:06 AM

Did Fresco happen to say where the free, endless energy would come from?
A world where agriculture would have no cost basis?
Finite Natural Resources will never make a free world.

There are seven behaviors that will derail any attempt at Utopia.
Catholics call them cardinal sins

Catholics call them cardinal sins.
It is why "From each according to his ability, and to each according to his needs" will never work, except at gun point.

___________

This statement is a bullseye. Human nature doesn't change. Bitcoin, dollars, gold, whatever the money is will continue to rule the world, even a
libertarian one. It seems like people are preprogrammed for this kind of behavior. The evolution of social networks and AI will be the end of human
cognitive abilities. If you think that social welfare makes people lazy and stupid you ain't seen nothin yet.

OK Bitcoin and the Bitcoin community.  I've been saying bitcoin is a ponzi scheme and to date you've proven me wrong.

Now Bitcoin community wants to do some good for humanity.  I initially want to call BS.  Can you prove the critics and haters wrong again?

Shit just got interesting.  I'll be keeping an eye on this.

When you see million dollar cars, private jets, homes built with precious metals and thousand dollar hookers en mass you'll know its fake.

tion  Clock Crasher • Sep 26, 2017 12:14 AM

There seem to be strong divides in the blockchain community.  Those who just want to get theirs / those who want to lift up the people towards
greater liberty.  Those who see blockchain as a tool / those who see blockchain as a potential god (to replace the government as god mentality
currently held by some people).  We're going to see a whole new era of SEZ rising that will be competing on a whole different level.  It might not
take as long as you think because current standing SEZ will start adopting.

Governments/localities that don't want to/can't claim authority based on fiction/force will start competing to be more attractive.  Governments
that do base their authority on fiction/force will have their fiction backdoored by blockchain and dismantled, and will either resort to naked
authoritarian violence or will be brought to their knees.  In the end it is almost an eventuality that the beast will be dismantled.  But some
blockchain as god / AI as god people want to build a new beast.  Next few decades ought to be interesting.

There's no place left on this planet to allow the creation of such a nation.  Antarctica have already been claimed by various nations and the
environment is too hostile.  No one would want to live there.  Outer space is out of reach and there's no guarantee that governments will allow
individuals easy access to space.  The only viable option today is take over an existing nation, or parts of it, to create this new nation.
