Students should choose 1 assignment from each subject for each day of school at home. (4 Assignments total per day)
Math
Multiplying Recipes
Ask your mom to borrow a
cookbook. Choose 1 recipe from
the cookbook. Write the recipe
down.
1) Double the recipe (multiply
by 2) –Write the new recipe
2) Half the recipe (multiply by
1/2)- Write the new recipe
Snow Measurement
Go outside and measure the snow
(you have a ruler in your agenda if
needed)
Write down the measurement of
the snow at your house.
1) How much snow would you
have if you had 5 times
amount of snow at your house?
2) How much snow would you
have if you had ¾ the amount
of snow?
Brain Pop- Reduce Fractions
Watch the Brain Pop Video for
“Reduce Fractions” (username and
password are in agenda). After
watching the video complete the
Vocabulary Activity.
Moby Max/FASTT Math
Complete 1 lesson on Moby Max
AND 1 lesson on FASTT Math.

Science
Chemical Changes
Look around your house and find
evidence of a chemical change and
evidence of a physical change.
Describe in words or illustrate with
a diagram. If using a diagram be
sure to label.
Electricity/Alternatives
List all the appliances in your home
that use electricity. Try to think of
an alternative to this appliance if
the power was lost. Does every
appliance have a replacement?
Remember even appliances with
batteries must be recharged or the
batteries replaced.
Example: electric can opener –
manual can opener
Earth Science
If we are out of school because of bad weather
(snow, wind, rain) go out into your yard when it
is safe and look at the land. Did it change as a
result of the weather? Example: Did mud wash
into the driveway or street? Did trees fall down?
Notice the difference in before and after. Can
you use Earth Science words to describe the
changes? Examples - deposition, erosion,
flooding, weathering.
Animal/Plant Cells
Read the information provided about plant
and animal cells. From what you have read
what is the one major difference? What is
the other difference? Can you use these
written descriptions to draw a diagram of a
plant cell and one of an animal cell?

Social Studies
Catastrophic Events in History
Write a newspaper article about a
catastrophic event in US history that
we have studied.
Examples:
Relocation of Native Americans
Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
Explosion of the Maine
(Be sure there is no “yellow
journalism” included.)
Historical People Trading Cards
Create a set of trading cards for
at least 5 people we have
learned about this year.
Include on the front of the card:
-Name
-Picture
On the back of the card:
-Birth and death date
-One interesting fact
-Why the person is important to
our social studies unit(s)
Persuasive Letter to a President
Choose a president we have studied this
year. Write a persuasive letter to him
persuading him to change something
based upon your views. Examples:
-Letter to McKinley asking him to improve
conditions at Angel Island
-Letter to T. Roosevelt asking him to get
the Panama Canal built
Illustrating your favorite Event
Create a drawing of your favorite
event or time period that we
have studied this year. Be sure it is
detailed and labeled to describe
the event it represents.
