BITSAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

l Candidates should have passed the 12th examination
of 10+2 system from a recognized central or state
board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and
Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.
l They should have obtained a minimum of aggregate
75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
subjects (if taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a
minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics,
Chemistry and Biology subjects (if taken Biology in
BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least
60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and
Mathematics / Biology subjects.
l For 2016- Only students, who are appearing for
12th examination in 2016 or who have passed 12th
examination in 2015, are eligible to appear in the

Applications are also invited from International students,
who have taken SAT and SAT Subject Tests conducted
by College Board (USA) for admission to different first
degree programmes at BITS Pilani-Hyderabad Campus
for Academic Year 2016-17. However, candidates
holding passport issued by country other than India
only are eligible under ‘International Students Scheme’.

BITSAT SELECTION
PROCEDURE

the candidate in the entrance exam. Apart from
this, the following selection criteria is also applicable-

Direct Admission to Board

Toppers:
Admission process of the institute will ensure guaran-
teed admission to all the students, who obtained first
ranks in their respective board examinations. First rank
students of all the central and state boards in India
will be given direct admission to the program of their
choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the
eligibility criteria mentioned above.

Admission of International
Students:
Admissions will be made on merit determined by score
obtained by candidate in SAT Subject Tests in Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics Level 2, subject to candi-
date meeting prescribed eligibility criteria.

BITSAT APPLICATION FORM

(tentative):
Application Fee of BITSAT is Rs.2090/ (Rs.1590/- for
female candidates). If a candidate chooses Dubai as
a test center, the application fee for both male and
female candidates will be same and will be US $ 50
(or Indian Rs.3100/-). Details for payment of fees will
be available while applying online. Deadline to apply
for BITSAT online along with the fee payment is third
week of February.
BITSAT Application Fee Payment
Modes:
1. By cash payment at all ICICI Bank branches in India
along with a specially generated Pay-in Slip: Fee
payment can be done through cash at ICICI bank
branches. They must download the Pay-in-slip on
the payments page and walk-into any ICICI bank
branch along with cash. The candidates will be
getting a confirmation receipt after depositing cash.
2. Payment by Credit Cards and Debit Cards (All credit
& Debit cards issued by Master and Visa) using
Online Payment Gateway.
3. Payment through Net Banking enabled accounts of
Indian banks using Online Payment Gateway: After

choose to pay via this mode, participating banks
list will be displayed and candidates can choose
accordingly.
For Foreign candidates not
residing in India:
Payment can be done through International Credit
Cards and Debit Cards using Online Payment Gate-
way.
Applying to BITS for Admission:
In addition to applying for and appearing in BITSAT,
candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS
as per the ‘Procedure for applying for Admission’.
They will be required to submit Admission Application
with 12th marks and preferences to different degree
programmes offered. The prescribed BITSAT Applica-
tion Form for admission will be available in third week
of May for those, who appeared in the entrance exam.
The completed form with the required application fee
has to be submitted so as to reach the Admissions
Office in last week of June.

BITSAT EXAM PATTERN
A
ll the questions and instructions of the test
are in English only. Candidates should bring
a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing,
etc. Blank sheets for rough work are provided,
if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are
not allowed in the test centers. Candidates are not
allowed to bring any other personal belongings such
as mobiles.
BITSAT is of total 3-hour duration (without break). The
test consists of four parts:
Part I Physics
Part II Chemistry
Part III (a) English Proficiency and
(b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV Mathematics
l All questions are of objective type (multiple choice
questions); each question with choice of four
answers, only one being correct choice.
l Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each
incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark).
No marks are awarded for questions not attempted.
l While the candidate can skip a question, the
computer doesn’t allow the candidate to choose
more than one option as correct answer.
l There will be 150 questions in all. The number of
questions in each part is as follows:

If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without
skipping any question), the candidate will have an
option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if
there is still time left. These extra questions will be from
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics only; four ques-
tions from each part. Further, once the candidate has
opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for cor-
rection of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
Important Things to Remember
about BITSAT Exam Pattern:
l There will be no time limit for individual parts of the
test. The candidate can go back and change any
of his/her answers among the 150 questions.
l The questions in BITSAT will be so designed that a
good student will be able to answer 150 questions
in 180 minutes. The extra questions (a maximum
of 12) will give a chance to highly meritorious
candidates to score higher. However, candidates
should keep in mind the fact that there is negative
marking for wrong answers and any attempt to
answer the questions by pure guessing of the
answers is not likely to have any advantage, but
may result in a reduction in the total score.
l The questions in BITSAT are selected at random
from a large question bank. Different candidates
will get different question sets. An expert committee
will ensure that the question sets are of comparable
difficulty level, content, question type, etc.

BITSAT EXAM CENTRES
I
f a candidate selects centers within India, he/she
will be asked to give three preferences and will be
allotted one out of these three. If a candidate picks
Dubai as a center, he/she will not be asked for
any other center preference and will be allotted Dubai
center only.
The final list of centers in India and operating days
at each center in India and Dubai will depend on the
number of applicants and their preferences. It will be
announced only after all the applications are received

and candidates will be informed of the same, so that
they can choose their date for the test as per acces-
sibility and availability of slots in any of these centers.
Test center allotment and announcement to candi-
dates will be tentatively in the last week of February.
For providing admissions to Integrated First Degree
Programmes, BITSAT Online Tests are conducted
across more than 50 cities across India including its
campus in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai.

BITSAT ADMIT CARD

ITSAT Admit Card is tentatively available for
download between third and last week of
April. Each candidate, who will register and
book online test slot, will be instructed to
download Admit Card of BITSAT for appearing in the
exam. Without this valid identity proof, no candidate
will be allowed to appear for this national level entrance
exam.
l Candidates of BITSAT will be given detailed

instructions in the admit card. They must carry it

along with them while appearing for the online test.
l The hall ticket will display details of the exam centre,

date, timing and the candidate’s particulars.

l After downloading BITSAT Admit Card, candidates

must check for discrepancies and if there are any,

then they must bring them to the notice of the
institute.
l Candidates shall put their signature in the
downloaded hall ticket in order to avoid any misuse.
Also, photo has to be attested by head of institution
or gazette officer.
l Along with BITSAT Admit Card, candidates shall

carry a valid photo ID proof while appearing for the

entrance exam.
