History
Creative Minds was founded in January 10, 2014 by Teacher Reginald Joseph A,
Soriano and Teacher Lorenzo Miguel G. Samonte. The school draws influences from a
primarily progressive philosophy, which it promotes through interactive and student-
centered learning coupled with Christian formative values. As graduates of Family Life
and Child Development from the University of the Philippines, the teachers recognize
the innate talents and potentials of each child. The teachers also saw the importance of
early childhood education in the lives of young children as it would help them unleash
and develop these potentials. The teachers then decided to put up Creative Minds

Founders
REGINALD JOSEPH A. SORIANO

Teacher RJ graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Home
Economics with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Life and Child Development.
HE worked as a preschool teacher for two years and is now studying as a law student in
the University of the Philippines School of Law. Teacher RJ is passionate in teaching
young children and as they will shape the next generations. Teacher RJ believes that
teaching is a noble and difficult profession. Despite its challenges, he believes that the
results far outweigh the difficulties, as teaching not only touches the minds of the
students, but also their lives. He believes that through teaching, he can share his
passion to explore the many wonders of the world.

LORENZO MIGUEL G. SAMONTE

A commercial airline pilot by profession, Teacher Enzo graduated from the University of
the Philippines Diliman College of Home Economics with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Family Life and Child Development. He worked for two years as a preschool teacher
and is not taking his Master’s degree in Educational Administration at the University of
the Philippines College of Education. Teacher Enzo believes in education, not only as a
way to foster proper values and morals, but also as a medium for social change and
awareness. He attempts to espouse such ideals to the many students who have come
under his supervision.

Philosophy
Creative Minds sees the child is a discoverer, actively participating in his or her own
learning. Each child has unique and innate human capacities that emerge on a time-
ordered basis, as influenced by the interaction of biological growth and external
stimulation. The child learns through active thought and guided interactions with his
environment. The child learns from their own experience as they explore and discover
the world around them.
At Creative Minds, the teacher serves as guide for the children’s learning experiences.
He supervises such experiences based on observable and assessable readiness levels
of each child. He ituilizes developmentally appropriate methods and activities to
communicate ideas. Teachers also are responsible for setting a systematic course for
the child’s progression through different learning competencies. Rather than being a
prime center of authority, the teacher must be able to interact with students and be able
to understand each child’s concern and promote intrinsic motivations for learning.

Creative Minds is a school that proudly provides a safe and accessible environment
oriented towards the learning of the individual child. It is a venue that brings larger world
experiences into the presence of the students. The school’s controlled yet permeable
nature ensures learning through adequate guidance through such experiences. The
school must ensure that as the children explore and discover in the school, it would be a
fun, exciting, and most importantly safe experience. It also fosters the interactions of the
child with peers.

For the Creative Minds family, the community is regarded as responsible for promoting
the growth of families, as a whole and as individual family members. It supports learning
by ensuring a safe living environment for individuals. Creative Minds also sees the value
of Home-School Partnership in providing the best learning experience for the child. As
children spend most of their time at home, the importance of following up on what is
being taught in school is beneficial for the child’s development. It also has direct
influences in the learning process through the beliefs and value systems that the family
upholds.
