Remarks 0
• This manual describes how to create and restore disk images (clones) on AXIOM Aris-
tos Radis PC with the Symantec Ghost.
• Creating an image prior to performing SW upgrades will allow quick reinstallation if
there are unexpected problems.
• After a successful system installation and configuration, an image can be created as a
backup of the complete system.
• Ghost is able to create the images on all types of media such as CDs, DVDs or HDDs. It
is recommended and described in this document how to perform the backup to a USB
hard disk, which is available as a service tool. Alternately, it can be done to CD-R or on
M430/ M440 to DVD-R.
• This document is applicable for all versions of Radis beginning with VB10.
• The system will be down until the backup procedure is completed.
• The snapshots in this document should be understood as examples! They were taken
from different computers.
• The 2nd part of this manual describes the preparations of USB hard disk and configura-
tions on the Radis PC by the customer using the USB Kit as a temporary archive.
Abbreviations 0
Ghost = Symantec SW for creating hard drive and partition images (Norton Ghost)
Radis = AXIOM Aristos Image System
Safety Information 0
When performing the work steps and checks, the general safety information for medical
products must be observed.
• Ghost Kit with Ghost boot CD and USB hard disk, P/N: 10093998 (USB hard disk con-
nection). It contains:
- Cloning CD VD23E or higher
- USB hard disk, 120GB or higher + USB Cable
- USB extension cable (2m)
- OEM Ghost license
• The USB disk may be ordered separately as a service tool, P/N 099 94 872.
• Alternative: USB disk, P/N 099 94 872, or blank CD-R / CD-RW medium, TDK CDR 74
(P/N 743 95 86) or equivalent, if the Ghost images are to be stored to CD.
• For Celsius 460 (green housing) only: Additional USB 2.0 board for faster data trans-
fer P/N: 08691052 is recommended.
Log Files 0
1. Unlock the access to Windows® with Tab - Del - Transfer image (“+”).
2. Press the Windows® key, and then Run; enter radissysinfo > OK.
3. Press Start.
5. The log file will be created and saved to the selected directory.
8. Copy the compressed log file (2/Fig. 5 / p. 8) to a USB stick or similar medium, and
keep it ready in case it is requested by RSC/HSC/QIB/DCU.
¹ The log files look like this: “Log<date>_<time>.zip“
9. If a customer complaint has to be filed, send the file along with the complaint to Health-
care AX Complaint.
4. Copy the compressed log file (2/Fig. 8 / p. 10) to a USB stick or similar medium, and
keep it ready in case it is requested by RSC/HSC/QIB/DCU.
¹ The log files look like this: “Log<date>_<time>.zip“
5. If a customer complaint has to be filed, send the file along with the complaint to Health-
care AX Complaint.
NOTE The Ghost clones are compatible only with the same type of
PC (e.g. for transfer from Celsius 460 to Celsius 460).
Backup to Image
• In general, both “disks“ on the Radis PC should be cloned to images.
Celsius 460 (original, without the USB2 USB 1.1 Transfer rate 75 - 370 MB/min
board)
Celsius 460 (with additional USB2 USB 2.0 Transfer rate 800 - 2300 MB/min
board, P/N:8691052) / M410 / M430
/ M440
NOTE Celsius 460 supports USB 2.0 speed only with the addition-
ally installed USB card port, P/N: 8691052.
NOTE The transfer rate differs from disk to disk because of differ-
ent compression rates from Ghost.
Example:
3.1 GB takes about 4 - 5 minutes with USB 2.0 for Partition 1 (MED_SYSTEM)
Most USB hard disks are connected with a "Y-USB cable". The connectors should be used
parallel at the USB port. One of the connectors is for data and power and the second is for
power only. This is because modern mini USB hard disks do not have a separate power
supply unit, and in some cases, the power from one USB port is not enough.
The following issues have be considered before connecting the USB disk to create a Ghost
image on the AXIOM Aristos image system. The following steps may be performed on the
RADIS PC or on a Service PC.
• Some USB disk are shipped with a “FAT 32” file system. To use it with “Ghost”, the USB
hard disk has to be formatted “once“ in the NTFS file system. To check and change the
file system, perform the following:
- Open Windows Explorer
- Navigate to the USB hard disk.
- Right mouse-click on the USB hard disk > Properties.
- Check the file system. The file system is indicated on the “General” tab card.
- If the hard disk is not NTFS formatted, change formatting by right mouse-clicking on
USB hard disk > Format....
- In the Format window, change the file system to “NTFS” and use “Quick Format” (to
save time).
• To avoid overlaps from the different Ghost files and different Radis PCs, create a direc-
tory for every “DISK” to be backed up.
- Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the USB Hard disk, create the following directo-
ries and subdirecories
\Disk2

Minimizing Data
Archiving patients as possible and deleting the patient list
Ask the customer about which patients can be deleted.

In most cases, the connected USB drive is in the first posi-
tion in the “Selection windows”. The first embedded Radis
HD (MED_System) is in the second position, followed by the
second embedded Radis HD (MED_Data). Double-check and
compare the noted size of the drives. See the table below
with the size of the possible HDs.

fig. pos 1)to create a new directory.
6. Enter the file name for the image disk (e.g. Radis_DISK1).
Press Save to continue.

NOTE If you want to keep the Syngo databases from your previous
installation, restore only Disk 1 (Backup (Clone) and Restore
Strategy / p. 10).
NOTE If you want to reload the images from CD-Rom, select the
CD-R drive at this point and follow the procedure.
The SW will prompt you to insert and change the CDs.
CAUTION Any data on the selected hard disk will be irretrievably over-
written and cannot be recovered
¹ Double-check the selection of the hard disk.
7. When the message box Clone Completed Successfully appears, press Continue.
The customer can buy a USB hard disk kit to use as an additional local archive. For this,
preparations on the Radis are necessary and are suggested on the USB hard disk (see
below).
• The structure on the customer's USB hard disk should be discussed with the customer,
e.g.:
F: \Folder01
\Folder02
\Folder03
............
The following configurations are necessary to use the function in the Patient Browser :>
Transfer > Export to Offline….
• Connect the previously prepared USB hard disk to the Radis computer.
• Open the Windows Explorer and check the letter used for the USB drive. (This has to be
the same for all future sessions, e.g. "F:\".)
