3‐ Light Duty Pumps: 
Light Duty Pumps can only be considered if all of the following conditions are true: 
‐ Non‐Essential service  
‐ Non‐ Hazardous service  
‐ 100% Spare 
‐ Discharge pressure > 1900 kPa (g)  
‐ Fluid Temp. between 0: 150˚ C 
‐ RPM less than 3600 
‐ TDH less than 120 m  

 Two Types of pumps can be considered for the light duty  

1‐ Flexibly coupled, vertical in‐line, back pullout  
Can only be considered if the additional two conditions are true: 
‐ For driver power less than 55 kW. 
‐ impeller tip speed less than 62 m/s 
2‐ Horizontal foot mounted, single suction, back‐pull‐out pumps. 
2.1 Single-stage centrifugal pumps:  
‐ Vertical, in-line, close-coupled pumps, OH5 to ISO 13709 or BS 4082-1 Code R
 Differential head is lower than 200 m
 Flow is lower than 400 m3/h
 Temperature is lower than 200 C
 IEC Motor

‐ Vertical, in-line, back-pull-out pumps, OH3.

 Motor Power over 55 kW
 RPM less than 3600
 Fluid Temperature less than 400 C
 Impeller tip speed less than 62 m
 NEMA motor

‐ Horizontal, single suction, back-pull-out pumps, OH2

 Tip speed lower than 62 m
 Driver rated power not exceeding 150 kW

‐ Vertical, in-line, high-speed pumps, OH6

 Tip speed lower than 62 m/s
 ‐ Horizontal, double suction pumps, with impeller supported between bearings, BB1 or
BB2.

2.2 Two –Stage Horizontal Centrifugal Pump

‐ Single casing pumps axially split, BB3;
‐ Double casing pumps with inner casing axially split, BB5
 Non-abrasive service only.
 Discharge pressures lower than 10,000 kPa
 Non-hazardous , Non-flammable Service
 Hazardous and/or flammable service with pumped fluid specific gravity is 0.7 or lower
at operational temperature range.
 Fluid Temperature less than 100 C.
‐ Double casing pumps with inner casing radially split, Volute Type BB5
 For abrasive service

2.3 Vertically suspended centrifugal pumps

‐ Wet pit single-stage, VS1, VS2 or VS3
‐ Wet pit, two-stage and multi-stage, VS1, VS2 or VS3
‐ Dry pit double casing multistage pumps, VS6.
‐ Avoid VS5, VS4 Cantilever Pumps
