Reset in School Closings

To fully understand the School Closings Reset process, it’s important to
understand both the Automatic Reset settings and the Reset Event Times
settings.

Reset criteria for School Closings are set up under File > SC Options.

Events can either be reset once a day or multiple times during the day based
upon Reset Event Times.

--To Reset School Closings events once a day, select the "Reset past
events each day at" option under the Automatic Reset section. Then, enter the
time in the available box to tell the system when to reset. The drawback to this
option is that if it is set up like the one above, past events will only be reset at
10:15 am each day. That means closings from the previous day would still be
available to go on air up until that time.

--To Reset School Closings events multiple times during the day,
select the "Reset past events at __ mins past the hour" option. Selecting this will
result in the system resetting closed events at the specified number of minutes
after the hour immediately following the time set up in the individual school
record for the "Keep Status Until" setting.

As an example, look at the following record. The Academy of Dance Arts has
reported that they will be Opening Late. Based upon the criteria set up under
Reset Event Times in SC Options > Reset, the system has assigned the "Keep
Status Until" time to 02/16/2008 10:15 AM. With this setting, this status would
reset at 11:10 AM on 02/16/2008 because the system looks for the next whole
hour. If this particular item needs to be reset at a different time, the "Keep Status
Until" setting can be edited to meet the needs.

It’s important to remember that this setting can be edited on an individual basis.
That edit will only be good for that closing event but allows control over when
individual events will expire.

Back to the first screen on the first page, the 10:15 "Keep Status Until" time is
based upon what was set up for Opening Late in Reset Event Times.

The event will be eligible to be reset ten minutes after the hour following the time
set here. For example, information for a school that is Closing Early will be reset
at 5:10 pm. These settings can be adjusted for the necessary times for your
station.

--To Reset School Events at any time, use the Reset Now option.

"Reset past school events" will reset all events that are past, based upon the
criterion that has been set up previously. This will allow you to bypass the one
time reset or the reset that will occur on the hour.

"Reset all school events" will reset all events in the system regardless of their
"Keep Status Until" times.

***
If your station uses Special Status Messages, these also have an expiration
time that should be set up when they’re created. These will expire at their
assigned time and will be reset if "Include Custom Messages in the Reset" has
been selected on the Reset page. In the example below, if the only status chosen
was 'No PM Kindergarten', then it would expire at 4 pm and be reset at 4:10 pm if
the option to 'Reset past events at 10 minutes past the hour' has been selected.
