Title/Focus Unique?

are enhanced by their sense of belonging in their world and how active members in a community
contribute to the well-being, growth, and vitality of their groups and communities.
SLO: 1.1.1: Value self and others as unique individuals in relation to their world.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Describe how they are unique.
2. Identify some unique characteristics that differentiate themselves from others.
3. Create a poster that portrays these unique characteristics.

 Paper for Posters
 Materials for the poster

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS


 Create an exemplar of the unique poster

PROCEDURE
Introduction Time

 Have students gather on the carpet.


 Begin by asking students how they are unique? How they are different 2 min
than others around them.
 Giving students to think about their response before sharing.
Body Time
Topic: Picture  Before reading the book ask the students to think

there is no one just like them. They may look the
same but not have the same name or live at the
same place.
Conclusion Time

 Have student talk with their table partners about how they are
unique. 3 min
 When students are completed have them bring the posters to the
teacher.
Assessment
 Discussion: Anecdotal: Listen to see if students are understanding the concept
based on responses
 Poster: Check to see if students added several features of personal identity to
their poster.
