Petitioner seeks a one-judge emergency stay of his removal, which he claims is scheduled

to occur on Saturday, January 13, 2018. See Fed. R. App. P. 27(c). In order to provide

sufficient time to consider our jurisdiction, as well as the motion, a temporary stay will be

granted. See Lacey v. Gonzales, 499 F.3d 514, 518 (6th Cir. 2007) (stating court always has

jurisdiction to consider its own jurisdiction).

The motion for a stay is temporarily GRANTED pending further order of the court. The

respondent is directed to file a response to the stay motion no later than 3 PM on Tuesday,

January 16, 2018. The respondent’s brief shall respond to the motion and brief whether we have

jurisdiction in this matter. See Lacey, 499 F.3d at 518-19.
