Lab Exercise 5.1 – ID and Filters
At the end of this lab exercise, Participants will be able to:
· Identify a 2D barcode on the demo plate
· Use the Image Filter to enhance text

The Participant will utilize the following In-Sight Functions to successfully complete this
exercise:
· Easy Builder User Interface Application Step 2
- Inspect Part
o Identification Tools
o Image Filter Tools
4. Select Read 2D Code from the list and click the Add button.

Follow the steps below to complete the lab exercise:

1. Load MyCount.job from the previous lab exercise.

NOTE: Confirm that your demo plate is on the PASS side and that you are not in Live
mode.
2. Click the Inspect Part button.

5. Place the tool region around the 2D Matrix feature to be inspected.

6. Click the OK button.
NOTE: Make sure the PASS image is showing.

The Add Tool box displays.

7. Select the Settings tab.

8. Change the Mode to Match String.
NOTE: The Match String will be set to the currently decoded string automatically.
Lab Exercise 5.2 – Enhance Text with Image Filter
Continue with My2D.job.
1. Confirm that your demo plate is on the PASS side and that you are not in Live mode.
NOTE: You should still be in the Inspect Part section of the Application Steps Menu.

9. Select the Results tab.

10. Confirm the tool is passing with a result of ABC123. 2. Click the Image Filter Tools link to expand the list of choices.
11. Flip the plate to the FAIL side and acquire a new image.
12. Confirm the ID Matrix tool is failing with a result of ABA122.
NOTE: The tool fails because the decoded string does not match the Match String
specified in Step 8.

3. Select Filter from the list and click the Add button.

Failing

4. Place the tool region around the Text area of the demo plate and click the OK
button.

13. Save the job as My2D.job onto the In-Sight camera and in your own folder on the
PC.

5. Change the Tool Name from Filter_1 to Binarize.

6. Select the Settings tab.

7. Change the Threshold Mode to Manual.

NOTE: Adjust the Threshold until you get a good image.

8. Save the job as MyFilter.job onto the In-Sight camera and in your own folder on the
PC.
