Ewon was childless and was also suffering from severe hardship. He went for Ifa
consultation on how to solve his problem. Ifa assured him that he will be blessed
with not only one child but many children. He was also told that he would
overcome the hardship he was facing, but should offer ebo, have faith in and
practise Ifa.
He should not engage in farming or work that would require too much energy
from him. The ebo materials include 4 rats, 4 fishes, 2 hens and money.
Ewon complied and thereafter was blessed with many children and all his
adversities became a thing of the past. He became happy and was singing praises
to Ifa.

2. Ifa says that you will be blessed with two Ire at the same time. They are Ire of
wealth and good spouse and that you should also claim what is rightfully
yours. Ifa even says that the wife you will marry will come from a wealthy
home. You need to offer ebo for this to happen. The ebo materials are 3
roosters, 3 hens and money. In addition to this, special Ipese (offering)
needs to be done as follows.
Six lumps of bean fritters (prepared with oil and salt),
another six lumps of bean fritters (prepared without oil and
salt). These will be put separately in two black earthen
plates. Then a soup will be prepared and spiced with locust
beans, onions, etc. This soup will be poured on these two
set of bean fritters (six each in a plate). Ifa will be
consulted as to where to take these offering to.
On these, Ifa says:
Bohun ba nu’ni
Kohun o ma nu’ni
Dia fun Orunmila
Baba nsunkun alailobirin
Won ni ko rubo
Translation
When one looses one’s possession
One should not lose the voice to claim it
This was Ifa’s message to Orunmila
When he was lamenting his want of spouse
Orunmila had no money and spouse. He went for Ifa consultation and was advised to
offer ebo and Ipese as stated above. He complied. He was also asked to go and put the
Ipese on the way to the stream and to stay nearby and watch what would happen to
the ipese. Orunmila did as instructed.
That day, the daughters of Alara (king of Ilara) and Ajero (king of Ajero) were on
their way to the stream. They saw the two ipese on the way with a pleasant aroma.
They decided to take the ipese and eat. Consequently they picked the ipese and were
struggling among themselves who should eat oole(bean fritters with oil and salt) and
who should eat ekuru(the bean fritters without oil and salt). While doing this, the two
plates fell and broke into pieces.
On seeing this, Orunmila came out and accused them that they had broken his plates.
They went to Alara and narrated what happen. Prior to this, Ifa had been consulted on
the two princesses and were told that whoever that accused them of anything would
be their husband. Alara then decreed that since Ifa had predicted that whoever first
accused them would be their husbands, then Orunmila should marry them. Orunmila
married these princesses and was even given a lot of gifts by the king of Ilara Ekiti.
He became happy thereafter and was singing praises to Ifa.

3. Ifa says that there is a particular woman very close to you, either your spouse
or relation who must be cautioned against her utterances. This woman has
a caustic tougue (wife, daughter, relation, etc). Ifa says that the woman in
question needs the protection of Ifa at all times in order to avert problems
and or disasters that those who are at the receiving end of her tongue
lashing may unleash on her
Without this Ifa protection, she might encounter child bearing problems,
emotional and marital breakdown. With the protection of Ifa, all these
problems will be averted.
Ifa says also that the woman in question is exceedingly jealous, as she
would never tolerate any woman close to her husband, even if this woman
is her husband relative. This is the more reason why this woman needs Ifa
protection in order to avoid a situation where’s she would use he mouth to
dig her own downfall.
There is the need for her to offer 1 matured he-goat as ebo, feed Ifa with 1
big she-goat and feed Oro with 14 snails.
On these Ifa says:
“Owonrin wokun-wokun
Dia fun Orunmila
Baba nloo gbe Oro niyawo
Ebo ni won ni o wa se”

They were the ones who cast Ifa for Orunmila
When going to ask the hand of Oro in marriage
Oro is an Orisa that looks more like a masquerade. The difference is

that while the masquerade can go out in the afternoon, Oro comes out
only in the dead of the night. All women are not allowed to see it even
some men cannot see it unless the initiated ones. When Oro is in
session, it usually scares people with it sharp and terrifying sound that
sends chill up their spine. Oro is not a masquerade that goes about the
street with everybody around.
It also does not have children. The implication of this is that such
woman may be childless. That is why she needs the protection of Ifa in
order for her problem to be solved.
Orunmila then decided to marry her but first went for Ifa consultation.
Ifa advises him to offer ebo as stated above for the sake of his wife’s
utterance so that whenever people are planning any evil against her, as
soon they heard the voice of Oro, they will begin to cringe and
suddenly disperse without able to achieve their evil plan.
Orunmila complied and sooner, he becames blessed.
“Owonrin wokun-wokun

E wa ba ni jebute ire gbogbo.

4. Ifa says that you also needs Ifa’s protection at all times. It is a group
understatement to say that there are some people who do not wish you
well. As a matter of facts Ifa says that some people see no reason why you
should be alive, walking, morning, dancing and the way you are today.
They will rather prefer your dead. This negative feeling is also extended to
every member of your family. This is the reason why you must never move
away from the protective umbrella of Ifa even for one second.
Ifa advised you to offer ebo with 1 mature he-goat, yam pottage, 200 kola-
nuts, 200 bitter kola and money. You will need to find out whether the
Iyamis (witches) will accept only part of the he-goat or all as Ipese.
“Awofin awola
Dia fun Orunmila
Ifa nbe niragun ota omo araye
Ifa ji o nfi ojoojumo kanminu ogun
O gbobo, o rubo
Ko pe, ona o jin
E wa ba ni lajase ogun

These were Ifa’s messages to Orunmila
When in the midst of adversities
And when he was in constant fear of uprising (against him)

And Awola is also a great Awo
Contemptuous look will do no harm

I beg the world
To help me succeed and survive
5. Ifa says that with appropriate ebo you will succeed where others had failed.
You will overcome where others were defeated. You will conquer where
others were vanquished. You will laugh where others were disappointed.
Ifa says that in the event of any contest whereby many people are
contesting for few opportunities, you will be among those who shall
succeed in your bid. If several people are contesting for one opportunity,
Ifa assures you that you shall be the one to grab it.
Ifa says that you have come into this world to accomplish; you only need
to watch your step in order not to spoil your character. There is the need to
offer ebo with 3 pigeons, 3 guinea fowls, 3 ducks and money. You also
need to feed Ifa with 16 rats, 16 fish and 2 guinea fowls. You will prepare
pounded yam, yam flour meal and melon soup for Ifa where Babalawo
will be invited to wine and dine with you.
On these, Ifa says.

“ Ka gunyan ninu iwo Esuo
Ka roka ninu iwo Ekulu
Eni yo lanaa
Yoo tun yo lonii
Dia fun Orunmila
Ebo ni won ni o wa se”
Translation
If were prepare pounded yam inside the horn of roe-buck
And prepare yam flour meal inside the horn of Ekulu (a kind of
deer)
He who fed to satisfaction yesterday
Will also feed to satisfaction today
When going on spiritual mission from one height of achievement to
the other
Orunmila was invited by several communities to come and help solve series of
problems confronting them. Hitherto, other babalawo who had been invited in the
past were unable to solve their problems. Then they invited Orunmila. Before
going, Orunmila offered ebo as prescribed as prescribed above.
On getting there, he consulted Ifa for them advised them to offer ebo. They
complied
Before long, their problems were solved and Orunmila was abundantly rewarded.
He was moving from one community to the other achieving success in his
endeavour. He became happy and was singing praises to Ifa.

Ko pe, ko jinna

7. In this stanza, Ifa goes further to reiterate that you shall move from height
of achievement to the other. Whatever you endeavour to achieve will
surely be achieved But beware of the people around because they will
surely be envious of you. In this case, you should not employ
confrontational means against them rather you should continue to plead
with them. Surely with Ifa on your side you shall overcome.
Ifa says that there is a particular woman close to you who is double dealing
with you.
If so, you should not have any dealing with such a woman no matter the
amount of love you have for her. Such woman will be drawing back your
chances of success
Your destiny is not in alignment with such a thing whereby your woman
will also be dating or having an affair with another man.
There is the need for you to offer ebo with 3 roosters, 3 pigeons, 3 guinea
fowls, 3 hens and money. Also you need to feed Ifa and Obatala with
whatever they demand as appropriate. On these, Ifa says

Alayaki was a beautiful, easy going, hard working gentle headed and loving lady. She
was the daughter of Obatala. Ogun, Orisa oko and Orunmila were asking for her hand
in marriage.
Consequently, they went separately to the home of the Awo mentioned above for Ifa
consultation. They were advised separately to offer ebo so as to be the one who would
win Alayaki. It was only Orunmila that complied and offered the ebo.
They all approached her but she consented to the request of Orunmila only. That was
how Orunmila succeeded in marring Alayaki. After this, Ogun and Orisa Oko were
not happy wityh the development and they showed their resentment. Instead of
meeting fire for fire, Orunmila pleaded with them to show understanding and
explained that his relationship with Alayaki had received the blessing of Obatala, the
father of Alayaki. After this they saw reason and everything returned to normalcy.

8. Ifa says that Ifa is your most reliable pillar of support. Anything you want to do in
life must be above board, plain and without blemish. There is nothing on earth that
you desire, which you will not accomplished. That is the assurance of Ifa for you.
In this wise, you cannot afford to disappoint yourself, you cannot afford to let Ifa
down, you cannot afford to tarnish your destiny, you cannot afford to create
setbacks for your progress.
There is the need for you to offer ebo with 4 pigeons for progress, 4 guinea
fowls for peace of mind, 4 roosters for victory, 4 hens for comfort and
accommodation, 4 ducks for exultation and money as appropriate. You also
need to feed Ifa with a big she-goat.

9. Ifa says that if someone close to you is having childbearing problem and if all
known efforts to beget a child had failed, the reason for such failure is not that
the remedies used were not working but that the inappropriate efforts are being
made. It may be due to the fact that the person owes his or her allegiance to
the wrong parents. That is, either by accident or by design, this person is
holding on to the wrong parents as his/her true biological parents or that this
person is initiated into or serving the wrong Deity.
This person is a true child of Osun and must be serving Osun dedicatedly in
order for him/her to beget several children in life.
Ifa says that there is the need to offer ebo with several rats, several fish,
several guinea fowls, several hens, several yam tubers and money. All these
materials are to be acquired according to his/her capacity. On these, Ifa says:
“Owonrin wokun
Dia fun Efunyemi owun
Ti won nlo ree gbe fun Oosa Oko
Ebo ni won ni o wa se.”

When she was lamenting her inability to beget a child
She was advised to offer ebo
Efunyemi Owun was a child begotten by Osun priest, but as her name suggests, she
was first given to Obatala and her mother claimed that Obatala was the father. When
the falsehood of her paternity could no longer stick, she was given to Orisa oko and
her mother also claimed that Orisa oko was the father. Efunyemi then got married
while in the home of Orisa oko.
After this, every effort to beget a child proved abortive. Consequently, she went for
Ifa consultation and it was revealed to her that her barrenness was due to the fact that
she had erroneously been calling another person as her father. She was advised to
offer ebo and to go to Osun to plead so that she could have her own children. She was
advised to offer ebo with 100 rats, 100 fish, 100 guinea fowls, 100 hens, 100 yam
tubers and money. She complied and went to appeal to Osun nimonde. After this, she
became pregnant and had many children.

10. Ifa says that you are going to blessed with financial success and that you will
be victorious over those who do not want you to succeed in life. Ifa says
that there is the need to offer ebo with 3 pigeons, 3 rosters, 3 guinea fowls
and money. You also need to serve Esu with 1 rooster.
After this, akose will be prepared for you with 16 feathers each of Agbe
(Blue touraco), Aluko (Maroon Touraco) and Odidere (Parrot). This will be
pounded into fine powder and mix with soap for bathing.
If this can be done, financial success is guaranteed and victory is assured. On this,
Ifa says:

Won ni riro ojo ni o paje o

11. Ifa foresees wealth and prosperity for you. In this case, Ifa says that you are
going to travel out of your town or city for business concern. In the trip,
success awaits you even with or without offering ebo. Ifa however advises
you on the need to offer ebo in order for you to bring back home whatever
success achieved during the trip. It is useless for one to achieve financial
success abroad and on coming back home without having anything to
show for it. Ifa says that with appropriate ebo, you shall not only succeed
on your trip but also come back home with all the successes achieved
abroad.
There is the need for you offer ebo with 3 pigeons, 3 guinea fowls, 3
roosters, and money, 20 yams, 40 water yams and 50 yam seedlings. You
also need to serve Esu with 1 pigeon and serve Ogun with 1 rooster,
roasted yam, gin etc.
On these Ifa says:
“Owonrin wofun wedo
Dia fun Ode
Ti nre igbo je, eluju je
Won ni ko rubo
Ko le baa dari de”

In order for him to return home with hunting proceeds
There was a hunter who was the head of all other hunters in his community. One
day, he decided to go on a hunting expedition. As was the practice, he went for Ifa
consultation about the outcome of this expedition. He was then told that the
hunting expedition would be successful but was advised to offer ebo so that he can
come back home with all the proceeds acquired from the expedition.
He complied and then headed for the seven forests and seven wilderness.
Before long, he was able to make substantial success and later came back home
happy and people began to notice that his skin was smooth and glossy, which
showed evidence of success and prosperity. He was then singing praises to Ifa

12. Ifa says that there is the need to offer ebo with ripe banana and place same on
your Ifa anytime you are experiencing hardship.
Ifa says that, doing this will certainly soften’ the situation and bring to you
comfort and accomplishment. Ifa however assures you that you are not
created by Olodumare to come into this world to suffer.
Consequently, whenever there is any form of suffering or hardship,
procure plenty of bananas; offer half of them as ebo. Peel the skin of 4-8
and place the bananas on your Ifa. When this is done, hardship shall be
replaced with comfort and happiness shall replace sorrow. On this, Ifa
says:
“Ewe ila nii bale nii fara jo ewe ade

Ewe ade nii bale nii fara jo ewe ila
Poroporo bale ro po
Dia fun Aye
Tii somo Onife abure
Nijo to njaye ele kaka

The leaves of ila (Hibiscus esculentus) resembles the leaves of
Ade (Thonningia sanguinea) when dropped to the ground
The leaves of Ade also resembles that of ila when picked from
the ground
When Poroporo leaf (Physalis spp) drops to the ground, it
makes a popping sound
These were pronouncements of Ifa to Aye

13. Ifa says that the type of illness that may most likely affect you is the type that
will move from your stomach to the head and will make your legs to be
shaking. Ifa says that when this happens, there is the need for you to offer
ebo with 1 matured he-goat, your complete dress and money. You also
need to serve the Iyamis with okete. The ebo materials must not be
slaughtered. You must be very careful of food poisoning, which some
people may want to give to you. This is the reason why you must not eat
anywhere you are not sure of. You may take along your food and drink
along when going to any social gathering.

The person in question, when he was hale and hearty, he went for Ifa consultation. He
was advised to offer ebo to prevent food poisoning. He refused and said that nobody
could ever poison him since he was well known in the community.
Unknowing fully to him, he was poisoned and could not detect on time that he had
consumed the poison that damages the liver and the intestines.
Thereafter, his legs started shaking and were not able to move from one place to the
other. Consequently, he became bedridden and was thinking that he might give up the
ghost anytime.
When he remembered what the awo had told him concerning food poisoning, he
regretted that he had refused to heed the advise of the Babalawo.
14. Ifa says that you must not engage in extra marital affair even though you have
a tendency for it. Ifa warns you not to spend lavishly on women because if you do,
you may not be able to pinpoint at anything about all your efforts and achievement in
life. It is a venture that is not profitable and which is bound to end in regrets.
If you caution and restrain yourself, you will not only succeed in life, you will also
have a lot to show for your success. Remember, Owonrin wofun children are created
to succeed in life.
However, infidelity is their bane. Please try and ensure that you do not fall into this
trap. There is the need to offer ebo with 3 roosters and money. You also need to serve
Esu with 1 rooster and feed the Iyamis with 1 rooster, making 5 roosters in all. On
this, Ifa says
“Owonrin dobodobo
Dia fun Oro
Ti nsawo lo sode odobo
Won ni o kara nle ebo ni sise
Owonrin dobodobo
Dia fun Egungun
Ti nsawo lo sode odobo
Won ni ko kara nle ebo ni sise”
Translation
Owonrin, the love-maker
This was the Ifa’s message for Oro
When going on spiritual mission to Odobo land
This was also the message of Ifa to Egungun
He was also advised to offer ebo.
Oro and Egungun wanted to go on a spiritual mission to the land of Odobo. They
went for Ifa consultation and were advised to offer ebo that they would succeed in
Odobo land. Ifa however warned them against promiscuity and all forms of illicit
affairs. It was only Egungun that complied and heeded the advice.
On getting to Odobo land, they became successful but unfortunately for Oro, he
started engaging in illicit affairs and was spending money lavishly on women. On the
other hand Egungun was spending his money on cloths and costumes.
When it was time for them to return home, Egungun packed all his belongings in
several drums and boxes and was dressed in gorgeous attires. Oro on the other hand,
could only count the number of women he had laid. He was completely naked and
could not have any good thing to show for his success at Odobo land.
Realizing the situation as it were, Oro told Egungun that he could not follow Egungun
back home in broad daylight. He advised Egungun to go and pleaded with to help
inform his people that he, Oro would arrive home at the dead of the night. When
Egungun reached home, he was met with pomp and pageantry; everybody was able to
identify with him and his success.
But when Oro reached home in the middle of the night, he told them that he did not
want to see any woman around. When asked where he had kept all the things he had
achieved in Odobo land, he responded thus:
“Baba fi dobo-dobo-dobo……………
Meaning “ I have spent all on love making and promiscuity…….
“Owonrin dobodobo
Dia fun Oro
Ti nsawo lo sode Odobo
Won ni o kara nle ebo ni sise
Owonrin dobodobo
Dia fun Egungun
Ti nsawo lo sode Odobo
Egungun nikan lo nbe leyin to nsebo
Ko pe, ona o jinn
E wa ba ni bayo, e wa wo’re
Ero Ipo ati Ofa
Eni gbebo nibe ko wa sebo”
Translation
This was the Ifa’s message for Oro
This was also the message of Ifa to Egungun
He was also advised to offer ebo.
It was only Egungun that complied
Not too long
Come meet us in abundant in prosperity
The people of ipo and Ofa towns
Please comply when advised to offer ebo
14. Ifa says that infidelity and promiscuity will not only lead to failure in life, it
may also cost you your life. This is the reason why you must live a life of
chastity and piety. There is the need for you to offer ebo with one matured
he-goat and money. After this you need to watch your steps in life and
ensure that you steer clear of temptations.
On this a stanza in your Odu says:
“Aremonu fiki
Dia fun Obo
Tii somo onida arara
Ebo ni won ni ko se
O gbebo, o rubo
Aile lanu soro Obo
Ni ko je ko so eni ohun pa”
Translation
The act of enjoying something that may lead to grievous harm
This was the message of Ifa to Obo, the vagina
The owner of the double-edged poisonous sword
She complied
Because of the inability of the vagina to speak
That was what precluded her from enumerating
The number of people she had killed
In this Odu, Ifa explains that Obo, the vagina actually offered ebo for her to be able
to trap and kill the men folk and her request was granted. She was however told
that even though she will be able to lead men to their doom, but she would not be
able to boast about her accomplishments in public. That is why the vagina has no
month to narrate her exploits.
16. Ifa says that you must NEVER underestimate women in your life. They are
capable of making or destroying you. For this reason you must always be
offering ebo and be feeding the Iyamis.
You need to use 6 okete (big rats) 6 eko (corn meals) and six bottles of palm
oil to serve the Iyamis. You will do this one per night for 6 consecutive days.
After the ebo and Ipese, you still need to treat women with extreme caution
and respect. On these, Ifa says:

Dia fun Iya mi Osoronga
Won nlo sode Ipokia
Ebo ni won ni ki won se
Owonrin wofun-wedo
Dia fun won lode Ipokia
Ebo Eleye ni won ni ki won se”
Translation
Owonrin that attacks the intestine and liver
This was the Ifa’s message for the witches
When going to the land of Ipokia
They were advised to offer ebo
This message of Ifa was also delivered to the people of Ipokia
They were advised to offer ebo against the witches
Iyami Osoronga, the witches wanted to go to the land of Ipokia, so they went to
consult Ifa about their impending journey. They were advised to offer ebo that their
mission in the land of Ipokia shall be successful. They offered ebo and decided to
leave for Ipokia. Meanwhile, the people of Ipokia also consulted Ifa around that time
and were advised to offer ebo that some strangers, women are likely to arrive their
town, in order not to spoil their things.
The people of Ipokia refused to comply and dare the advice of the babalawo that those
strangers could not do anything to them because they were all women. When these
strangers got to Ipokia land, they were able to wreck their havoc on the people of
Ipokia who had become helpless. Their lives turned upside down and things did not
go on normally.
Esu then told the people of Ipokia that their suffering was as a result of their refusal to
offer ebo and heed the advice of Ifa. That they should immediately go to those women
(strangers) and begged them for mercy. The people of Ipokia had no option but go and
begg these women who had visited all forms of plague on them. They then offered the
ebo, made necessary Ipese to the Iyamis and their lives began to return to normalcy.
They were also reminded that no matter how great a man is, he was first a child of
woman. No man should ever underestimate the power of women. They should be
accorded their due respect and honour.

The inhabitants of Ipokia were then experiencing untold hardship
They later went to offer their own ebo
