MESSAGE TO THE TRAINERS

The BSP Unit Leader Training Scheme underwent several changes

and so with the Instructor’s Manual for training courses. While the old
manuals are still very useful in the conduct of training courses, the BSP
felt a need to provide our trainers with the updated revision to conform
with recent developments and changes in the syllabus and course content
of the different training courses for leaders.

This instructor’s manual is a product of the work of love from your

fellow trainers in our organization whose unceasing effort in developing
leaders makes Scouting possible for our youth and who shared the same
vision of establishing standards of training for our leaders. It is hoped that
through this manual, the leaders you train will acquire more cogent
insights and deeper understanding of Scouting’s aims and purpose, of the
skills necessary to fully operate a unit, and establish a common standard
that will ensure quality training among our leaders.

Your role as trainer of leaders is of vital importance, for upon you

depends the qualities and skills of our leaders and how they can help us
achieve the mission and vision of the Scouting Movement, that is to
develop our young people to become responsible, law-abiding, God-
fearing and productive members of our society. It will be a proud day for all
of us in Scouting when we can say with certainty that Scouting is really an
agent for social change.
