Field News Dear Prayer Partners:

Greetings in the Name of Jesus:
Extra Christmas
It is always such a joy to hear from our friends and prayer partners. When a letter arrives

in the mail with a different envelope and foreign postmark from a faraway place, we tend to pick
it out of the stack of mail to examine where it came from and who the sender might be.

Such was the case in the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety, in June, a mere
twenty years ago. In fact it seems as if it were just recently, as we recalled the excitement we felt

that day. The letter was postmarked from a small village in Mozambique Africa, Chokwe, and
the postage stamp was neatly placed in the right hand corner of the envelope. We immediately

noticed that the letter had taken almost 3 months to arrive here in the USA, as it was sent by

surface mail, which meant that it had come by boat. It was a miracle that it arrived at our mailbox
– we eagerly opened it and were quite astonished when we read the contents.

Two young African boys, students in standard 9 and 10, (11th and 12th grade in the USA)
aged 16 and 17 years, were walking home from school one day. Their names were Mechaque
Sibanda and Bento Chauque. Suddenly the wind started blowing and they spotted a piece of
paper flying towards them. Mechaque ran forward to grab the paper, just missing it, when
Bento yelled, I’ve got it, as it landed on his chest, he held it down with both hands. They were
so happy; they sat down on a nearby tree stump to read the contents. By God’s Divine Plan, it so
happened to be a Bible Tract on Salvation, which Br. John and the evangelistic team had
distributed in that area, while on a soul winning outreach many months before. The Title read
“What Must I Do to Be Saved?” and on the back it read: What the Bible says About …
Giving Account. To the left is a copy of that tract.

Both boys were keen students, and they each had an English King James Bible which was
part of their curriculum in English Reading … They recognized the verses, looked them up in
their Bibles and read each verse out loud … when they were done, they looked at one another, and
decided that they needed to follow the instructions on the tract in order to be saved. Kneeling in
the sand, they prayed and asked God to forgive them as they repented, accepting Jesus Christ as
their Lord and Savior, believing that they would be saved. They felt so happy and changed, and
wrote to Br, John using the address stamped on the back of the little tract.

Again, by God’s Divine appointment, Br. John was scheduled to leave for South Africa
within two weeks of receiving their letter. They had given their schools’ address, saying that they
would ask their principle to look out for our reply. What Faith … We immediately sent a reply by
airmail, telling them that Br, John and the team would be in their village at the end of July, just
when school would reopen again after the winter holidays. He told them he wanted to meet them.

Another miracle, and Divine Appointment – they met, joining with the outreach teams, and
local youth from the area that were helping to plant a church. They attended discipleship classes
and after graduating High School, first Bento and a year later Mechaque went to Bible School as
they felt the call of God to work in full time service.

Both young men graduated became pastors, returning to their villages planting churches
and reaching souls for the Lord with the Gospel of Salvation, God’s message to all the World…
