Description:
SP-6700 resin does not contain hexamethylene tetramine. It is used to eliminate scorch tendencies
in high temperature mill or banbury mixing.
In Banbury mixing, it is often more desirable to add hexa to the stock on the sheet off mill.

Applications:
SP-6700 -is used in synthetic and natural rubber based compounds as a reinforcing resin in many
applications that require high hardness compounds that process easily. Phenolic resins are very
compatible NBR, fairly compatible with EPDM, not as compatible with SBR, BR and NR
polymers, and are least compatible with CR. Some products in which SP-6700 is used are Shoe
soles, Co-extruded window profiles, Weather-stripping and Tires.

Resin Crosslinking:
With 8% hexa SP- 6700 Resin cures rapidly to a heat resistant chemically inert product. This
percentage of hexa is the one normally used with nitrile stocks. The 3 – 5 % hexa loading is used
with neoprene stocks During rubber compounding cycles hexa should be added as the last
compounding ingredient and should be added at the end of mixing cycles. Hexa can be replaced by
other methylene donors such as hexamethoxymethylomelamine (HMMM).
